also bows absolutely sucked donkey balls in Origins. Now in 2 they're the most buff thing ever of all time :3

Fenris is great with crowd control and puts out a helluva lot of damage, kills anything in his path pretty damn quick (and quite honestly probably puts out the most damage second to maybe the player character), but he really is a glass cannon and I think putting him in the party does require putting someone else that can draw attention away from him since with enough focused damage on him he can go down really quick.

Case in point: in my playthrough,

Fenris joined the templars and despite romancing the guy I had to end up killing him. My rogue and her party put him down in less than a second. My rogue's Backstab alone took about 3/4 of his health

The higher-level enemies that turn invisible and backstab absolutely piss me off, lawl. They can take off massive amounts of health. NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT ONLY I'M ALLOWED TO DO THAT BECAUSE I'M THE PLAYER BOO

Aveline is really wooden, but when you put her on a team with Isabella they become awesome foils for each other, and are honestly downright hilarious.

Yep the bows did suck in Origins! I tried to say that but apparently I am wrong about that? I felt they all sucked in the first game though, maybe I did it wrong rofl, wouldn't be surprised.

I do like how Aveline and Isabela interact. XD But ... IT'S NOT WORTH ITT

Aveline is terrible, everything she says makes me want to punch her in the face. IDC if she's the only decent tank, annoying people have no place in my party.

If that were true Fenris wouldn't be in your party. I'll take levelheaded, reasonably authority figure tank over jerkass, hypocritical tank any day.


The archers were definitely improved in DA2 but I prefer daggers myself. I do use archer Hawke on one important fight,

when I'm fighting the Arishok, my strategy is run, run, run, wait until he runs into a wall, hit him with a arrows, throw the dog at him, repeat process.

god the Arishok fight is probably the most stressful thing in the entire game

Even the last boss fight wasn't as bad, at least with that one it was a wide open space with interesting interludes

really? i like that izzy gets him to dial his dickishness down whenever she's around and i like that it's just easy and refreshingly non dramatic
i like femhawke/isabela more but i can't imagine isabela only being with one gender she's just too....isabela for that 8D

also party talk uh i think i use merill and fenris the most and switch out with the rest depending on the situation/dialogue prompts

but aveline is really good at soaking up damage so i use her a lot too esp during deep roads missions

Well, if Fenris and Isabella have a thing if you don't romance them, Carver seems to have a crush on Meril. Which is weird considering the blood mage thing.

tbh, I have wanted to strangle every single character in DA2 with the exception of Varric. idk, all the characters in this game are so broken.

Because I like those hate pairings. I also like how Merrill handles all of his bullshit, just lol. Merrill is just the best. xD

It takes a lot for me to really hate a character though so... there are certain character ticks that just piss me the fuck off at the same time too, however. XD

I was like "I'm gonna kill Isabela for this". Earning the "A Worthy Rival" trophy and him calling me Basalit-an was awesome.

Yeah, Varric is the coolest dude in the game. Aveline and Isabela earn themselves one, Merrill earn herself a few, Fenris and Anders too many count in just the first Act alone and Sebastian is really none existent. Varric and Bethany were the only that I didn't want to strangle.

I wanted Varric's narrative framing to come out a little more. Besides one incredibly awesome moment, I felt it was a wasted opportunity to have the game become some sort of fantastical journey told by an elaborate spinster.

The way the plot was structured was great, but imo they should have added more than a couple of statements at the beginning and end of every act. Maybe a snarky remark at the end of every major plot quest, followed up by Cassandra's incredulous "what the fuck did that actually happen"

I've actually been playing through II again. My opinions about the game haven't *really* changed, which is interesting~

The cooldowns and environments are the worst offenders, even now that I'm playing on Casual difficulty (I played on Hard my very first time), but I'm finding the characters to be still just as fun to play with as it was the first time around. Personally I've warmed up to them a lot even more than I did for the characters in Origins. Even skank!Isabela

While I don't play it nearly as much as Origins I've always enjoyed playing DA2 and I think all things considered is still a good game.

After the shit pile that DA2 turned out to be, I don't know if I will even bother with Inquisition. That's pretty sad, really... I loved the first game.

A lot of DA2 shortcomings were due to EA forcing Bioware to make the game in less than a year, Inquisition has already been shown to be back to Origins form.

At this point I have to wait to see it to believe it. Bioware has lost a lot of trust with me between DA2 and the ending of ME3, and what they've done in the meantime hasn't exactly helped regain it... although I will admit the ME3 Citadel DLC did give them a big boost towards that.

I think a lot of us lost faith in Bioware after the ME3 fiasco alone but with the time they've had to develop Inquisition and what has been shown already there's little chance this game is not going to be good.
