FFVII Remake: Intergrade Yuffie DLC Announced

Yeah, that's why I specified it was after the second bombing mission.
Then it was my bad on my reading comprehension, I thought you were staying the opposite when you were saying "same night for them".

Anyways it is funny to realize that this first Remake installment only occurs over the course of like 6 days (or 5 nights, since Chapter 1 starts during the evening of December 9), when you think about it everyone, Cloud especially, must be running on fumes by the end, very little time for sleep occurs, even with longer nights occurring in December.

Opening bombing mission (night) -> return to sector 7 -> (sleep) -> wake up and run errands with Tifa, get kicked out of Avalanche, briefly join gang. -> Go on secret outing with Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie (night) -> (sleep) -> get woken up by ghosts -> go on second bombing mission, involving running and climbing for many hours -> Fight deadly robot (night) -> fall off reactor -> (sleep) -> Woken up by flower peddler, fight Yakuza and ghosts, do chores (evening) -> (sleep) -> attempt to sneak out of house in the middle of the night, but get caught -> go to red light town and get fabulous -> sewers -> ghosts but like different ghosts -> plate fall -> rescue wedge from secret underground lab -> (sleep) -> get woken up by Barret for hot date -> (sleep) -> get woken up by Tifa for depressing date (how is it still fucking night time??) -> (sleep) -> get ~dream~ woken up by Aerith for ethereal date, but she breaks up w/ you -> (sleep) -> wake up, do side quests for hours -> climb ruined buildings -> arrive at Shinra building (night) -> rescue Aerith -> have psychotic episode and pass out -> (sleep) -> do annoying dungeon -> fight alien -> fight pretty boy -> fight robot -> fight robot while riding motorcycle -> fight God of destiny -> fight Sephiroth -> leave Midgar (dawn)

Cloud actually sleeps more than I thought he did lol.

Why would we only see one of them, then?

Everything that's said in each of the scenes are ~*~canon~*~, as I say, but in terms of Cloud's night sleep, he only experiences the one you (the player) did.

Sure, I guess Cloud's is technically unconscious/asleep a good number of times, but I can't imagine many of those periods being particularly long periods of time for sleep, or are necessarily good restorative ones (like does the human body get restorative sleep when it goes unconscious due to fainting or being knocked out?).

I mean strictly speaking only one of these happens, no? Even if they're all "canon" :dramatic hands:
I feel that like unlike the dates in the OG, the Chapter 14 scenes could still all canonically occur without any contradictions, and even if it stretches the suspension of belief that Cloud would be woken up twice by Barret and Tifa, I would think at least only Barret and Aerith scenes or only Tifa and Aerith's scenes both occurring wouldn't push it that much.

no, this is ridiculous. He only sees one, that's the story you experience in your game, based on your choices and behavior. They should not have shown them all.

The fact that they don't contradict each other is why they can all be canon. But "your" Cloud did not wake up three freakin times in one night. Come on now. Anymore than he went on a date with Aerith in the Gold Saucer before going to his room and going out again with Tifa.

Ah c'mom, while sure any one single playthrough can only experience one cutscene, however, unlike how the dates in the OG end with Cait Sith being caught or how Cloud and the girls can only wear one of three different dress to the Corneo mansion, there's isn't anything physically (in-universe) preventing a player to reasonably interpret that Cloud narratively experienced all three chapter 14 cutscenes (or at least two), other than personal suspension of disbelief and/or pacing tastes, and as others stated Cloud would technically be actually woken up only twice since the Aerith scene is a dream.

That completely robs the thing of it being determined by your choices and actions. If that's the case, Kindofblue is right, they should have just sat and had a nighttime garden orgypicnic.
Your behavior as Cloud was to determine which character would be most comfortable/comforted in his presence/talking with him.

How does the existence of a checklist say anything about what "happened?" The FF7 ports have a trophy for getting a game over, does that mean the team definitely dies at one point?

And to the current conversation, it matters because if Cloud had three emotional conversations in one night, none of the sleep he got should even count, lol. In the broader picture, I explained why I think it's dumb.

Sure that's the gameplay/design intention, but if someone wanted to write-up an all-encompassing "canon" summary of the narrative events that happened in the game (a la M. J. Gallagher is doing with his OG novelization), it would be possible (albeit messy pacing wise) for a person to interpret all three (or at least two) scenes as having occurred, unlike other parts of the game with variable outcomes that can only have one version logically occur (e.g. the dress choices). That's what people are saying.

If you think that's dumb, by all means think that's dumb, but I hope you can understand why people might interpret the chapter 14 scenes as all having occurred as a valid possibility, unlike other variable elements of both the OG and Remake.

Yes but we're not discussing canon. We're discussing how much sleep Cloud got! :offended:

As for canonicity - it's like the things your party says during the various cutscenes in the OG. The specific dialogue in each scene differs depending upon who's in your party. Is everyone's dialogue canon? Yes. Did they all happen in any given playthrough? Of course not, otherwise at least half the party spent the whole game repeating each other.

Sure, but some stuff that is variable in both the OG and Remake are mutually exclusive to each others' existence (if someone wanted to do a "definitive" write-up Gallagher style) while other variable elements could feasible all occur.

Anyways, either way regardless of whether Cloud was woken up only once, three times, or not all during the sleep period at the start of Chapter 14, Cloud probably wasn't getting at least very good quality restorative sleep over those five nights in the Remake.

How many fan novilizations of this game exist? Ite wrote one, he who shall not be named wrote one... Jeez.
Dunno, I think M. J. Gallagher's is the most well-known and comprehensive one though, and has gotten actual fanwork books published with CrimsonSun's great artwork.
