I'm wondering if there's a way to stream an emulator from my laptop to Twitch without needing to buy an elgato or something. (I've never streamed anything before so I've no clue what I'm talking about/doing.)

Been debating doing a livestream of a totally blind playthrough of FFXII, as I've never played it before and think the comedy of me makin' a hames of it would be semi-decent streaming material :monster:

In the meantime, playing lots of Civ after Flintlock illustrated to me just how atrocious I am it. I want to beat him....or at least present a mild, five turn challenge for him

You can stream anything from your PC to Twitch using streaming software (such as OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)), you only need external hardware if you're trying to stream from a console that doesn't natively support it (the hardware just send the video signal to your PC in some way so that you can stream it) so anything that's already on your PC is easy to stream.

So, Kev, when are you going to give me that challenge? :) I'm going away for the weekend but I'll be back on Sunday and Easter Monday is a day off, so Sunday night would work.

Playing Elder Scrolls Online... oh boy... I don't think I've played an MMO that works so well as a single player game before. It really does feel like Skyrim, but with multiple PCs.

Except that it actually doesn't, because Skyrim has a storyline and variation and immersion and shit (vs TESO's kill-ten-rats quests - you'll see after the first part). What I've seen also fails as being an MMO - there's literally no reason or encouragement whatsoever to play with other players, so all you see is other people running around trying to kill the same ten rats as you are. Actually that's the problem with most MMO's.

Gone back to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Getting to grips with the controls and that is easy, but Nightmare mode? Exactly what it says on the tin. :monster:

I got back into Titanfall for a bit, they're giving away the DLC for free. Apparently it's only a year old. I want the sequel already, :awesome:. The DLC just adds new maps which are kinda more of the same though, so far I haven't seen anything particularly different. I wouldn't have minded moar weapons, titans, etc.

Holy cow... Viscera Cleanup Detail... who knew that cleaning up after the average sci-fi FPS could be so much fun? Probably what makes this work so well, is all the references to stuff that happens in nearly every FPS:wall-mounted medkits need to be restocked, toppled crates need to be restacked, bullet casings and guns need to be cleaned up, body parts need to be thrown in the incinerator, etc. It's a nice break from all my faster paced games. And while it doesn't have a real "story" there's a lot of background hints that something is going on back at the office...

Final Fantasy 10. Played this once before, didn't complete it, so trying again.

Not... actually all that charmed. Just past Macalania and the plot is kicking off. Tidus isn't annoying exactly, but he keeps claiming that ' this is my story' when it's actually Yuna's. Also, while his issues with his father are understandable, when they're being brought up in the same breath that Sin is washing away towns I'm having problems taking them seriously. The encounters seem very repetitive, don't know why i'm noticing this here and not in 7, 8, or 9. There's the Flans, the wolves, the armoured ball-things, and the one eyed bats, with only occasional extra ones, all dropping to tagging in the appropriate character.

And the villain isn't very intimidating considering that I straight up killed him in an encounter where the challenge lay in his bodyguards and his summon.

Soundtrack is beautiful, though.

Playing FF6 on tablet and the controls are shit. I just spent an hour getting kicked off bridges.

Resident Evil 6. Had a lot of trouble with the
Carla
bossfight. Having fought a fair few 'attack the weak point' bosses by then, I assumed the solution had to do with boiling her eyes, eventually had to look up solution. Still love this series though (all of them)

Started up Battlefield 4, about a week long free to play via Origin - I like shit like that. Played a chunk of the singleplayer campaign so far, dem graphics are hawt. The game feels a bit slow / sluggish though in terms of gameplay, but then, I'm used to Titanfall now. I hope the multiplayer is a bit more fluid / fast / asdfhijkl.

Restarted MGS 4; I forgot why I stopped playing last time though. As it turns out I was only like an hour in last time (most of Act 1 basically). I've just gotten past
Shadow Moses now. Lols at all the throwbacks, :awesome:. Vamp took me a while to figure out, too - I scrolled past the Syringe and was like '...Nah I probably can't use it on him'. Had to look up how to do CQC again too, so far there's hardly any reason to use it in the game.
But that's one of the beauties of this game, the multitude of playstyles. I just do whatever's fastest / easiest atm because last time I played it I did it on Normal and it was too hard because I suck like the filthy casual I am.

I bought Kerbal Space Program the other day; I had played the demo aeons ago and I guess I just didn't get it. But, watched some tutorials and I'm a convert now.

Today was... interesting. Built a new booster that could get 7 tonnes comfortably into space, and figured I'd try a manned munlanding. That... kinda went the wrong way. I think my lander was just too big, it would cost too much fuel to slow it down enough to land, if I even managed (it was probably too tall too, the pictures on the internets all have really wide ones). After trying if I could get low approaches or something and at least getting some Science to take home, I tried to get back.

whiiich didn't go well. I managed to get into high orbit (like over 100K high) before I was all out of fuel. At that point I had closed the game and reloaded it and shit, so there was no way back - I should make a solid save before every important mission really.

So, rescue mission, go! I tried to build an unmanned ship first, the idea was that it'd push the ship out of orbit. Didn't go great, didn't manage to get into the same orbit / a rendez-vous going on. Plus it didn't have the automagic stability control. And it ran out of power. Whoops.

So I went for the other option and recruited Valentina Kerbal to go and rescue Jeb. Built a ship with a regular cone and a lander module. First time was fail because I put the RCS fuel in the wrong location. Second attempt... idk, maybe that's the one that worked, maybe I started again.

Third one was... Not great. I managed to get in close, but properly matching the other module in speed was a pain (I should redo the tutorial(s), maybe. Or get moar fuel). I eventually managed to get sorta close enough. Instead of trying to move my (heavy-ish) ship closer to the stranded module though, I instead switched ships and had Jeb do an EVA. 13 kilometers through empty spaec, and somehow, he made it, too.

...only to find out you can't actually access the lander module from inside space, :monster:. I googled how to transfer a pilot from one module to the other in the ship itself though, so he could hop into the pilot seat.

Now, I was kinda low on fuel at this point, but I burned at the right point anyway - good for about half the speed reduction I needed. I had loads of RCS fuel left, which was enough to get me down to a good re-entry vector.

One of my external batteries asploded during re-entry which made me shit a brick, but other than that, it's all good. I just wish I had Jeb take the science from the lander before having him transfer ships, :monster:

so wandered into Zanarkand. Stumbled across dark Bahamut, He one shotted two of my party, so I tagged in Yuna and gave 20,000 gil to Yojimbo and got lucky. For somebody that didn't cheat, the reward is pretty paltry, though. A decent, but not incredible amount of EXP, a pretty good item for Tidus that's almost useless to me (he has 2,500 hp, not going to be hitting the limit any time soon). And I don't even get a new Aeon, unless that's just because I didn't beat him the hard way.

Just started playing Life is Strange. It's pretty great, if I want SE games to be supermodern as they tend to be, this is more like it.

It's a fantastic game and was genuinely surprised when I first played it. Did you get the season pass?

I'm currently switching between that, FFX/X-2 HD Remaster and The Witcher 3. Might start playing Minecraft this upcoming Bank Holiday weekend, too.
