It's an epoch moment. The most memorable moment they spent together. The night of their promise. Even if they spend every day til he leaves together (which I'm not suggesting, for the record) it would make sense to reference it.

I don't know about other people. For me, this is about making sense of her being able to detect something off in Cloud's actions and mannerisms right off the bat, before the recounting of Nibelheim.

If she didn't know him at all, she couldn't tell he was 'off.'

It's just the 'battle model as scenario model' mod. It's reshuffling existing resources, rather than adding new ones.

I think a lot of Tifa's love for Cloud developed not necessarily because of him personally but because he was someone from her childhood that she'd known for so many years. It seems a lot of the cast of FFVII is no longer close to anyone from their childhood (maybe because so many of them die? idek). But there's a special emphasis on how long Aerith has known Tseng, and there's even a little emphasis on Tifa and Johnny's friendship.

I think Tifa really began to love Cloud when she saw him at the train station, because someone she'd made a promise with in her childhood actually reappeared in her life. In a world as unstable as the one they live in that 's a really big deal.

oh also I wouldn't think Aerith would be skittish about sex forever, I mean again, she brought home some random soldier dude and let him stay the night and her mom didn't even say anything. :monster:

Johnny, now there's a confusing character in terms of backstory. I'm not entirely sure where the idea that he was another childhood friend (as opposed to old friend) came from. He seems to exist to raise a bunch of different questions.
I know the letter from the son of the general store is attributed to him a lot, but is it confirmed from him?

haha my mom always gave kids like that stale ass mini candy canes from the Christmas the year before. She had a bag of top notch candy (she always got the jumbo bags of Hershey's and Willy Wonka assorted candy) she handed out to everyone else. :monster:

what fills my heart with festive joy was my co-workers and I eating candy together and telling some various local ghost stories and the store generally being pretty slow.

what fills me with rage is christfags who bitch about how this holiday is offensive

I always thought Johnny was from Nibelheim. Doesn't he call Cloud "childhood friend" right at the beginning?

@ winter - What emphasis is their on Tifa & Johnny's friendship? Because he tells Cloud he better not hurt her or something like that? Or because he calls her the angel of the slums...and I think that's only if you tell her that you forgot about the promise.

iirc the only time Johnny speaks about Tifa is in sector 7, and they have no direct interactions.

I would also like to know if the letter is from him. I tried searching for it on the Googles but couldn't come up with it. Does anyone know what it says?

It's quite obvious that Johnny has a thang for Tifa. But my point is that there's no conclusion of friendship. There are no interactions between them. He could just be some random patron that has become smitten with her. I'm not saying they didn't know each other, but there's no emphasis on anything except that he's in love with her.
