The Playstation version is the same as the original Super Nintendo game except for a couple of very minor translations, plus opening and ending FMVs.
The PlayStation version also uses the original Japanese sprites. The SNES version censored a number of sprites including covering of skin and removal of smoke on some sprites.

The GBA version pretty much uses the same sprites as the PS, but Siren is slightly censored (but less so than the SNES) and there's another minor change.

But in the end the minorly different sprites don't change the game at all.

But something that seems to deter many people from the PS version of VI is the apparent slowdown. I didn't even notice anything resembling slowdown myself.

Currently playing through Final Fantasy VI with Flintlock and Kuroto. We spent several *days* tied up about whether to play this or IX before we began. We're discussing events and giving each other advice as we go, pausing for those who lag far behind. None of us are too familiar with this game—the last time I played through was several years ago—so it's been fun to make discoveries together.

At the moment we're all in Vector, infiltrating the empire :shifty:

^This makes me very happy! I finally got the Platinum trophy for Mass Effect 1, which in the end required 5 playthroughs - 3 full completist playthroughs so I can carry my level 60 Vanguard through to ME2 and another 2, one for an Adept and one for an Engineer. So happy I finally got it. Close to 130 hours in game time >_>, some of those trophies were a real bitch.

Looking forward to ME2, starting tonight. I only have 2 trophies to get in that game so it won't be nearly as annoying.

Also loads of people bought me games this Christmas, so I have a list to go through >_>.

Still working through Mass Effect 2. Should be finished tomorrow (wooo Platinum). On the whole, it's been fun. The extreme and uncharacteristic-for-this-time-of-year wind has been a fantastic excuse to stay indoors :monster:

I return to uni on the 7th of January, so I'm really hoping to be finished Mass Effect 3 by then. Much, much sooner if possible - other games to play!

Finally got Mass Effect 3 last night, and the cover sleeve was turned around instantly, the only problem is I also got Assassin's Creed III. Decisions, decisions.

Force as someone who has played through both games the decision is easily Mass Effect 3.

Was given this game to borrow. Certainly wouldn't buy it. Battle system is pretty basic. Probably more suited to a multiplayer. Haven't finished it yet, but I suspect it won't improve: 2/5 stars.

Assassin's Creed II.

Dare I say that so far I find Ezio to be kind of adorable? Besides the whole killing people thing... :P

Resident Evil 6

Another game given to me to borrow. Played Leon's campaign as his companion. It is actually a longer and better game than I expected. I dislike the pacing of the game, but other aspects are not too bad. Quick time events don't piss me off as much either (like they did in RE4). Still got 3 campaigns to do, and I guess I have several different characters to play as, so that adds to replay value. Since it is a borrowed game, I probably won't though. I'll just try and do the 3 campaigns.

Anyways, I'll give it 3.5/5 stars.

I am still playing Mass Effect, believe it or not. On Monday, that's a month of playing nothing but Mass Effect. Time well spent in my opinion.

Anyway, I'm halfway through the Leviathan DLC. Then I have the Omega DLC to do (for the first time). Then Priority: Horizon, Priority: Cerberus HQ and Priority: Earth. I'm going to finish it before my next sleep I think, unless Omega takes a really long time.

For reference, my goal was to get the platinum trophy in all 3 games.

Goals Acheived:

For Mass Effect 1 it was most difficult because I didn't already have any from previous playthroughs - it was only just released for PS3. Not only that, but it's more annoying than 2 or 3 because there are trophies for each squadmate for "using them for most of the game" and there are 6 squadmates. This required 3 playthroughs. I had to do 3 full playthroughs anyway, because on the first you unlock Hardcore difficulty (which there's a trophy for) and you have to complete the game on that to unlock Insanity difficulty (which there is also a trophy for). And none of that was fun. Enemies are ridiculously hard to kill. There's also a trophy for reaching level 60 on a character, which takes about 2 and a half playthroughs.

I then had to start a further TWO different playthroughs to use all of the powers 75 times. My class of choice is a Vanguard for the 3 playthroughs (half biotic, half combat fgj) which is kinda boring in 1.

For reference, the difficulty goes Casual - Normal - Veteran - Hardcore - Insanity. And ngl, Insanity is the hardest difficulty I've ever played any combat based game on, but I don't play CoD or anything.

Anyway got the platinum in the end, but it took about 160 hours :monster:

Mass Effect 2 - A lot of people say Vanguard is the most challenging class in this game (a vanguard has biotic charge that basically flies you at your enemy for melee/shotgun kills.... best ability ever IMO) but I chose Reave as a bonus power and imported my Level 60 Vanguard from ME1 so it wasn't too bad.

I also have this need to 100% everything which is why it's taken me so long, especially in 1. I did 3 needless 100% playthroughs, but I suppose it helped me get to level 60 faster. ME2 I just played it from start to finish on Insanity - some of it was challenging, some of it wasn't.

Platinum'd :D

Mass Effect 3 - Definitely the least challenging so far with the addition of the Nova ability. Charge-Nova-Charge-Nova-Charge-Nova.

Having said that, I've probably died the most in 3. The reason for that is with the Charge-Nova combo, you're basically invincible for the entire game but occasionally it'll glitch out and not let you use charge in the middle of combat, and about 3 bullets will kill you on this difficulty >_>. I found this especially true on Rannoch. The only real problem I had was with the 3 geth primes, they're ridiculously hard. I had to get Tali to sabotage just so I could get a tiny portion of its health down and then there were another two flanking you.

Other than some of the sections in ME1 (some of which I skipped entirely just by using barrier and running past all the enemies) that was the hardest part so far.

Banshees freaked me out before but occasionally I'll charge them and they'll grab me and put their horrific spiky hands through my chest *shudders*. They also move about 10 times faster on this difficulty and GENUINELY SCARE ME. I am NOT looking forward to the last battle on Earth >_>.

Assassin's Creed III, beaten. There's a still crapton of stuff to do if I so desire. But for now it's on Mass Effect 3!

We'll call this the month of lackluster endings!

You certainly will.

Having said that, if you've already downloaded the free Extended Cut DLC for ME3, you might not find it as bad as the rest of us did at the time. I suggest you check out the Mass Effect thread for our reactions, there's some humour in there :monster:

The Extended Cut managed to fix some plot holes and pads it out a bit with stuff that should have been there in the first place. It's still terrible writing though.

FFXIII - - all of the discussion revolving around Spoony's review of it and hearing that Fangu is playing it yet again made me want to dust off my copy and pick up at the save of my previously aborted second playthrough attempt :P I'd forgotten how long the Vile Peaks drag on for, though, it just seems like this portion is taking ages to get through!
