Holy shit, hacking integers? That was a fantastic read. The best part is that no one really knows how they derived that magic number. I say they sacrificed goats, like they do with most crazy ass algorithms. God I love computer science.

@ thread:

Playing Zelda II again thanks to this thread. The first half was easier than I remembered (i.e. getting the hammer wasn't too bad). The second half is a little harder. It's kind of a bitch having to walk all the way the fuck back to the other continent after getting killed three times.

Yeah, I haven't got a clue about that either. They had some computers crunch the numbers to check which one was the closest, and it was pretty close. Weird shit.

But that just shows that computers may just be too accurate, and in some applications it's more efficient to take a close-enough guess.

@thread, The Witcher 2's growing on me, :monster:. Killed the Kayran yesterday (which took me a few tries), for great winnage.

Also, shitty-looking sex scenes in video games look shitty. I like the attempt, but come on, it looks like shit.

I'm also missing the fancy pre-rendered epic CGI scene(s) that were in the first one - or at least the intro of that one, which is basically a winning short movie.

Seriously, they could make a movie or TV show out of this guy. If they do it right, off course.

Zelda II is great. It's horribly underrated a lot of the time, just because it's so different from the rest of the series. That said it is generally considered to be by far the most difficult game in the series, and I can't disagree with the assessment. I never was even able to beat it until I was in my twenties. Although if I had known out the trick with hiding in the corner to defeat the shadow I probably would have beaten it when I was like fifteen or something, since I managed to get to the shadow battle.

Bought myself a copy of dark souls. Just got out of the asylum. Fun so far, and decently challenging, though I understand what I've been through is jsut a warm-up for what I have to look forward to. Guess I'll find out soon.

Hnghn Battlefield 3.

The game doesn't look or run as good as it does in the trailer though, or maybe that's a matter of perception :monster:.

Also, fuck you Dice, lying about destruction again.

The MP is winnage too if only for the humongous cacophony. However, it loses points due to rubberbanding / lag and a feeling you're not quite in control of wtf you're doing.

And the server browser, while purty and working, is fail for not allowing you to connect or get in a queue for a server.

And it's not running entirely smoothly, frequent short hangups / jerkiness.

And graphical bugs like bits in your gun missing.

And the effects (mainly explosions) seem to be toned down somehow, they often look worse than in BC2.

And the sound is often not in sync with the visuals.

And uh. Yeah, I like complaining :monster:. Trailers look better than the game does.

Battlefield 1942. The launch trailer for BF3 made me want to play it again, so far I've beat the allied campaign on my custom settings of retarded AI, impossible death penalties, and impossible enemy bots vs friendly, plus bots cranked up to 310% and SO MANY PEOPLE TO RUN OVER WITH MY JEEP WEEEEE

Pokemon Platinum. Liking it better than I did Diamond so far. I've been playing it for a week, and I'm only at the third gym, which is weird, cause normally I obsessively play Pokemon games till I beat them.

Just played Uncharted 3 for about 3.5 hours, it is every bit as awesome as I imagined. Now I'm switching to Sonic Generations.

LET THE NOVEMBER GAME RUSH BEGIN!

So upon a whim I picked up Bad Company 2, and I'm surprised how given time my opinion of the game has completely changed :monster:

First time I played it, I simply didn't understand how the game worked. Jumping headfirst into Rush and Conquest after playing Modern Warfare 1 and 2 for so long didn't help things. I went in the first time with a completely wrong mindset in how to approach it.
"Why are my guns so inaccurate? Why is everyone out-shooting me? Why can't I do fuck-all as an individual?" Turns out that it defines team-based play, and while I still look upon Brink more fondly in that regard, I can't deny that Bad Company 2's multiplayer segment is just as polished and tight as any Call of Duty multiplayer portion.

It's taken me a long, long time, but I think I finally understand the game.

New game + on Batman. Surprisingly not as difficult as I expected, but still challenging. I intend to pick up all of the riddler trophies/riddles as I progress through the story.

I am proud of you, my son.

Get BF3 too if you have a system that can run it. I like how the machine guns seem to be more effective at actually killing people and things.

Just completed Saint's Row 3, great game. :monster:

Not sure whether to start again and see the other ending or get back to Assassin's Creed It's Enzo again or whatever it's called. :P

I got the DNA Sync'd to about 65% before getting Saint's Row.
