When I saw Aerith during Calling I thought that the sole purpose of such an event was to give us a pretty shot of her since the only facial shot we got of her was washed out by the back-lighting in the church.

I never put much thought into it either, but she looks so pretty there and that is a fact. Probably one of her most beautiful screenshots out there.

The real reason is that the original "Welcome Home Sex" credits were too graphic for the film to maintain an appropriate rating,

Could you be bothered for a source? I'm curious because I don't recall reading/hearing that anywhere. The entire point of her death in VII would have been made moot with a resurrection and I just don't see Nomura or Nojima backpedalling like that.

Actually... okay I was one of the few people who was glad he came back at the end of FFX-2 when I first played it but it's because I was living with someone and having issues and I got all depressed at the end of FFX and needed SOMETHING to cheer me up. Had I played the game when I was more healthy and better in the head, I'm sure I'd have thought differently.

At least with FFX 2 though, you get to pick whether or not he comes back

Do kids not get taught how to properly debate in schools anymore? We had a class for it in elementary school and in high school it was put into different courses but there were optional ones that focused on it as well. Sure, the topic of "what is canon?" isn't taught, but "what you can consider official sources" or "personal interpretation vs facts" is.

Well yes, but it wasn't so much Tidus coming back that bothered me about FFX, but more how Yuna's IQ was cut in half and became an annoying ditz. How do you go from innocent church girl to skanky j-pop star? Also the fact that X was a serious and emotional game and X-2 was just a joke.

Well I just think the whole LTD is a joke. It's a freaking game pairing for crying out loud. I think FFVII was about interpretation so there is no answer. Yes, you're right facts are key for debate so it would be smart to stick to those. A good debate is a strong feeling for the subject along with facts.

As for this debate, we are all video game obssesed nerds and like to over use smilies in posts and say a yaoi couple is tru canunzz for Final Fantasy VII. So you can't expect this to be like something Congress would take up. But, all I have left to say is a happy quote.
