That vid makes me feel so inferior. :'(

Don't let fake ping-pong get you down.

Eh, there's an easier way to do this. TENNYO! Please work Bruce Lee into the club charter. And make español the official language of Faith while you're at it.

Semi on- *strangled choke* topic... I see some new faces in here. Who here actually "ships" Cloti? I'm not a shipper. I clicked on ACF's LTD at random one day, where I found an interesting group of ne'er-do-wells including Charlie, Fighter, and the Demon (who used to disagree with me a lot, LOL! I miss trading those huge posts). At some point I started posting in Faith because it's the where interesting people from the LTD where hanging out.

What brought all of you here? Shipping? Fan of one/both halves of the pairing? Old peeps included, I don't know/remember all of your stories.
[/quote]

I got invited. You people amused me. I stayed.

With regards to the LTD as a whole, I got involved initially when I saw people fucking up the story. To date, the LTD is the only topic about which people consistently fuck up the story, though I still need to bust a few heads about Sephy's parentage and whether or not he used Jenova to appear to Dio with a 1 on his hand and whether or not he has one on his own hand.

But yeah, I see the LTD as just another part of the story, with a definite answer, and people intentionally distorting the related aspects.

I am here because I like a coherent story. And I fucking hate when people distort shit and make them incoherent for their fanon crap.
FF, Rockman, Xeno, whatever. You fuck up the story, I have your number.
That even includes the original writer, but even then I can only complain, I can't change things.

Bruce Lee I can do, but Spanish? Sorry, no comprende.

Re: Faith v. 3.0

I don't "ship" Cloti. I think some fanart is cute, but I'm a sucker of all fanart really, I don't have to be a fan or even know what it's from and I still might love it. I guess you could say I "ship" Cloti as much as I do any other canon couple. I love them, love their adorable moments.

I hang here for similar reasons, I've made friends over my short time on LTD threads, and they all seem to hang out here.

Time to make confessions, eh? ;)

As for me, Im a Cloti fan simply because Im a FFVII fan. I love the story so much that it really annoys me when some ppl try to twist it into something different, not to mention ridiculous.

I'm a Tifa fan, and I saw Cloud and Tifa as the ~canon~ couple in the game, so... that's why I joined Faith. That, and some of the members there seemed to be sarcastic, funny, and fun.

I actually took over the ~*original*~ Faith at one point (ah, good times). The Demon took a vacation this one summer, and left Faith in my hands. I, of course, turned it into my own personal little fashion/shoe club. I'm sure that plenty of actual Cloti shippers hated me for that.

Where do I start? :monster:

I thought I was a shipper until I found out what it actually meant. Then I figured I was more of a Clephiroth and less of a "OMGZ, let's put ribbons in our hair and name our firstborn puppy Tifa"

I like Cloud and Tifa together because I think the story actually goes to great lengths to show us they are meant for each other. I wouldn't give a shit about them if these two did not have the interactions they do. And it is because the story is the way it is that I not only like the characters, but like them together. You know, because they are together.

Faith was pretty much a place where cool people gathered, for me. It was also where we made fun of the stupid, and i don't mean the people, so much as the ideas and bastardization of a story that I really like: FFVII. Most of the cool crew had a sense of humour, did not kiss ass every other sentence, and actually had their own opinions. They also didn't sugarcoat and they knew what they were talking about for the most part. Often times, we disagreed, but the make-up sex was great :monster:

And we all loved love shoes and boobs. :)
and left Faith in my hands.
In true Cloti fashion, we're all about the incest, mom.

who used to disagree with me a lot, LOL! I miss trading those huge posts
LOL
That was, like, our Golden Age.
I don't even know if we can go back to view those anymore

I liked the story, liked the characters, didn't like that turned on his head the way only clerii can. And people at ACF were having so much fun tormenting the crazies. Boobs are always a plus.

I'm actually the leader of you all. I hide it behind a guise of neutrality. Until one day when I'll lead you all into battle. While I sit back and have tea.

But seriously :monster: I used to get asked Japanese questions about LTD stuff, which is how I first heard about it. I didn't bother with FFVII fandom until AC, so ACF was the first I knew about it. At first, though, I think it was solely C/A related stuff. So that's all I really knew back then.

I could have gone C/A or C/T at that time (maybe a little more towards C/A). As I started following it more, and then with AC's release and everything, I just thought it was pointing more to C/T. I couldn't/can't see C/A carrying on in the way people suggest.

I like looking at pictures, because I like pictures, but I don't really 'ship' anything. I don't really like C/T or C/A more either way. But since you can't truly be neutral unless you're posting on a C/A forum, I will have to bear labels being thrown at me. But I'll always have a heart full of neutrality :monster:

We heartless neutrals with our hearts full of neutral neutrality.

But yeah, the Clerii claims simply don't make any narrative sense, and that they keep mangling languages to make these claims isn't doing them any favors. You boggle at Koi-----Bito, but the one that really boggles my mind is taking 'tender memories'- which I've always heard used in English to refer to fond memories- and insisting it means a form of tender that applies to physical injurites.
Stuff like that. Then again, I guess you can't trust dictionaries, because upon checking tender, what do I see but '1. given to sympathy or gentleness or sentimentality; "a tender heart"; "a tender smile"; "tender loving care"; "tender memories"; "a tender mother" [ant: tough]'
Y'know, just like how we can't trust dictionaries, instructional materials, the common usage etc. with koibito, but instead must take the particular usage by netters as the way a man in his thirties would use the word.

I cannot understand the 'tender = painful' thing. That just seemed to be pushing it to me.

It's 'important/valuable/dear' in the nice sense of the words, the original line leaves little room to question it (??). Unless, of course, that has another meaning too.

Heh, I joined the original Faith a little too late. I don't even remember what my user-name was back at ACF. I enjoyed reading through some of the comments though, and I had enough time to post a few of my own. I'm a shipper, I love the pair, and I always have. It's not because Tifa is my favorite, or because I want "my character to win". It's because these two have an amazing bond as presented by the creators, and I am a sucker for love stories. (Not saying FFVII is one.) I've had a tendency to like all of the canon pairs (minus Squinoa), though I think a lot of fandoms are cute. C/A is cute, but the shippers of that pairing really ruin it for me- in the sense that, I thought C/A may be some-what plausible but they twisted it to an insane degree that just proves the desperation of it's fans. Which is a shame, though I have met some very nice C/A people. (And some who pretended to be nice, but weren't. -waves fist- Sneaky little tyrants! XD)

This, pretty much.

I do like Cloud and Tifa as individual characters, but it's the canon that's made me like them as a couple. Had the canon not been as it was, I probably would not ship them. I prefered Cloud/Aeris on my first playthrough. Upon my second, when I grasped the story a whole lot better, I realized that Cloud/Tifa just made so much more sense. So yeah, I've prefered Cloud/Tifa ever since.

Shipping... the word has a sort of negative connotation to it, but I do consider myself a shipper, I guess. I just find pairing fun, nothing more. I enjoy fanart, and the occaisional fanfic (even though it's hard to find something well-written). I think fan creations are a great way to display personal views on characters without having to write long, analytical essays. Plus, all the hypothetical situations is just fun and atr times, gratifying.

Of course, it's always fun to ship crack and non-canon pairings... but for some reason, I tend to drift towards canon. I guess I'm just a boring person that way. Though I do enjoy my fair share of crack also :monster:

Yeah, I met you by following the trail of crumbs. :monster:

Ryu, I recall baiting you with a link to our LTD. (Turns out you're a sucker for those!) We were like hey, why is that guy not over here yet? I for one was excited that someone else knew the names to all my favorite fallacies. :P Jem (this was 8000 names ago when you were still Jem fyi), back then you were the mistress of facade: a faux-squeamish, ice-blooded, lesbian airhead. Unfortunately you dropped the schtick before I could uncover the meaning behind it all... but I had fun getting nowhere.

Vilaeth, our fearless leader: before you started neutraling up the joint, you were a sort of traveling gypsy linguist... you were always and yet somehow never around. ;) We'd put the bat-signal out and you'd show up a few pages later to facepalm comment on our questions. Props for staying impartial.

I found Tennyo goofing off in my usernotes one day. (There's a shocker.) Back then she was a rabid fence-sitter. Not sure what pushed yet another diehard neutral over into our yard, but thar she be.

Demoness: well of course! I don't start pointless arguments with my friends for my health, you know!

I usually restrict my cracked-out shipping to my friends in this club. :P Shipping is ok man. If I were to really ship anyone, it would be Lupin/Fujiko. They're in love despite both being shallow and raging sluts.

In my experience, the people who get emotionally invested in pairings (i.e. e-living through their favorite characters) tend to be the ones who give "shipper" the bad connotation. And sometimes people just fall victim to their expectations, and are stubborn to a sin about admitting they're wrong. Example: if you've played the Zelda games, have you ever noticed that Link never interacts romantically with Zelda? They're not even the same people game to game, but varying decendants of long, parallel-running ancestral lines. Yet people associate them romantically because of their stereotypical knight/princess relationship, the fact that they're connected by destiny, and because they're placed together in marketing contexts. In Twilight Princess, if Link is said to be "paired" with anyone, I'd place his childhood friend first (that's my Cloti link :) ), then the Twilight Princess and Zelda as a distant third.

Is that how this all started? lol

I think it was hanging out with you peeps that changed my mind, lol. I used to think that Cloud and Aerith were a tragic love but that he would find solace in his best friend Tifa afterward, but I found that I didn't really like ANY of the people that posted in Devotion, with the exception of Zelda. So I posted in Faith instead.

I also thought that I could get both sides to live in harmony with each other. That was a stupid thought on my account. :duhard:

Well, I was promised epic lulz with AA as well. And yes, I am a sucker for a good debate. It's like walking into an obvious trap. It's so obvious, you HAVE to spring it.

Though it does improve circulation.

I usually restrict my most cracked-out shipping to my friends in real life. It doesn't help that everyone else, and even the girlfriends of these people are shipping them with other people (and one of them has even drawn gay porn of her boyfriend and another of our friends... I know wierd people)

Shipping is ok man. If I were to really ship anyone, it would be Lupin/Fujiko. They're in love despite both being shallow and raging sluts.

I don't know if 'shallow' is the right word. I don't know if it properly captures the lack of depth. They might actually be above sea level, and negate the depth of others. They're still awesome, though.

Oh, side note, have you ever seen the 15 minute pilot for the original Lupin TV show?

In my experience, the people who get emotionally invested in pairings (i.e. e-living through their favorite characters) tend to be the ones who give "shipper" the bad connotation. Actually, I do think they're hinting at a Link/ Zelda thing every so often, but ONLY in Windwaker and Four Swords Adventure, POSSIBLY in Minish as well, but that's the most it ever gets outside of the end of Link's Adventure. Elsewise, yes, Nada.

There may be a kernel of truth there. You should ask her about that sometime. :monster:

Shipping: Hmmm... most of my RL friends are married or trying to get there. It's hard to ship people who are starting to look like each other.

Shallow: LOL yeah. He's a gentleman womanizer, she's his favorite double-crossing fuck buddy.Shallow doesn't do justice to the ultimate open relationship, but theirs is too complicated to describe.

I've never seen the pilot, but I thought it was a feature-length film?

LOL. Those were more along the lines of "You rock for saving the kingdom! We'll take that omnipotent TriForce off your hands now, but as a consolation prize, here's a kiss on the cheek." Except Zelda II which involves full-frontal nudity (why else would they need a curtain?)

Actually, Z's creators have stated that since Link has only recently been depicted as an adult, his romantic inclinations haven't been explored, though they might in the future. They're obviously stalling for time to figure out how to avoid massive inbreeding between their ancestral lines.
