*bump* I've found my copy of FFVII. It's still pristine. Still has the FFVIII preview disc too. Feel free to chuck it in the goody bag/auction/however we're doing this, I'll pay the postage to its new home.
Might have to have one last bash now I've got another Playstation.

I am dying to go to this so much my heart aches for it but there are a few pragmatic points I need to make:

1. Tets is already going and can actually afford it, so we'll have coverage whether I go or not.

2. Getting flights and accommodation sorted is going to be an absolute nightmare since it's so close.

3. I can't afford it and I feel shitty relying on the charity of others to go, even though I'll be sacrificing a lot myself.

4. I have zero time to reasonably invest in this until the weekend because of exams.

I'm not saying I'm not going to try, or that I don't want to go because going to this, covering this event for the site is like my dream, but I've been avoiding putting these words in this thread because it makes it real and I know everyone must be thinking these things too. It's just the way the cookie crumbles right now, and it's why I haven't been bumping the shit out of this thread and promoting everything to try to raise money. I'm kind of hoping a miracle will happen and the amount I need will just fall out of the sky.

That would require being able to get into the conference however.
Keep in mind those aren't technically part of the E3 and require separate invitations by the companies holding them.

It'd be cool if we could get at least into the Square Enix conference seeing as that isn't one of the livestreamed ones and us reporting from there would have more value.

FWIW, I know someone (by association) who works at an Activision company who is working on something top-secret. That might get a reveal at E3.

Look Lex, right now I'm poorer than a hobo's dog but I'm willing to do something pragmatic to nudge this boat along. Start a Kickstarter and I'll whore it as best I can.

Im going to push to try to get some thing completed, namely Case of Shinra, Possibly more translation stuff, the LPs.

Case of shinra rests on one of the voice actors completing his lines. Then I can push to finish the mixing.

The Turks novel, I can do, but I do need help with certain parts. It wont be a perfect translation, but it will get the story across.

I can hand off the LP commentaries to Ryu, or anyone else who wants to do them, though they don't really take up a lot of time

If you all want these, I'll do my best, as long as we can raise the money.


Another way we can raise money is to share the stuff on our youtube channel. Monetisation is turned on on alot of the vids, but they dont get enough of an audience to get up the ranks or bring in any money from adverts.

I dont want people to give false clicks, but is anyone wants to share these playlists, leave comments and likes

Fair enough, I don't know why I asked that when I knew the answer lol.

What I'm going to do right now is look at pricing for everything and see if it's all still at the same level and it's still feasible. Flights etc were on or around £700 at the cheapest last time I looked, now that we're quite a bit closer they might be up or down.

Following that if it's still going ahead, I'll open a page for donations etc by the end of today.

I did a quick check, accommodation is likely to come at around $200, flights are anywhere between $700 and £2300. :/ Airport coaches and shuttles between hotel and venue are about $15-20 return IIRC.
IMO you'll be looking at more on accommodation/food to get the cheaper flights. Three times the flight costs is exorbitant. You could probably knock it down with transfers and inland flights but that's more faffing. Though if you're prepared to be over there for a week, you might be able to couch surf with forum members and bum lifts outside of the show dates. Also, be careful, Virgin's link from the E3 site has the wrong show dates.
Might be worth phoning the accommodation direct, explaining you're there on a journo basis and seeing if you can get a better discount for a plug on the site.

EDIT: You've missed a cutoff date for some accommodation bookings too, but some of our Cali members might be able to make useful suggestions here.

Yes it would, you can get a one bed room and switch every night with sleeping in the floor and bed.

Also I still haven't gotten a reply back from E3 so if I get approved it would be even cheaper to get a room because then we would divide the cost three way.

I can be a personal chauffeur, so long as I can has permission to leave work. As I've said, the LA convention center is less than 10 miles from my house, and only 3 miles away from my job. Sooo, that'll be like 3 hours in traffic, give or take.

Nggg, E3's site is down, or I just can't access it right now. I'd need to know the dates and times leik, now so I can schedule time off and/or let you all know how available I am.

June 10th is my anniversary, so I was probably going to take that day off anyhow.

Unfortunately, I don't have a couch for you to surf on; I'm renting a bedroom. If it's food you want, I gotchu covered whenever I cook.

EDIT: you know, I'm just going to request the 9th and 10th off from work right now. Why not.

EDIT EDIT: I just realized that there are a potential 3 of you going; be forewarned that my car is very small, and my SO will probably be going with, since he knows the streets much better than I do. My car holds 4 people, at a maximum and it will drag/scrape. :|

Yeah, I didn't even bother with the ones listed on their site. Most of them are booked out anyway.
There's boatloads of other options. It is LA after all. Just gotta avoid them crappy motels in shady areas.
