Quite an interesting story but since I don't see a spoilers tag here... I guess it's best not to write the interesting events that happened in it.

I think there's a message Nojima's trying to get across with each of the cases namely...

  How one takes simple things in life for granted.

  The importance of family.
• Case of Barret
  Repenting on one’s sins.
• Case of Nanaki
  Living a fulfilling and busy life so you don’t let the hardships burden you.
