All right, correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember Tifa being embarrassed and hoping no one has seen them in both the high and low affection version of the Highwind scene (although I've only seen the former; I've only read the script of the latter). That to me implies there was probably fucking going on - would she really be embarrassed by people overhearing some intimate words? I guess it's possible, but it doesn't seem likely. Like I said above:

I wouldn't assume it was definitively canon that Cloud and Tifa slept together if the creators hadn't described the scene as "risqué". But I'd still think it was pretty likely. The way they act immediately after the fact seems exactly the way I'd expect two people who'd just fucked for the first time after years of mutual attraction to act. The first time is often clumsy and awkward, especially if both of you are inexperienced (as there is strong reason to believe both of them probably were, seeing as the story never mentions either of them ever having had previous romantic attachments). The fact that Tifa is embarrassed and afraid someone may have been watching is a further clue. And really, just because all the tensions aren't resolved after they fuck doesn't mean anything, even in fiction. In Battlestar Galactica, there's probably more tension between

As for the first disc I always interpreted Cloud as being partially Jenova and partially Cloud. There was still some of his real personality shining through but it's obvious he's not fully himself either.

so yeah, just because he's under jenova's control doesn't mean parts of himself don't show through.

The way I see it, Cloud had three outside forces controlling him in disk 1: Jenova, Sephiroth, the gamer. All of them making him do and say stuff that he might not necessarily say or do if he was in control of himself.

And, yeah, I'm also of the opinion that there are parts of his real self that showed through in disk 1. But the end result is still a guy who isn't the real Cloud.

For the record Sephiroth was the one trying to get Cloud to kill Aerith, he doesn't have control of Cloud 24/7. Aerith, the Ultimania Guide and inner Cloud all go on about how he is not his real self at all in Disc One, but Sephiroth talks to that Cloud and wants to "bring him back to the Cloud that gave me the Black Materia." There's sliding scale of how mindcontrolled Cloud is in Disc 1.

Zee, Oddish, I think you two are grossly misreading the whole concept of Cloud's laugh while under Jenova's control. It's not saying that he laughed because Jenova thought the joke was funny, but that on disc 1 he put on a far more confident facade because of being messed up and under control that may have been more susceptible to laughing at a joke than his real self would be.

I mean this is the same group of people that published Cloud's birthday wrong on more than one occasion. If they screwed up Cloud's birthday, saying Cloud is Aerith's koibito could easily be a mistake.

I'm pretty sure the laugh was genuine. Jenova was in control of his consciousness 80% of the game, so if you're gonna argue that then half of the CLOTAY PROOFS aren't really valid either.

I totally forget, when the fuck was the one time his Bday was listed wrong? Outside of FFT where his Zodiac was wrong, of course.

BTW- There ARE places along the spectrum between TTLY Cloud and TTLY Jenova. Cloud was a mixed up fuckbag pastiche of at least four influences, if not more.

The real Cloud talks to you in third person in the game, He talks to Tifa and refers to old Cloud as "him", your telling me this guy was half in control and only influenced by Jenova after all?

The coolness part, yes it originiated from Cloud himself. He wanted to be cool as a SOLDIER (No, DUH) But it's part of his facade, not his true self.

First off, my left nut. Suck it. Secondly, the idea that Clerith is a possibility on the first disk is because of Jenova. It never actually does exist. That is kind of an important plot point in the game. The whole Jenova/Sephy control, multiple personality thing.
