FF7 Relationships

In addition to what Ava said, I find it really sad that Aerith refused to have the wagon repaired by anyone else. Even after 5 years have passed, the wagon was never fixed. I just thought of this: Aerith continuing to sell flowers might symbolize her life- moving on despite Zack's absence and relying on herself. However, like the wagon never being repaired, the pain had remained in her heart and her wish to spend more time with him never fulfilled.

Well, ironically they now have all the time to be together... because they're now in the Lifestream :'(

Anyway I don't believe that MOTP is canon, or even if it is, I don't think that the scenario should have been like that. I mean, Zack desperately tried to go back to her and dies in the process, but he is probably content knowing that Aerith is safe in Tseng's and Kunsel's hands. But then he sees her in the Lifestream. I think he should be a little more sad.

Hi is this thread still alive? Because i find it so much better than the LTD

Of course it is alive :monster:

To be fair, this and the LTD are way different. Here you can talk about any relationship, romance or not while the LTD is restricted to canon to a huge degree. I'm also curious on what relationships you liked so if you have time please tell us :D

With regards to my last post... has anyone ever wondered why Squeenix didn't expand Cloud and Zack's relationship in CC? I've read in FF Wiki that it's because of 'UMD limitations' but the staff also decided to focus on Zack's life in SOLDIER. Did anybody else think that they should have done otherwise and gave more emphasis to the friendship of the two?

I think it was in this forum that I read that a larger part of the game was suppose to be devoted to Zack and Cloud on the run from Shinra after their breakout, but space constraints had them focus somewhere else.

Which is a damn shame because I thought their choice to focus on the Genesis story was an embarrassingly lame effort. I'm not going to trash on CC too much because it's one of my favorite parts of the compilation and I genuinely enjoyed the game, but I can't fucking stand Genesis or the parts where they expanded the Jenova-science project. Terrible explanations, shoddy retcons, annoying characters, blarg. CC shone best when it was about Zack's relationship with other characters, Sephiroth, Cloud, Aerith, the turks, hell I would actually throw Angeal in there was well.

CC didn't need an epic story line about saving the world, it needed more Zack just growing up. They could have reshuffled the story away from project G and whatever the goddess deal was, to some other Shinra conspiracy (as there were tons of shady business) and his conflict from that, then used the space for the odd couple of runaway! Zack and Coma!Cloud. I felt all of this was way more compelling than anything other in the game. >__>

Agree with Splintered.

I wished that there was less Genesis in CC and the storyline is more about SOLDIER vs AVALANCHE and Zack and Cloud on the run. They could have fleshed out more the Clack relationship(and Zerith too.)

Cloud's admiration for Zack can border on jealously, and it would be interesting if Zack would notice it and give him more advice. It will also be awesome if we can see Zack training Cloud like a mentor.

Another route that CC could have gone is to make a very happy storyline where Zack indulges in fame, has lots of friends and has lots of love from Aerith. But we could make him really blind and naive to what Shinra is doing and has total loyalty. Then the Nibelheim incident happens. It would be heart wrenching if after the happy story we see him struggling to survive with Cloud. After that, we should see more of his one-sided conversations with Cloud where he is trying to stay sane. Then we go to the scene where he gets his last letter (CC did this well) where he realized that he has lost everything up to the tragic ending.

Totally agree with both of you. I get the impression that Squeenix was trying to market Genesis as another one of those badass villains in hopes that fans would want to see him in another part of the Compilation (they didn't kill him off at the end, right?) considering that he was modeled after a very famous Jap singer and was one of the major antagonists of the storyline. Sadly for them Genesis just turned out to be an annoying faggot. His dreadful appearances made me curse the staff for not providing an option to skip the cutscenes :@

And aside from expanding the Clack relationship, I agree that they should've explored the romance of Zack and Aerith as well. It honestly appears to me that Aerith was shoved to the side and was only included briefly just to make a point that she met Zack before the events of FFVII.. I don't hate CC, I just see so much potential from the storyline that they failed to explore.

For some necroing I think this thread is cool as well.I also think some made some good points about relationships.

I want to observe the Hojo-Sephiroth relationship.

Yes,they are father and son but whenever I see Sephiroth speak of Hojo its always of a low opinion of the man and with some venom as well.On the other hand Hojo has an unhealthy obsession with his son to the point he is willing to help him destroy the world.I think some mistake that obession with paternal love but I think its all that shallow want for his son to be perfect and never actually trying to develop any sorta of relationship with him.He sees his son as some sorta of experiment to be perfected and monitored. In essence I don't think he truly sees him as a son but as a creation he is really prideful over.
