The nostalgia wave and then the realization that it's been a decade since the Fellowship blew me away. I hadn't realized that it'd been that long.

When they were blocking the scene in Bilbo's house, it's interesting that even without the makeup, Martin Freeman looks like a Hobbit among Dwarves. That alone has me incredibly excited for the dynamic of the groups. Sir Ian McKellen just quietly wandering on set and trying to remain somewhat unnoticed was hilarious. The sets and props look amazing as always, and seeing Bag End and Rivendell again looking exactly the same has me super excited.

I'm wondering if, after the two Hobbit films are released, if there will be a final cut of Lord of the Rings with bits and pieces of the scenes from The Hobbit inserted appropriately (like where Bilbo is shown finding the Ring).

My friends and I tried a couple years back but soon realised 11 and a half hours were too much for us.

I did Extended Fellowship & Two Towers directly into the theater's Return of the King when it released with my dad & my little brother. I've also marathoned all 3 Extended editions at one point a while back. It's quite intense, but very much worth it if you can manage it, though being fueled by the power of fanboy/fangirl is pretty much an absolute requirement.

I am sad to report that Rob Kazinsky, who was cast in the role of Fili, is having to leave The Hobbit and return home, for personal reasons. Rob has been terrific to work with and his enthusiasm and infectious sense of humour will be missed by all of us. I should say that Rob's departure will not affect ongoing filming of The Hobbit, nor will it impact work done to date, as we had yet to film much of Fili's storyline. At the moment we are shooting scenes featuring Bilbo without the Dwarves, which will give us time to find a new Fili. I'll keep everyone posted with updates as they come.

Also, I attempted to watch all three extended editions with my friends before. We all fell asleep about 1/4 into Return of the King, but then watched it in full the next morning when we all woke up.
