And Justice For All had some potentially kickass songs that just ended up sounding muddled and horrible =/ Nigh undetectable bass didn't help. Also, Megadeth! Symphony...of DESTRUCCCTTIOOOONNNN. Absolute tune.

Metallica - [...And Justice for All #01] Blackened [6:42]

shame about the shitty production on this album

Production notwithstanding, that's probably my favorite Metallica album. Blackened, the title track, One, Harvester, and Dyer's Eve are all amazing. Too bad they thought hazing Newstead was more important that putting out the best possible album they could. If it wasn't for the production, I think it would be heralded far more than it actually is.

Agreed, it's quite possibly their strongest material. I downloaded a fan-created "remastered" version of it that sounds a lot nicer, although it still doesn't have the bass presence that it deserves. There's another version called "And Justice for Jason" that I downloaded that should be self-explanatory but unfortunately it's only available in mp3. Haven't listened to it yet, but will do the next time I listen to the album.

Metallica - [Death Magnetic #06] Cyanide [6:37]

another Metallica album ruined by terrible production, although at least this one has the Guitar Hero III version. Not a patch on the '80s stuff but it's at least decent material.

Odium - [The Sad Realm of the Stars #02] Towards the Forest Horizon [5:40]

Finally getting around to listening to this after having owned it for like six months. This is lovely symphonic black metal. Unfortunately my hard drive decided it no longer wanted to stay connected in the middle of ripping it, causing Audition to crash. What an annoyance.

Thy Catafalque - [Tűnő Idő Tárlat #01] Csillagkohó [9:14]

another record I've been sitting on for awhile. Blood Music sent me this for free because I'd ordered so much from them, which is one of many reasons they're awesome. This is really good too :monster:

Neurosis - [Souls at Zero #01] To Crawl Under One's Skin [7:42]

Scott Kelly possibly has the best scream in all of metal, and Neurosis is obviously one of the best metal bands ever.

Nidhogg - [Those Mighty Once Fallen #04] Garm gjøyr [1:15]

evidently the material credited to Ildjarn on this split is actually by Nidhogg, which is due to a mess-up on Osmose' part (or maybe they just thought crediting the material to Ildjarn would sell more copies). There's a weird synth bass and drums demo available here:

which is an interesting alternate listen but I probably won't listen to it more than twice. At least it isn't mastered as poorly as the CD.

Not as good as Stones version. Never the less, it is more or less my intro music.

I made recently a top 10 best metal albums ever list, but I excluded this album? How stupid could I be?

I'm sure there is some underground thrash this good that I missed (I know the obvious ones like Pleasure to Kill etc.) If you have recommendations I want them.

Jochim finally jolted me to listen to this after hearing about it for years. Not sure why I put it off for so long. Anyway, solid stuff.
