I'm sure they didDo you think Japanese video game writers in 1997 knew about the stereotype of the 'angry black man'? I never heard of it until I started frequenting internet boards where lots of Americans posted.

I think they would need to considerably lower their graphical aspirations for that, while maintaing reasonable sized areas and turn-based.. at least if they want a 5 year development project. If they did a carbon copy of the OG with no additions, just modern graphics, I'm sure they could've done this with one game. I'm glad they didn't go that route though
I watched that show too and I never picked up on 'the angry black man' stereotype. I think it's a uniquely American thing, though it seems to have spread to the UK recently.
Anyway, have you guys seen this?
I actually hate the combat system after playing the demo... The ATB gauge feels like a restrictions to normal action style combat to me...
It like instead of the normal ?∆ ??∆ ???∆ ????∆ combo feel that has more powerful 'O' or X special movie you can use every now and then.
Instead you have to wait to use a normal combo finish with cloud... His stace change is just lame to me. So unreliable because you get hit with long rang attacks all the time. So if you play with shortcuts and play fast pace like me then its almost of no use because doging takes you right out of it. And I constantly doge.
At for the demo the fight felt broken to (a unpopular opinion I know)
As others have stated, Punisher mode is absolutely useful against the Shock Troopers who mostly use melee (and tend to dodge your normal strikes). Same with the Guard hounds. It's also beneficial to switch into when your target is staggered as you do a lot more damage.
