You know what's weird? I've seen it a couple times. People arguing that there was a lot of time between the Nibelheim incident (where Cloud clearly still has feelings for Tifa) and when they meet again in Midgar. While it's true there are 5 years, dude was basically in a coma for most of that. Generally you don't just wake up from a coma and have a total 180 on your thoughts/feelings.

And his thoughts and feelings created the false persona which was heavily influenced by his childhood dreams.

Not to mention that the reason why Cloud in the OG even has parts of his personality merged in with parts of Zack's is because Tifa found him at the train station. According to Sephiroth anyway, Cloud and Tifa recognized each other and Jenova 'copied' Tifa's memories of Cloud into his personality. I would say that means that Tifa did know what Cloud was like five years ago. This is why she is involved with 'repairing' Cloud's memories.

I've always been kind of suspicious about that, given the context and who's saying it. Sephiroth is trying to mindscrew Cloud in that scene and make it seem like he's nothing but a puppet. I know Jenova caused the false persona, but even then part of him was fighting against the false memories, so why can't he himself be responsible for the parts that were really him?

But either way, yeah, Tifa's the catalyst for Cloud coming half-way back to himself; it's evident from how he rouses once he sees her at the train station.

One of the few things Seph was being honest about in that scene. Ultimanias have always corroborated that particular bit. Cloud's own ideal version of himself was thrown into the mix as well.

I know Cloud idealized himself, I was just iffy on if that's more Cloud or Jenova. I didn't see it in the translations on the site, but I might've missed something or maybe that page isn't on here? Dunno.

...and yeah, if it's taken from Tifa, then it'd be Tifa's version of Cloud, right?

Certain aspects of what Sephiroth says are true and others aren't. He also says that Cloud was constructed by Hojo. Does he really believe that's the truth or is he lying to confuse Cloud?

Zifa (or is it Tack?) is canon, Quex. Really. It's true love for realz - they knew each other for a week, he's dead, I hate you really means I love you (bc girls always mean the opposite of what they say), I'm sure there are other things...

Tifa's version of Cloud that she has in the train station is way more accurate then Cloud's version of himself at that point. He has mako poisoning so he can't remember what he is supposed to be like; he doesn't have a version of himself to fall back on.

Cloud was very lucky that Tifa found him at the train station that day and not later. Jenova, it seems, was finishing up on imprinting Zack's memories and personality in Cloud in that scene. If Tifa had found him at a later date, Jenova wouldn't have a reason to imprint Tifa's memories of Cloud in Cloud because Cloud wouldn't need them; his mind would be relatively stable.

Well it's better than Reno. I have a lot of friends that think they're "perfect for each other" :p I can only guess that came from that phone call. Shipping is weird

And Sephiroth probably know that Cloud is real. Why would he be wasting time torturing a clone of a guy he didn't like?

Tifa's memories might have just sparked into being.

It's better than Barret, who I always saw as more of her... not quite father figure, but guardian? Perhaps something like a very big and scary Mr. Tish type brother? xD

I don't get why after Tifa says: "Nothing else matters now, only Cloud" that people still think Tifa wants something else, not that she did in the first place. She always accepted Cloud for who he is. If she wanted Zack, she'd be with him. If she wanted any other guy, she'd be with him. But she's not.

I always figured Sephiroth didn't kill Tifa because she.... wasn't that important.

Or Maybe Sephiroth had a crush on her ? She does have gigantic boobs and wear a small mini-skirt . Then again he was topless with the final battle with Cloud. So maybe he had his eyes on somebody else.
