I can see what you're saying, or at least I can agree that there is definitely a link between the two men. Granted, it may not be what you were thinking. Besides the link with Lucrecia, I believe also the link to/with 'chaos' as a subject or as an actual being. Jenova seems to also be a destroyer; Chaos is one brought forth by the planet when its time has come to die.

The somewhat romantic look to the picture could be one reason why the picture holds a tad unsettled feel for me, but I don't believe that's the problem. No, I'm not used to homosexuality, but I do not ban it or consider it a sin or anything. I think it's more how these two characters are in their ultimate forms (as we've seen them thus far), so to speak. More it's double-trouble, in my mind. There's that connection, and yet, there's that repulsion too.

Hopefully you understand what I mean. If not, ask away, I'll try to put into better words my views. Please rest assured, it's not really anything to do with the romantic aspects of the picture. It's a very good picture! I just shared there's something unsettling about it to me.

I wasn't trying to imply that they're father and son, if that's what you're thinking I was thinking. I don't actually think that they are— I just like to defend the possibility.

Please rest assured, it's not really anything to do with the romantic aspects of the picture. It's a very good picture! I just shared there's something unsettling about it to me.

There's no reason for me to take it personally or anything like that—I did not draw it (and linked to the person that did). I was just curious as to why it provoked such a feeling in you and perhaps what you were feeling regarding these two characters. It's interesting that a mere depiction of two great fictional powers would actually unsettle you.

I haven't started it. Page 19 takes precedence, and the only thing that ever happens when I open Photoshop is I stare at it for a few hours with the tablet pen in my hand. (Then I open up Notepad and script some more notes on future scenes, so at least something is getting done. Kinda.)

You'll notice in the bottom right-hand corner, it says "Recieved 5/400." Lol at the thought of Vincent's 400-message inbox ever hitting capacity, but what do you think the other 4 text messages might have said?

Also amusing about his inn room, I noticed that it has a television and a candlestick. A television...but no lightbulbs. Lol Gaia.

As for the technology in Gaia - I think he had the lights off, but you know what - I never looked that closely. They are very technologically advanced, and yet some things we think they'd have (like pipes in the walls, not sticking out of the walls, at least primarily) they do not. Eh, I kind of like it, but it is odd (for us, I guess).

Haha, I didn't even think that maybe it's message 5 of 400 that he has open. I just assumed it meant he has 5 messages in his inbox, and that his inbox can hold a maximum of 400.

I also just noticed that Reeve's little icon there is Cait Sith's character portrait from FF7. xD

Yeah, he might just have the lights off, but there's definitely a well-used candlestick on his nightstand—

Of course, since it is an inn (right?), it can be assumed that he didn't burn the candle down that far himself, so it must have been used pretty often by the inn's previous occupants as well.

If it was his residence, I could definitely see him just totally forgoing available electricity in favor of candlelight... Silly Vincent and your old, stubborn ways!

Though that piques my interest as to how their TVs and cell phones/towers are being powered (mako?) and why they feel comfortable using such ameneties all WILLY-NILLY and such in a post-meteor crisis society... but that topic would be best for another thread.

XD Rawr. Heh, that's pretty funny. Kinda makes sense of my early (mercifully, unpublished fics) where Vincent referred to both Reeve and Cait interchangably (sometimes looking at Cait and saying Reeve, sometimes looking at Reeve and saying Cait). It was deliberate, he was taking the pi-- ahem. Yes.

Eh, maybe they just make shoddy candles on Gaia. Then again, we don't know what time of day it is, what season, etc., so we don't know how long it's been dark, and we don't know how long Vincent's been staying there. Maybe he just likes the symbolism of a single candle in the darkness, nearly burnt out. *shrugs*

In AC, Barret mentions oil-fields, so it would be safe to assume that they might be back to using fossil fuels to generate electricity (remember, Barret used to be a COAL miner, and Coral's coal industry was rendered "obsolete" by ShinRa's Mako tech). And I think the cell phones might be ran off of rechargable batteries.

Well, yeah, that might explain about him telling Cloud to tell Yuffie never to call him again. But people find their way around things.

And he probably did have the lights off. You have to look closley to see it though.

Well I'm betting on the other four being the "Welcome to the Service" messages you get with a phone, probably some important map of how to get to the hotel in Kalm (in case it was a different one than they stayed in in VII), maybe an embarrasing picture from the holiday party for blackmail purposes. But I can't see him leaving spam too long. The minute I get spam, the spam goes away.

And I think the candle is for romantic purposes. I just got a mental image of Vincent sitting dressed like he walked out of the 1800s in England, writing a note on parchment to Lucrecia by candlelight. He drinks his wine (which looks strangely like blood, or is that just me) and gazes out the window in nostalgic longing. He finishes his note with his quill made of chocobo feather, prepares it to be sent, then finishes his night reading something like the collected works of Sherlock Holmes.

Holy crap I must draw this now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: My girl!Vincent, at least one of them. Not bad considering I can't draw girls... I may do boy!Lucrecia just to balance things out.

It is not one of their sappy ballads. And it comes second only to Until It Sleeps by Metallica to fitting Vincent's demonic problems to a T. While there is a certain poetic justice to digitally abusing Metallica's music, I'm rather sick of that one, and them, so my vote goes to Stone Sour.

Ah muchisimas gracias senora! (Thank you very much!) I can utilize this at some point. I think one of my YouTube friends has officially decided I am the only one capable of making AMVs. I did a sketch of male!Lucrecia for any curious.

The blood = wine thing just came to mind since I saw Underworld over the weekend and Victor was drinking a goblet of blood.

On a more Vincent related note, SWACE is coming up here in March and I know I'm going to try and get Vic Mignonia to tell Steven Blum I said hi. But I was wondering if anyone would care to see a clip the two of them recorded at Kawaii-con. If you have that's cool, if you want to see it, I have a link. It's the funniest thing, Steven Blum starts singing "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt" in his Vincent voice.

Anyway... um... I got my hands one one of the original FFVII figures that came out when the game first did. Vincent naturally.

And five bucks says that somewhere on Gaia they have a vineyard that we will never find. Or maybe Grimoire's parents ran a vineyard after they retired or something. Because good wine should never go to waste.

yeah, I was going to, but fuck it, I just can't do anything right. so good luck with that.

I was going to draw a very risqué piece of him with Lucrecia and Chaos wings coming out of his back. But the sketch looks terrible, I won't have time to finish it, and it would just be another wasted effort that bounces unheard and unseen off the ears and eyes of all but maybe three people. I've poured my heart and soul into too many things this past month just to be met with the resounding sound of crickets chirping. so maybe next year, if somehow I manage to suck less by then. For now, I'll just leave it up to everyone else to whore around Mr. Valentine like they're going to do anyway.
