So, in the recent special, we saw Ice King's history, how he used to be a normal human, had a fiancee, etc, before his crown changed him.

Anyone think PB might have been IK's old fiancee? We know she's a lot older than she appears, and there's some physical similarity between them.

Or is that too neat and pat, do you think?

i think doctor princess looks a lot more like betty than pb. plus pb has said she's a fusion of bubblegum dna and human so if she WAS betty, she wouldn't be full betty, she'd be bettygum.

Well, Betty is/ was apparently a chemist, from the photo on nearly the king's table. Also had pinkish skin, IIRC.

And yeah, in this hypothesis, Betty would get turned into Bubblegum at some point. Possibly around the time of the Apocalypse.

And yeah, Dr. Princess looks a bit like Betty too.

idk i would believe pb to be young-ish, cause she did age down to thirteen that short while and then she aged back up to 18, it's not like the show is super inconsistent about her age. plus i think the only other person who survived the great mushroom war was marcy

I mean what went on to lead to the Nuclear apocalypse. Like maybe Ice King was doing his thing on a global psychotic scale, the frozen Lawyers were fighting him and that's why they were frozen, etc.
I need to see the Marceline's memories ep, since that apparently covers the time of the war a bit.

I'm certain that if you rifle through the website, go to the section with Artwork by the AT Staff, and click on "Pendleton Ward", you'll see an old image of PB and Marceline, with Marceline saying "Hey, Betty." and PB saying "Oh, hi Marcy!" or something like that.

also i wouldn't put to much stock in the original concepts -- they get shout outs in the show ("bootie me, finn!" comes to mind). in interviews iirc they make references to PB's family too (about them making her an overachiever) i would think betty's family would be long dead with her being human

my theory is that betty and a bunch of scientists used their DNA to fuse with candy thus creating the candy kingdom :monster:

I totally missed how scary that quote was.
The Nuclear apocalypse stuff is subtle but REALLY disturbing since it's everywhere now.
