But I didn't unlock Foxiest of the Hounds af;shdg;ashl;kahg;ahieg;woagh;aks;k

WHERE DID I GO WRONGGGGG

(I've got like, 42 out of the 49 available achievements though so I'm almost made; might as well just make one more playthrough to nab those last ones :monster:)

I've found that a lethal stealthy playthrough is actually a lot harder early-game: lethal takedowns are like, really loud.

That's why you use a nonlethal takedown then pop a shot in their heads with a silenced pistol while they're unconscious.

You get a lot more xp for non lethal takedowns anwyay.

Yeah it gets hella easier once I actually get the silencer, :monster:

The first augmented mission, though, I just tended to play through non-lethal out of convenience. I told myself I was going to murder everyone my second time around, but turns out it was harder than I thought lol.

That's no fun, though. For me, once they're down, they're down. Sometimes I feel like shanking a dude or two if they're real bastards and I can get away with it.

I'm also loving the Stealth part of the game and am thinking it's what MGS should have been. :monster:

The ending(s) were pretty weak, needs an epilogue for each major character/company depending on your actions thought-out the game & which ending you pick.

Fallout New Vegas had great ending for each choice you made, you really felt that you had changed the face of the Mojave forever, and that your actions had weight, that feeling of weight and accomplishment was missing from the end of DE3.

On my 3rd game now, only 3 trophies left to get. :wacky:

The thing with that is, they have to tie all of the endings to fit in with how the world of the original Deus Ex eventually turns out. It all has to make sense within the continuity. What you suggested is possible, but they'd have to be careful.

If there's one thing I would have to have a bit of a gripe with with the stealth, is that they've catered it to the cover-based system a bit too much. Now, I don't think there's anything wrong with the system itself, it's a perfectly functional thing to use, but there are times where (it looked like to me) toggling out of cover brought on an enemy alert/hostile phase. There's also the little design choice where you can be undetectable to a guard, who in real life would just have to look down and spot you with his peripheral vision :awesome:

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that they turned the cover-based system into a magic invisible sticky key. I still like it, it still works, but I wouldn't go as far to say that the stealth mechanics in itself are actually better than those of MGS.

Enemy vision/group coordination is also a little inconsistent, but I don't really have anything to compare that to since it's basically the same as all the near-sighted guards in MGS :awesome:

As for the endings themselves I did think they were a little underwhelming, but Mog had about the right of it; they were all supposed to be able to realistically segue into the plot of Deus Ex. Although arguably
Hugh Darrow's SHUN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ending
wouldn't have fit that criteria, the others I could have seen transitioning into the nanomachine/Grey Death story arc in Deus Ex 1.

And also, the endings actually made me think. I'm not sure many games can claim to do that for me :monster:

EDIT: Also goddamn this music is McCann's best work since Splinter Cell

Play on the hardest difficulty.

The stealth is definitely better than MGS.

Dude, I started on the hardest difficulty. The pacifist playthrough was my first. :monster:

I find it difficult to just claim so easily that the stealth elements are outright better than MGS. Right now on my second playthrough the enemy AI doesn't feel quite as consistent. Sometimes guards instantly alert every single other guard in the building when they spot me from more than a hundred feet away, other times I can slip right past their faces in half that distance without bringing up a peep.
And unlike the camouflage index used since MGS3, there's no real indicator of how well Jensen is hiding based on, say, light-and-dark factors, and I feel that the line of sight indicators used for the guards doesn't really represent their real cones of vision. It's as if going into cover instantly makes you undetectable no matter how close they are.

Smells like bullshit. I've been detected while in cover several times.

You HAVE all of the indicators at your disposal. I have never been able to run right in front of an enemy without being seen despite distance. The further you're away from them you'll won't get an immediate alert, but it will definitely raise their suspicion and cause them to investigate your last/current position.

Oh, and the stealth augs that allow you to see cones of vision DEFINITELY highlights their line of sight.

MGS's enemy do operate off of cones of vision, but they sure as hell were not as aggressive, or alert to their surroundings. Fuck the enemies in this game can detect you if you're in a separate room just running at normal speed.

I'm not completely disagreeing with what you're saying, but sometimes the cones of vision don't really look like they're very indicative of distance. Sure, they show the spread, but they can see far further than what's actually being shown on the radar.

ofc that's just turned into a bit of a petty gripe :monster:

Just started the game, I can run it on glorious 1920x1200 resolution with everything maxed out, 'cause I'm awesome like that :monster:. It doesn't look like it's pushing the limits graphically though - well yeah, the graphics are pretty, the level / scene design is win, lighting's good as far as I can see, but the technology doesn't seem like it's anything new. Buuut I didn't expect it to.

The game would certainly have benefitted from the facial animation technology used in L.A. Noire though. I do hope the next generation of video games has all that.

Related: I actually got some time to play this over the weekend.

I managed to find and hack into the weapons dealer's house long before the mission showed up, which was quite satisfying when the mission arrived, and I knew what tp expect.

I do have one question. There's the mission to disrupt the signal that's hacking into the Serif HQ from D-Row, as well as the dirty cop assassination / weapons planting side mission that also involves going into D-Row. I was doing them at the same time, since their objectives are really close together. I just wanted to make sure that the completing the main mission won't destroy my side mission, because I just got flown off to some base somewhere from the antenna.

Only ridiculous moment so far: Cops absolutely ignoring Jensen crawling into vents in their office.

I've still managed to progress thus far without killing anyone, though I've had a couple tough scenarios. to work out. I've got my hacking up to Level 2, Wall-punching, X-ray vision, and the social enhancer, which has been really useful. Right now I'm trying to determine if the Icarus landing system, or the double takedown would be more useful when I have the Praxis to spend again.

Only disappointment thus far: The battery doesn't seem to have an augmentation to recharge once it drops down to a lower cell, aside from energy bars, so I'm typically wandering with one bar of battery power. :\

I trawled the internet for a while searching up the Adam Jensen model (don't ask) and came across the thread which managed to rip the facial textures from the game.

They were a pretty low resolution, although I have a feeling that might just be the limitations of their Tomb Raider engine =P

Yeah, it's grown on me too. I like the detective / stealth / FPS / puzzle game combination. Also, it seems very much MGS-inspired, with the sneaking around and, perhaps moreso, the air ducts :monster:.

I mean, yesterday it pretty much went like "Hello officers, I'm just this dude with sunglasses crawling into your office, excuse me while I steal the vodka from your desk. All right, I'll be off then, back to the air vents, tally ho!"

Rather silly r'lyeh :monster:. I'm playing it a bit inconsistently though - on the one side, I've got my inventory full of weapons and stuff, on the other, I'm kinda trying to avoid getting caught because firefights aren't particularly easy (especially when they're lobbing grenades). I'll probably have to play it again twice, one going for the uber-violent approach, the other for the uber-sneaky one.

You basically only need to keep your weapons for the boss fights, :monster:

Oh, and a lot of ProEnergy bars. Those things are like fucking candies man, you gotta pop them over and over again :awesome:

Only if you actually use energy with stuff, :monster:. I think it's kinda fail how only the first energy block regenerates, :(.

The tranq gun's kinda lulzy too, took out half a dozen of gangsters with it, never knew what hit 'em :monster:.

Just finished the first boss (or, I believe it's a boss considering I spent a shitton of ammo on the dude :monster: ), fail that I couldn't do a takedown on him. And am now in the second major area.
