I love it! I loved their closed eyes and their intensity, and also the shape of the heads and the jawlines. And their hair looks so soft. This ought to be on tumblr.
I wish you'd draw more.

It might be sleep deprivation and copious amounts of cherry coke but 'the shape of the heads' has got me giggling.

I'm in a fertile period now. I've got a few sketches in the pipeline and I'm trying to just be happy with the sketches themselves instead of worrying about stuff being perfect. I'm beginning to think that I'm more of a sketchy kind of person. So watch this space.

Ok so. I decided I was finished with this one. I've spent so much time on it I am now blue in the face. I'm not at all content with it, but I've learned heaps (both perspective and pencils, and lots about using Gimp) so it was definitely worth it!

He looks as if he might be at a Board meeting, trying to keep a poker face. Maybe Rufus is feeling him up under the table?

I took a peek at your other stuff. I love that Elena - she's so vibrant, Particularly the swing of her hair and her intense brown eyes. And your Angeal looks almost alive.

Well I'm sorta content, I think I'm just exhausted right now The hair was originally more "real", until my boyfriend pointed out it looked weird considering his face looked more cartoonish. He was right. The hair was a pain though.

Thanks! Actually the hair thing was part of the plan, I wanted to make her look very alive by making her hair, um, powerful. Which by your comment it looks like I managed! YAY! Sometimes when I draw stuff I am just lucky, so it's cool when I plan something out and I actually succeed

Only Tseng won't look nearly as camp as Roger Moore (I hope!) and on the other cards I'm thinking Reno, Elena, Rude and Cissnei. Then underneath will be a montage of other stuff with a focus on Shinra so Rufus, Veld and President Shinra will be in there too. Probably not going to include Cloud and co at all, because it ain't their movie dammnit! Suffice to say there won't be a speedboat coming out of an alligators mouth!

I'd post up a picture but its literally just stick figures now. I've probably bitten off more than I can chew here but what can you do eh?

Y'see I was wondering about his face, because in my head hes a bit pointier in the face dept. Its just that the angle of this pic is meant to be top down-ish and It didn't look right when I made him look pointy. As long as he looks cute is the main thing.

Also, if/when I shade it I'll end up making him look all wrong

The film itself it pretty ridiculous, even by Bond standards, Yaphet Kottos death at the end is so hilarious but I don't think they meant it to be. The best thing about Live and Let Die is the theme song and the poster!

Naw, I doubt that.

Thing is, the pointyness in his face is the thing that is so effin hard to do (see my new signature). I always end up making him look too butch, or to cartoony, or too old, or to... whatever. I think your version is pretty close to it, because with just lines you can't really portray that pointyness without making it look weird. Meh, hard to explain. In AC his face is sorta rounded but the combination pout/ nose/ sharp eyebrows still makes him look sharp somehow. My version right now looks too square, and I hate it. One moment I'm glad I made his face look real, the next I just hate the fact that he just doesn't look like Tseng anymore. But then again, my style (if I even have one) is much more westernish than japanese, so I could never make him look anime'ish enough anyway........... I just have to try to interpret what I think makes him and just draw that, I guess. Ugh. Stupid excuse for the fact that I JUST CAN'T GET HIS FACE RIGHT.

You do though. Embrace it. Do lots of smexy art

I think I am incredibly lucky. Do you want to know why? I'll tell you why. Because in this club there are not one but TWO artists who like to make Tseng-art. And I get to look at it!

I think Tseng is really, really, really hard to draw. Rude and Reno are easy to characterise because they have very strong distinguishing features that it's impossible to get wrong: facial scars and an explosion of red hair; bald head, glasses and a goatee. But Tseng's features are subtle. The hairline and dot are the only easy things about it. The shape of his face is particularly difficult.

Can we have a competition about who loves Tseng most? I read a fic the other day in which he died, and I was so upset I cried. Then I had to lie down for two hours. Then I had a dream in which I was robbed.

What fic is this that is killing Tseng?! I must smite the author for even thinking such things! (look how devoted I am! ) Was it the one where you only find out he's dead at the very end? Where they go to his funeral or something? That fic made me sad but I didn't cry because my 'cry trigger' is all fucked up and I cry at the weirdest things now.

What was robbed from you in the dream Licorice? Because it only counts as Tseng-grief if it was your wooly Tseng doll that was stolen!

Yeah, he is a difficult bugger to draw. It's hard to get the face shape right - Like Reno has a very slim almost heart-shaped face and a jawline you could cut cheese with, but Tseng is a bit more substantial than that but not round faced at all, or square. God! And even SE fuck it up sometimes because that pic from CC in your sig there makes his hairline too pointy at the front. Like Mickey Mouse almost! It's like he does have a bit of a widows peak but its not really pointy, more gradual. There is probably a mathematical formula to calculate the curve correctly.

I've been surfing deviantArt for Tseng pics in the light of what LicoriceAllsorts said about Tseng being hard to draw - and as apposed to characters like Reno (like you said, Octo) and Tifa and the likes, everyone draws Tseng differently. From one pic to the next he could be a totally different character. The image above here - I think this is is pretty close to what I consider as "Tseng". I've seen a few more that technically are better (and better looking and charming and awesome and whatnot) but I really really like the way he looks here. (Plus - hello favorite ship!)

Glad to see Elena taking the inititive for once! Yeah, there he looks quite Tseng like. I've said it before though, its kind of hard for me to pin down what I actually think he looks like, or at least how that would translate to real life. Obviously AC is his most realistic incarnation but somehow I think he's missing some of the intensity around the eyes that is in his BC portrait and even the original FFVII artwork. Kinda hard to explain
