My initial thought on the family thing: Barret's trying to make the other 3 into a family and at the same time removing himself from it. "You be a good kid to them!" or whatever the hell his line was. Cloud and Tifa are both a bit taken aback at the idea because they're just laying the groundwork for their own relationship, and suddenly they find themselves a "family" with a child to care for. In an instant their dynamic is changed and they aren't sure what to make of it.

That whole theory that the lens flare is a pink ribbon has got to be one of the saddest pro-Clerith things I've ever read. They're bending over backwards, to clutch at pink straws.

At any rate, doesn't Crisis Core tie this precious ribbon of theirs in with Zack?

Yes NO BECAUSE SHE'S ALWAYS WORN PINK RIBBONS AND SHE CHOSE IT NOT HIM AND SHE WEARS A DIFFERENT RIBBON BESIDES BECAUSE IT'S A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT COLOR IN DIFFERENT LIGHT VALUES AND TIED DIFFERENTLY.
Of course, if that logic holds, I guess the creators were round about the ribbons being a link back to Aerith. Cept Marlene's of course. For she is the second coming of Aerith, but she is also the anti-Aerith, seeing as she acts more Like Tifa.

Yeah, yeah, I know - these theories probably popped up before Crisis Core came out. But it's still fun to imagine the faces of the floating-ribbon and spirit-sex proponents when they found out that Zack originally gave Aerith the ribbon, and that he's always by her side in the Lifestream.

They did, the reactions were hilarious, and the backpedals swift.

Except Barret's line still doesn't suggest he considers himself a part of the family. In FACT, the very fact that he SAYS 'be a good kid to the family' suggests he is leaving her in the care of someone other than HIS family. Imagine Military men and women go on assignment, and leave their kids with their SO. It makes no sense.

What are people's thoughts on these interpretations?

Re: Pink screencap- REMINISCENCE tells us he returned home, that he was HEADING HOME throughout the credits. The shot of the desk shows us he has returned home and now has a new photo adorning his desk, next to the honored family photo. AC/C's last scene shows us he has returned to acting like a father to Denzel.

Nothing can be taken as a reference to ZackxAerith, since Case of Lifestream - White makes it clear that Aerith has moved on from her relationship with Zack.

CoL puzzles me to be honest but I'm not sure where in that Aerith shows she's moved on from Zack. If anything, it seems like (correct me if I'm wrong because I didn't read the whole thing), she hasn't reunited with him yet and is still feeling the way she did right before she died. (ie, confused about the boys, wants Cloud to be different, etc.)

Either way though, I like how CoL's lack of Zerith = nothing Zerith ever means anything.

The revised version of Case of Tifa also sheds light on the idea of "the family". It's made clear that "the family" was actually Barret's idea, not Cloud's. Marlene is the one who invites Cloud to be part of the family, and Tifa is actually somewhat nervous with the idea of Cloud being part of it. This would suggest that Barret is indeed part of the family, which is reinforced when Marlene refers to Barret as "daddy" during her ACC conversation with Cloud. ... Other parts of the revised Case of Tifa remain basically the same as the original.

It's funny how they feel like they win is by, rather than adding up all the pieces together and coming to the conclusion that everyone else has that Cloud and Tifa are an item, they'd prefer to add up all the pieces, realize their CxA concept doesn't work, and then keep ranting that SE contradicts themselves until CxA seems plausible.

After Cloud thanked Marlene’s innocent offer with his serious face, he looked at Tifa. Tifa nodded a little. Would there be various problems arising after this? However, Tifa decided that she whould stop worrying about the relationship between the two of them.

If Cloud didn't want a family with Tifa he would not thank Marlene and look to Tifa for reassurance & confirmation.

They just got together recently, and they're still working on their own relationship as a couple. Now they suddenly have a child. Tifa's naturally worried about the changes this might bring. Of course she's nervous -- this means they're now parents, not just koibitos. Funny how despite Barret being a aprt of this family, it is Cloud and Tifa's changing relationship that is emphasized. Tifa isn't nervous about children in the family until Barret removes himself from the equation, leaving her and Cloud as parents with their own family. Strangely enough, it is Cloud who's fine with this and Tifa who's nervous It is Cloud who waits for Tifa to confirm, not the other way around.
Like it is Cloud who looks to Tifa to say "ok" when he says "we'll find our normal life".

Why don't these people wonder why Cloud doesn't leave to "settle his past" like Barret? For the same reason Barret says Tifa's place is at 7th Heaven. With Cloud. Living that normal life Cloud wanted. So Barret removes himself and lets them shoot for it.

The idea that this is Barret's family is ridiculous. Hell, even SE constantly remove Barret every chance they get even on thier Ultis and whatever other books they've published. The Clerii are just past the point of desperation, hoping that if they shout loud enough and for enough time, it will somehow be heard over the raging sea of Cloti that FFVII is swimming in.

funny thing is (and this is me we're talking about so take it with a gain of salt) when I first heard Aerith was in the credits and I saw that, I actually did think it was her. I thought it was going to zoom out and be her. Of course I realized pretty quickly that it's nothing but a lens flare and even if it is Aerith's ribbon, so what? Is it going to sexually assault Cloud or something? Is it gonna wrap around his dick? How does a floating ribbon prove Cloud loves Aerith?
