Thor has never been done "realistically" he and his universe are inherently unrealistic. If this shit is true, then all it is, is a knee jerk reaction of fear that a predominately christian society wouldn't be thrilled about a movie centered on Norse gods, being actual gods or some bullshit.

Two examples of something I would call a decent depiction from one artist. I think this would tie in better with the avenger universe they're trying to set up in the films, rather than that fake-looking costume concept. That's all I am saying. I'm not sure what tangent you're going on with Christian society, as I never made reference to anything about that. I'd actually love a Norse mythology film to come out, hell, I'd love a Christian mythology film to come out =P. I understand Marvel Thor is different from mythical Thor, but that's another issue I might discuss later.

dude, what the fuck, I thought you were talking about realistic depictions STORYWISE, not as in art direction.

What I meant about the christian bit is, a lot of christian folks, which are a majority in this country, wouldn't see a film like this simply on the basis of it being about "pagan" gods. So Marvel fucking up the plot by making it some "alternate dimension" bullshit would skirt that issue for people like that.
