So, I went through the first mission...

I made it a ways without killing anyone, but finally got caught in a corner, and had to gun my way out of it, since the Tranq Rifle has precious little ammunition, and I hadn't found any more for it.

It took me a good period of time before I managed to really got down the system of moving around and killing people, and using the Map as a guide. It wasn't until I got to the end and managed to negotiate so that the hostage survived, and the guy walks away that I remembered that there had been a secondary objective of rescuing hostages - who all get killed during the SWAT raid.

SO, it looks like I'm loading a save, and going to work my way through and see if I can find the hostages this time BEFORE progressing to the end.

On a side note, you can kill all of the SWAT team and the hostage before taking off, though I'm not sure if it affects anything, since I decided to restart just after that.

Pretty wicked documentary about the real cybernetic technology that we have now, and how it compares to Deus Ex.

Man I was having a blast with this and then I reached the boss battle with Barret and the thing just crashes during the cutscene. >:

I love the immersion, but atm I wish there was a faster way to go around the city hubs, or at least the option, because I'm in the early Detroit section atm and there's a lot of fucking walking from A to B, with very little to do in between besides pick up the occasional side-quest.

It's great to go exploring and the little things I find is great and all for the flavor of the entire game, but there are moments where I have no fucking clue what to do next and going to the next objective is an exercise in tedium.

I noticed this too, and I think the reason why this isn't an issue in the first Deus Ex, is because the first Deus Ex had a lot of padding. And I don't mean that in a bad way; no, there was a legit shitton to do and find and get involved in. One thing I find that the original did better was the sidequests; the sidequests in HR are TOO big, each one is a massive undertaking that even gives you an achievement/trophy, and they definitely feel finite.

The first Deus Ex had a lot more sidequests that ranged from the robust to the minute; one quest involved infiltrating a secret sewer base for a weapons smugger, and another was simply stopping a murder from going down as you happened to walk down the street. Also, the first Deus Ex had actual conversations between JC Denton and NPCs, note the political argument that JC has with the bartender in Hong Kong, and the entire conversation that's hidden that JC can have with the AI in Morgans apartment in France.

While HR has sidequests that have scope, Deus Ex has a whole toybox of events scattered all over the games world that you could play through the game a dozen times and still find a brand new interaction, conversation, or quest.

In all fairness though, if your doing a main quest and you come across the sidequests one by one. You tend to find that the areas you travel to then overlap and you don't have to continually walk from one end to the other.

e.g
While your on the main quest to get the hackers data node from the morgue you can also do all the side quest jobs relating to your gf's death as well as also meeting up with the business man that your ex partner is trying to nail for attempted murder etc.

Really loving the game though, it's got all the best parts of MGS in it without a fag pretending to be a ninja.

Also anyone else seeing the irony of having one of the main bad guys who just happens to have a gun for an arm, named barrett?

Trouble is that often I don't notice everything in a linear fashion. Also, there's a point in the Detroit hub where I did Jenny Alexander's sidequest, snuck through everything all fancy-schmancy, and then when I go to do the last main quest on my list I have to backtrack through bloody everything.

It could have been convenient if done in a certain order, but on my first playthrough I'm sure as hell not going to be able to just do that unless I had a walkthrough sitting on my lap.

And yeah the irony of gun arm Barrett guy has been pointed out a couple times on the internet. :monster:

^ This. Stealthy Stealthy. :shifty:

I've completed it on normal difficulty. :monster:

I didn't bother with any of the "Stealth Enhancer" augments, there is about 6 of them, and I got the "Pacifist" Trophy (don't kill anyone) & the "Foxiest of the Hounds" (don't set off any alarms). So my advice is don't bother with them as I've proven you don't need them.

Also in the trailer I saw that you could see thru walls, which upgrade is that?

Visual enhancement if memory serves...
First one is seeing through walls and the second upgrade is detecting threats through walls.

Ofc you need to upgrade your strength to punch through walls to use it against anyone.

Only upgrade thats really useful when you want to mix stealth with brute strength is upgrading your ability to fall and not receive damage with the shockwave upgrade so you can essentially take out a few folk without actually alerting them.

Does this in anyway affect the ending or outcome of the game? if not, then YAY!

Doubt it would lol.
The main things that effect the ending are the decisions you make in missions/conversations.

DXHR DLC ANNOUNCED

The Deus Ex: Human Revolution conspiracy grows deeper in The Missing Link. During lead character Adam Jensen's quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, he mysteriously vanishes for three days. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all.

"We are very excited for Deus Ex: Human Revolution fans to be able to complete Adam's journey in the game with The Missing Link DLC," said David Anfossi, producer of Deus Ex: Human Revolution at Eidos-Montreal. "Gamers will be able to experience a vulnerable side of Adam like never before, which gives the overall game a whole new dimension. The Missing Link propels players into compelling gameplay, beginning with Adam being stripped of his use of augmentations, new, visually stunning environments and the continuation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution's conspiracy rich story."

After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected. As Adam, gamers will befriend new, mysterious allies and fight ruthless enemies to discover what was happening in the shadows during the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
