The only things I would have liked to have seen changed were what I consider some awkward animation at times.
There's a few instances of this throughout the movie.
The fight scene between Reno/Rude and Loz/Yazoo. The first time Reno gets flung like forty feet into the street and straight towards the camera just looks unnatural to me.
The Sephiroth battle. There's this one part where Cloud and Sephiroth are fighting atop falling rubble from the Shinra building. At one moment, Sephiroth is on one knee, pointing the Masamune at Cloud, and like...the very next fucking frame, he's on his feet, strafing sideways. It looks so fucking weird and unnatural and...bad.
And as far as the dub goes, the only three things I would change are as follows:
Mena Suvari. Christ. You had the decent Aerith actress right there in the fucking studio. What the hell, Square?
"I've got an answer!" says Kadaj to Rufus. That line makes him sound like the short guy in the thick rimmed glasses who used to sit behind you in Math class and got beat up everyday.
And finally, this is the big one for me. Sephiroth's final line in the film. It was supposed to be badass, chill inducing, awesomeness. The official script says this line is "I will...never be a memory." However, this is how Newbern delivers the line, "I will..................................................................................................................never be a memory," I mean Christ. The delivery is just so forced and fake sounding. No one would put a fucking pause in a sentence like that, even if they were dying. I always thought the line should have been delivered like "I will never...be a memory," with the pause after "never" instead of "will" but whatever. I don't get paid ludicrous amounts of money to direct subpar dialogue in crucial parts of feature films, so whatever.
It hurts, because Mr. Newbern is the best Sephiroth I've ever heard ninety-eight percent of the time.
