I don't think anyone's claiming CxA is perfect, but it's pretty hypocritical when members of this thread constantly bitch about people behind their backs (yes, the thread is visible, doesn't change the fact that you're still arguing against someone who can't defend themselves).
Yes they can. Not only are the no restrictions on signing up, and no rules against their viewpoints, but the offer to join HAS been extended.
And then turn around and say it's fair game cause they put themselves out there on the interwebs. True enough, but then don't whine when they get frustrated with a particular argument or whatever and do the same. IT'S ONLY OKAY IF YOU PLAY BY CLOTAY RULES

By that token, who the dicks cares* if people are talking shit about you. You care so much about what other strangers are saying about you that you need to make a private forum? I mean, that's fine, but they bitch about other people just as much. So for some reason people like to talk about crazy shit going on.
Personally, people could gather up on a little corner of the internet and form a Tifabelle-hate-club and talk shit about me all day long. What the fuck do I care? Go nuts. Send me the newsletters.
The venting threads about me I was informed of were a laugh riot. It's not objectionable that they have the venting forum. Merely... interesting.
The mods were harsher back in the day because raids were more and more common. Wasn't right of them, but they were paranoid. The mods are more relaxed now. I mean shit, I debated against most of the people there and they were pretty cool to me when I first joined.
Tana does not a raid make. Unless you count every tom dick and nancy who screwed up their gumption, came in to debate, and got themselves banned and horsemanized a raid, the paranoia was just paranoia.
Um, idk what you think the venting section is, but there aren't threads titled with each Cloti just saying how much they suck. The venting thread was usually used back when people debated and mostly vented about arguments. Users were mostly called out in relation to arguments, or trolling attempts which happened. Stuff like that. As far as I know there were no personal attacks on anyone.
There were. And they were HILARIOUS.
I just don't see how it's perfectly okay to constantly bitch about the forum, the arguments, and its members nearly every other week here but a half dead forum with a locked venting section is somehow criminal.

Honestly, I don't see it. I see folks going 'Having it happen so much you need a forum for it is, well odd' but it's hardly a condemnation of it.
At worst, Rin has said it seems a bit wrong to have a forum for it rather than using IM to do the same thing and Tifabelle has said it seems pointless, but not that it is anything remotely resembling critical.
