Yes there's way too much negative on the site and forums. I agree with that, but my personal advice in this experience is that it's better to just let it go and be the better person. I mean coming in here and saying they have no souls... that's not making all the clotis look too good

In other news, just to further back this koibito thing, I asked a few people I knew who spoke Japanese to give me their opinions. They're neither Clerith nor Cloti, so I figured it'd be best to ask them Basically I asked if they thought the term meant "sweetheart" as in nice person, and to look at the context and tell me what they thought it meant.

Someone had it come up in an IRC chat:

Is that an Official translation, or is it fan-translated?

Either way, I can see it being Sweetheart easily. It's a very intended Love triangle, and I know that word has been used to describe Aerith too.

If they wanted to maintain the confusing love triangle, which obviously they do, then they'd use the word to apply to both characters on purpose.

NOTE: By "Sweetheart" I obviously mean someone who is loved by someone.

And my favorite response came from a Japanese native:

That's a sense of someone translating and using the correct term, incorrectly in English. Someone might describe her as their own 'sweetheart'. Like barbershop quartet style. It does not mean 'sweetheart' in the endearing sense, "Awww, aren't you a sweetheart." And that can easily be misconstrued the sense it's used in.

An appropriate translation would be "...a lover..", since it's talking about the roles she's assumed.

No, Koibito means "Person who is Loved" Literally.
So if someone translates it as "Sweetheart" then it means that it's a person who is LOVED, like a romantic Sweetheart.

Look, something you should tell BOTH CloudXTifa Fanbases and CloudXAerith.

THEY PURPOSELY USED THE WORD TO REFER TO BOTH AERITH AND TIFA!!

It was INTENDED To be that way because the producers have a very clear Love Triangle that they're trying to maintain.

Both fanbases need to STOP USING THAT WORD AS PROOF OF ANYTHING!

So just more evidence to back that up I guess.

I'd like to not think of her as a two timer so I have decided she doesn't love Zack anymore and decided to go conformist and love Cloud like everyother women in FFVII. I always assumined Aerith was over Zack when she sent him the last letter, not as anti evidence for Zerith, but I just never thought of Aerith the kind of girl to pin on the past much, or at least I didn't want her to be. Uhm, in your opinion, but in mine your being a bit biased about the CxA forums. Also you say how they "bash the poor wittle clotizz" but aren't you doing the same in return now? I won't lie yes some do, but also there obviously are foolish Clotis that do the same in return. T_T

It wasn't described for Aerith, but it was for Cloud in Aerith's pov in CoL. :3
