DL'd Ulver too, my rip sounds a bit quiet so I guess it's either an early rip or the album's not participating in the loudness war, which should be good for quality :monster:. Will give it a good listen later, first impression is positive, but not overwhelming (yet). Then again, I don't think Ulver's the overwhelming kind of band, but just 'Ooh this is really good'. At the time, quite different from anything I had in my libary too.

Again, Aaron, I scold you for only giving me Nattens Madrigal back in the day (or scold me for only downloading that one), as while it's an okay album that's sure to get on everyone's nerves with its screetching guitars, it's nowhere near representative for what Ulver's turned into.

Septic Flesh - Babel's Gate

Their 2008 album is moast likely one of the best symphonic (death? not sure lol) metal albums evar, and overshadows all they've released before that.

Yeah that’s true, but didn’t I mention that all of Ulver’s albums are radically different? If not I must have assumed you already knew.

And yeah, the new album is definitely not participating in the loudness war. Thank God.

I should prolly watch that

btw I just discovered that part of the reason all the Ulver rips are really quiet is because they all seem to be vinyl rips, so idk what that'll mean about the CD version. That said Shadows of the Sun was a pretty quiet disc as well, but Blood Inside was pretty clipped. So who knows how the new one will sound.

Timeghoul - Boiling in the Hourglass

I wish all death metal was this awesome

so much better in FLAC omg. I'm noticing sonic details I didn't even know existed.

Krallice - Wretched Wisdom

This album was pretty much made for vinyl. Needless to say, on a proper stereo system it's just mindblowing. Next step is obviously seeing them live. If they ever come to Florida that is.

Krallice - Dimensional Bleedthrough

Maybe I should have left a little bit of silence at the end of my rip of their first album; the transition between Forgiveness and Rot and this song doesn't flow quite as seamlessly as I was hoping it would. Ah well.

Jayne!
The Man they call Jayne!

Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.

Our Jayne saw the mudders' backs breakin'.
He saw the mudders' lament.
And he saw the Magistrate takin'
every dollar and leavin' five cents.
So he said: "You can't do that to my people."
said "You can't crush them under your heel."
So Jayne strapped on his hat
and in 5 seconds flat
stole everythin' Boss Higgins had to steal.

Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.

Now here is what separates heroes
from common folk like you and I.
The man they call Jayne
he turned 'round his plane
and let that money hit sky.

He dropped it onto our houses
he dropped it into our yards.
The man they called Jayne
he stole away our pain
and headed out for the stars!

(Here we go!)

He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne...

I paused Krallice because my dad was listening to Days of Future Passed in the other room and even though black metal thrives on cacophony it was getting to be just a bit too much. I'll finish the album later :awesome:

Black Star - Thieves in the Night

I've had this song on repeat for at least forty minutes. I'd keep listening to it even longer if I weren't about to go to bed. One of the best goddamn things I have ever heard in any medium ever.

I don't usually go quite that far with my praise. That piece really is that good though.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Who Said That?

The entire For All Time box is amazing. Glad I took the time to acquire it.
