Show me the post where the validity of her feelings is in question. (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm curious if I missed it.) I've read the argument that her emotions--where Cloud is concerned-- are tied to Zack, which is true. And that her feelings--in the same manner are questionable as to the why she loves Cloud. Not IF she does.

And by the logic of your last statement, why the fuck would anyone ever give a narrative then? Cloud hates Sephiroth. No, no, you don't need to know WHY, he just does. I'm...a little at a loss on that.

Hatred and vengeance demand rationalization in fiction, but love really never has. No one here is demanding such for Cloud and Tifa's love for one another, are they?

We have absolutely no rationalization for that, but it's there and we all accept it.

For that matter, try rationalizing love in real life. You're probably not going to be able to do it -- and even if you do, it's infinitely more fun to rationalize hate with "He killed that guy's mom and burned down his hometown" than it is to rationalize love with "Genetically speaking, these two drive each other fucking wild, and their personalities complement each other in such a way that they perceive a positive, longterm partnership."

I said nothing about rationalizing emotions, where the hell did you pull that out of? And yes, in fiction there needs to be a REASON for the emotions presented to the audience. The chemical reaction in the brains? No, but the basic root of that emotion MUST be addressed or the piece is shit.

And Cloti is given reason. Cloud had a crush on Tifa before his balls dropped and his affection built from there. Hers, is shown to have budded and grown while he was away, and came to fruition IN THE GAME as we witness her struggle with faux!Cloud and real!Cloud.

And I have never seen any argument where the standards of love we more put to the test and rationalized than Cloti, so I have no fucking idea where you get the idea that no one is demanding such rationalization.

This is not real life, Tres. It's a work of fiction. A story with a narrative purpose, and we as the audience need to understand the characters and their motivations. To say otherwise is utter crap.

No, I said give reasons. The reasons don't have to be rational, but they have to be evident. I don't need the writer to justify Cloud's hatred for me, but he does have to give me evidence that there is reason behind it--or that there is no reason and Cloud is a wanker, but there has to be some form of narrative logic behind ANY strong emotion in a piece.

Orrrrrr show that Cloud was attracted to Tifa because she reminded him of his very first love.

And attraction is the reason for the love. I AM NOT trying to rationalize attraction. People are attracted for a number of reasons: boobs, hair color, smell, reminding someone of your ex/dead-lover. **cough** But LOVE has to be expressly shown within the works for it to make ANY type of sense, and the reasons for that love can be OF COURSE based on the initial attraction. But when the INITIAL ATTRACTION is because the guy reminds you of your dead-ex, then yes, the "rationality" (reasons) for that love comes into question.

That doesn't come out until the end of the game where they "sleep" together. Then in AC you notice how she has that smile when she looks at him. It's like they're letting it build up, and I think we'll get more insight on what's to come when a new compilation piece is added to the storyline. Either way, I want to know what happens, how, when, where, the works. Any diehard fan would want that right?

Everyone who ever knew him in Nibelheim (except Tifa of course). Any number of Shinra grunts and SOLDIERs he might have known while he was working for Shinra. Hell, Zack's memories of the real Cloud are obviously flowing through the stream of consciousness somewhere. I call bullshit on your call of bullshit, this is 100% plausible.

Even though Aerith perceived that Cloud had lost sight of his true self, she still has great affection for him.

Although in the beginning, Aerith felt close to Cloud because he behaves like Zack, her interest in Cloud himself grows and is attracted to him.

Just making sure they don't get lost. Oh and I'm not saying THESE PROVE SHE KNEW CLOUD INSIDE AND OUT! Just that she had an interest in him even after she realized he wasn't another Zack.
