My experience running awards competitions is that there is usually at least one person who sends in last-minute nominations, even if you give them an entire month. People like to procrastinate. I didn't bother nominating yet, but I might not since almost everyone I would have wanted to nominate appears to have already been nominated anyway. I still haven't decided whether it's worth taking the effort.

Though a reasonable compromise would be to just put it up as soon as he's finished organizing everything.

I don't think it's really fair to shorten the nomination deadline at the last minute. If there's quite a bit of advance warning that's one thing, but that's not the case here. I don't really care if they get closed first thing on the 30th, but people were told they had until the 30th to nominate, and on the off chance there are any stragglers who wanted to take as long as possible to think about the nominations, closing the nominations early isn't really fair to them.

It said the whole month from the very beginning, and it has always been the whole month of november and then the whole month of december was for voting. How come no one said anything then? Why do people always need something to bitch about with these things?
