So I reckon this could go one of a few ways:
  • Jessie’s still dead, and Kitase just doesn’t want to give away too much about the future
  • Jessie’s alive, and the consequence for her life being spared is either somebody else dies or she dies again but differently
  • Jessie survives, and every shipper gets their ship validated by having their own optional endings
  • Jessie survives, the devs say to hell with Tifa and Aerith, and Cloud ends up with her
Now, as far as which direction is more likely, well...I’ll let y’all decide that one

An ambiguous reply.

I swear to Christ if that fucker changed the scenario by just putting that shit into the ether... Goddamnit.

Jessie lives and we get to spend a bit more time with her only for her to be killed when Dyne shoots up the Gold Saucer the first time we go there, setting the stage for the second Gold Saucer trip where the princess role is now open to whoever Cloud brings on the date

As long as Aerith and Tifa end up with each other :moar::moar:

This is absolutely the only outcome that matters.

Jessie is alive in the alternate timeline where Zack and Biggs are also alive.
But Biggs is alive in the "regular" timeline. We haven't seen anything past Zack's survival of the other one yet.

Everybody and their mother predicted that we'll see Jessie on stage in the Gold Saucer one way or another. Nothing unexpected here. :monster:
That's true enough. We were confident we would be seeing her again; it's just a question of whether she's alive or whether we only see her in promotional footage at the Saucer.

I dunno, as I said I felt that Jessie was dead while reading because Jessie's a favourite of the host... he isn't going to be the one breaking out to her that Jessie's dead, hence the nervous laugh.

On the other hand it could totally mean that she's still alive but, well. I feel we'll see Jessie again, but probably more in the shape of a 3D rendering of the play at Gold Saucer, maybe in the form of an hommage like "the best actor/actress of GS, see them on TV now!" Maybe instead of replaying the theater play, we're going to the cinema or some shit instead. There are many ways to bring back Jessie at the GS without having her alive, I think.

I just am annoyed it's ambiguous. Why is it ambiguous? Just friggin' say it, you mofo.

The fact they're treating it as ambiguous means they wanted to seed ambiguity with her passing... In a location crushed and exploded. They didn't treat Wedge's shove through a 60 story window as an ambiguity in the Ultimania.

So now they won't say what's up with Jessie, which now implies there is something up with her. Why?

They either want people to think she's alive and then lose it when finding out she's just a display/recording at the Gold Saucer, or she's gonna be a surprise survivor. But that really runs up on the boundaries of plausibility to me. Why tease that? Ffs.

It's going to be a long fucking wait.

I'll be SHOCKED if they still have Dyne doing a mass shooting in an amusement park then committing suicide after trying to kill his own Daughter.

I expect the trail of purple goo to be the standard with how they're going to approach recreating scenes from the original moving forward.

If she didn't die, I don't see it happening in the normal timeline though... she died in front of Cloud and Tifa's eyes. Because the game heavily focuses on her death, it does cheapen it to have her as a surprise survivor. But oh well, we'll see.

Dyne mostly killed Shinra troopers and some GS staff. They aren't going to cut that, otherwise they'd have cut Shinra mass killing people defending themselves in Sector 7.

And why would they use purple alien blood for that? They'd just do what they did at the pillar and just show no blood at all.

The people shot in Sector 7 were at least insurgents wielding guns and died in an actual firefight. That's a tad different of a context in 2021 from a mass shooter loose in an amusement park.

And why would they use purple alien blood for that? They'd just do what they did at the pillar and just show no blood at all.
GuardBreak means if they went with purple protoplasm instead of blood for that one scene, then they almost certainly aren't going to push the boundaries of what's socially palatable right now to that extent.

Wasn't it conformed the Yuffie DLC would have blood because of the Japanese rating?
Right, but the point here isn't that blood is a no-no. It's that SE is really taking what their ethics department says into consideration about how things are going to be received by different markets.

They'll be armed Shinra Guards shot and killed by Dyne. I don't think that's going to be unbelievable or unworkable given the context of the story.

How they handle blood in Episode Yuffie will be illustrative of what they feel is okay for blood, going forward.
