Well if I had been "trashing" Fang, Fangu would be 100% correct. I haven't played XIII and know next to nothing about Fang 
Of course I wasn't talking about her specifically, I was pointing out my firmly held belief that on neutral ground, Tifa will savagely beat most opponents to a pulp in a horribly one sided contest. That includes Cloud, btw, provided we take his sword away I don't think he'd stand a chance against Tifa in a fight

Both girls are really fucking strong. I have no idea who'd win in a fight. One thing for sure is that it would be one hell of a long and drawn out battle.

I know I know, you said "most". Thing is, when playing XIII, and I've heard a lot of people say this - Fang is the most awesome character you can have in your party, and 'strong' is sort of the definition of Fang. Not saying Tifa isn't awesome and strong, but the thought of Tifa fighting down Fang single handed ('beating to a pulp') just comes off as strange to me. I'd think it would be a closer fight, and who would win - I have no idea. Still think it would be Fang
Also, when searching for a gif to use I came across a wallpaper of Snow and Fang and I went THAT'S SO WRONG and then I saw one of Fang and Lightning and I was like 'a here we go'. Congratulations TLS

For the record, any fight between Tifa and Fang will end with Cid and Shera angrily storming in and demanding their good friend stop fighting their daughter.
Then Granpa Kain will step in and hit on Tifa, and then Cloud will try and kill him for it.

Cloud is already far faster, stronger, and has greater magic, when he isn't lugging around something three times his own weight, no way in hell Tifa is ever laying a finger on Cloud if he ditches the sword. And hell, he could probably stand there, let her have her way and she'd die of exhaustion before any bruises appear on his body. He's Cloud. He's died twice already.
We have been given no indications that she was out of practice. She was always a bartender. She didn't happen to be carrying her fighting gloves in her backpocket when AC happened, you know. She still fights, Marlene's complete lack of surprise to Tifa busting out her moves indicates as much.

Where does Fang's name appear in this post? I did not even mention Fang. I mentioned how awesome Tifa is by way of stating MOST PEOPLE who fight her would receive a savage beating.

That is true, and in which case Fang is properly having her ass handed to her

Of course we are, she was living a goddamn civilian life taking care of children and running a bar.
There is no indication that she was out fighting bandits and monsters to try and stay in fighting shape. She simply didn't have the time for that kind of crap.
Oh and hey, gloves are used for more than fighting.
She and avalanche gave up their materia and all of their equipment for a reason, so they could start anew and live their lives properly. Cloud was actively putting himself out there in danger just like Barret, and even he got rusty. Once he got back into the game he was whooping ass left and right.
There is no indication she was practising her katas or whatever bullshit people can come up with. Her primary responsibility was taking care of those kids, Cloud, and the bar so they would have some sort of stable living condition. Anyone who has been a homemaker knows that taking care of several people and running a business takes up a lot of time and leaves little for anything else. It is simple common sense and use of inference to know she had little time to be out playing around and indulging in unnecessary fighting.
Oh and just because she stopped fighting doesn't mean she forgot how or lost all of her fighting instincts.

Nothing she wasn't doing in FFVII as well.
What was keeping her busy??? Marlene and a bar didn't keep her preoccupied before? She's living in Edge now, no giant wall to keep away the monsters, it was only just being built. Why wouldn't she find time.
Rufus affirmed at the very start of the movie that Cloud still fights like the SOLDIER he thought he was as always.
Why do we need an indication that she was still practising? She was a civilian when she started her martial arts. She didn't pick it up specifically to be part of AVALANCHE, to get back at Shinra, or out of any desire to be a hero at all. It's a hobby that she had long before any of that and out of the hundreds of students that Zangan picked up, she was the best at it. Why does it taking two scenes before she kicks anything indicate that she deserted that?? If have no clue where this is coming from.
And they put away their materia because of the whole wasting the power of the Lifestream thing. The people that made the movie specifically mention that in the Reunion Files.

I agree that Tifa hasn't been fighting much, she is more interested in taking care of the family. She's become a Mother figure now. Case of Tifa doesn't say anything about her fighting, she's basically a stay at home Mom while Cloud is out doing his deliveries and shit like that. They were pretty much living a peaceful life (in terms of actual threats) until the stupid clones came to fuck shit up.
I believe Tifa could have been training? But I also believe she focused most of all on caring for keeping the family from falling apart. She can still fight, but she hasn't faced a big threat in quite awhile.
