The Expired Marvel Netflix series

Got through 2-3 episodes of Iron Fist this weekend. I think that I'm currently struggling with the main Corporate Bad Guy being a trademark insufferable prick for no reason feeling a bit empty (also, not a fan of the vertical white lines flashback effect at all. I think it feels cheap).

Danny and his shenanigans are interesting so far, and I'm looking forward to it connecting with other things and being more superhero-y soonish (hopefully).

I'm currently in the middle of watching Iron Fist, just watching through episode 4 at the moment. I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be, but saying that, however, it really does feel like it's missing something. But I'd definitely agree in thinking it's the weakest of the four shows.

Hopefully I can start watching Defenders tonight after Mr. Lith and I eat dinner. I'm excited. Probably won't be able to finish it this weekend, because I have a 12 hour workday tomorrow and a local convention and I have to work Sunday as well. >_>

Still never finished Iron Fist. :closedmonster:

Finished, it was good but it had its problems.
There's a teaser for The Punisher! :excited:

Very strong show. Best yet, I think.

This is the Hand as I was hoping they'd be from the beginning, we get a five person team of multiple personalities, and it ties in with the lore pretty well (although until something contradicts it, I'm headcanoning that Bakuto is someone's annoying little brother that got dragged along with them, he's a bit of an embarrassment compared to the rest of them.) If we had something like this in DD2, It would be so much better, although I suppose then they couldn't use it again now.

Makes a lot of sense that the immortality juice is dragon blood/bone marrow/something, and also why that's so horrific to K'un L'un. It even makes sense that they sealed the sacred animals rather than destroyed them.

They spent the right amount of time getting the team together, first four episodes very strong. Danny trying to fight his way out of the warehouse was a little out of character for all of them.

There was a bit of 'what the hell is going on' in the large fight scenes, and I feel they didn't make use of their powers as well as they could, but it was serviceable enough.

I will miss Gao, assuming she's dead, she was a wonderfully pragmatic villain
'leave town and move to China. Take that, TV budget!' that didn't play by the usual superhero story rules.

Very enjoyable show. No major missteps.

I wish the Defenders were slightly better at saving NPCs, though.

Not entirely surprised re Matt, he was in the immortality room.

Watched the first two episodes, liking what I see so far. The narrative flows well and although I was kinda okish with Iron Fist, I'm actually interested in the four core characters and what's happening with them.

Favourite scene so far is Luke and Claire getting it on in the first episode, obvs. :awesome:

Wow, I so I just found out that the Punisher series dropping in November is more than likely going to be dropping on either November 10th, which is the Marine Corps' birthday, or November 11th, which is Veteran's Day.

That just makes me even more stoked, to know that they're caring about little details like this. :D

Am I the only one that found the cinematography of talking scenes to be really annoying? Most if them had 80-85% of the screen taken up by out of focus things in the foreground. Sometimes even cutting out a portion of the face of the person that we're supposed to be focused on.

I need to watch again to see what you're talking about. I guess it's fair to say that I didn't notice.

One thing I did enjoy however was how the color saturation of the scenes varied depending on which Defender was on screen. That was definitely a treat for the eyes.

Finished it. It was okay. *shrugs*

Sigourney Weaver saying "baka" made me laugh though. :P

I'm not really sure what the Hand wanted to accomplish. They want immortality juice and to go back home to K'un-L'un...but they already did and destroyed it at the end of Iron Fist S1?

Weaver's character was also wasted.

Now there's rumors swirling that the Punisher's air date may be delayed entirely.

It doesn't seem entirely out of the question, but I won't take it too seriously until I hear it from Marvel/Netflix themselves.
