That sounds familiar...

BTW, loving the new title of the thread. Extra tentacles, yay.
I adore Hugo Weaving, but for some reason, he sounds like he has a nasty cold as Agent Smith. :monster:

I always thought he was trying to do a voice that sounded unearthly/awkward/not the way someone normally talks coming from someone who looked like a human to emphasize the fact that he wasn't.

But on topic...

I basically think this. When I first saw her in Calling after my first couple of watches I was completely thrown off by it. I just didn't get why she was there, it almost spoiled the "You're okay now" ending to the movie.

I thought it was nice, but I actually got the idea that she wasn't "physically" there. I thought it was just her watching over Cloud as he finally started to live his life again.

I felt that way too. It was like the resolution of the whole thing was broken.

Though a part of me did think it was more for fanservice than anything. Cloud and Aerith were the more popular characters of FFVII, rite? :awesome:

Exactly. "Everything's all right...but I'm gonna hang around in random flower fields and stalkwatch over you just to be sure. :awesome:"
I want to be just like you someday, FHS. :monster:

Edit:
And whatever Vincent has with Lucrecia cannot be healthy.
+1 for this. :awesome:

And then say that again, except switch Vincent's name with Lucrecia, and Lucrecia's with Hojo. :wacky:

Honestly, until I saw people saying the whole 'Cloud goes to meet Aerith' thing, I never considered her actually being there. I just thought it was her watching over him.

And that would make logical, contextual, sense, Hito, and there's your mistake. Geesh. :awesome:

When I saw Aerith during Calling I thought that the sole purpose of such an event was to give us a pretty shot of her since the only facial shot we got of her was washed out by the back-lighting in the church. lol

I have no idea why she was in Calling either... it's like it was a mistake.

"Aerith, you're in the shoot, could you move please?.. Aerith? Aerith!?"
*Aerith turns and looks at camera* "huh?"
"... never mind, let's just go with it."

Pretty much. It's supposed to be someone who knows that they are supposed to do, but does not understand it. He is visually and auditorially anathema.

And then he played and elf.

Yeah. She was like a fallen relative watching over their family, a la a lot of Asians religions quasi believe, not physically present, much less waiting.

Honestly, the real reason was probably another CG test. That was the reason behind the first version of second credits anyways.

The real reason is that the original "Welcome Home Sex" credits were too graphic for the film to maintain an appropriate rating, so SE threw in the dead chick to pacify the ratings board.

Bastards. :awesome:

Honestly all this 'calling' talk is making me chuckle.

Just one more thing the pinkers twisted in a way to make it ttly Clerith. When of course they completely missed the point.

So of course SE takes out their precious meeting in flower fields for random smex random Aerith scene at the end. And replace it with a lot of Tifa amongst other things. And a ttly Zerith scene tacked on.

Now the asshole in me thinks it is for the Cleriths reaction that they took it out. But in all honesty. I do think it was to not confuse the ending. Aerith and Zack leave together in the white light. End of story. No random ghostie stalking.

Remember. She welcomes him home 'gently'.

No Afterlife canoodlin', no.

I told them it would ruin the spirit and meaning of the film, that it's essence would be forever damaged were it removed.

Of course they realized that for the lie it was, but still!

Kinda cheapens Aerith's death if she can just appear anywhere and... be there... and stuff.

Cloud looks like he just looked up and saw Tifa there.

Busted, hehe.

It's also kinda funny that he's grinding on her...knees? lol

Cloud: No see, Tifa she's a ghost, thus she doesn't quite exist so technically it's not cheating.

Aerith: Oh, don't worry Tifa. I'll return to the Lifestream pretty soon, and then you guys can work it out.

Holy shit yu gaiz, someone is making Calling into a video game. Square should sue them, they've completely stolen their ideas! Ghosts, mobile phones, ghosts contacting people on mobile phones, everything!

I guess Calling the second credits were really a teaser for a new game.

In old news that never got answered, is there a source for this 'ACC doesn't replace AC' thing yet?
