The funny part is many of the people who like these/make them say "I love Cloti when they are a brother/sister, mother/son, friendship (fill in the blank with anything but a romantic association________) relationship" but...

If they like C/T as friends, why would they enjoy Cloud treating her badly? This is something I've never understood. You could never enjoy him being a dick unless you absolutely hated Tifa, no matter how much you proclaim to like her.

It extends to interpretation, too. For example (paraphrased): "Cloud left because she kept trying to change him and he got tired of her nagging and didn't want to be around her. Now would he do that if he loved her?"

My question is: Would he do that if she were a dear friend or a sister figure? No. He wouldn't do that if he loved her, whether it's romantic love or not. So he either hates her (how likely is that?), OR, your interpretation of why he left is wrong.

It's more important to them that they interpret the story in a way that confirms their pairing than that they interpret the story in a way that makes logical and psychological sense.

Well shit. This thread exploded while I was at work.

The scan does clear up a few things. Not the least of which is the whole "Cloud will be with Tifa" is just talking about location bullshit they pulled from the Reunion Files (it is the RF right?)

Tifa and Marlene, and Denzel asking for Cloud to heal his Geostigma-- his family were waiting. Engulfed in celebration, he realises where he is meant to live.

Also to the whole "Aerith and Zack don't leave together" BS

And when he turns around--- "she" is starting to leave.Together with the friend who had given Cloud his life. Cloud no longer has to suffer in loneliness...And so they too go back to where they belong.

Even then interpretation can be one of two things. Supported by canon, or wrong. If we were never told why Cloud left and nothing was said in the story to explain it to the audience, then all interpretations are just that, interpretation, even if it's a supported interpretation by a large portion of the fandom.

However, we are told, and why the Clerii think that their interpretation with quotes and scans from the movie and big long essays mean anything when there's a couple sentences right in an ultimania explaining it in simple terms is beyond me.

Come on Mako, pizza is a crucial facet to where Cloud's affections lie. Pizza represents accessibility and freethinking. These are akin to Aeris and him delivering pizza is akin to spreading the altruism of Aeris around the world.

Of course, Tifa wears leather, meaning pizza probably wouldn't stain so she'd be the better one to eat it with.

But if Cloud doesn't like pizza, I think it all stems from a moment he shared a long time ago with an old flame friend.

If it weren't for that &$*(#$ pizza, we could see the stars.
