Even if you take the civilians out of it, you have a White shooter murdering cops standing guard at an amusement park, then a Black man taking the fall for it. LOL

It's not happening, bro.

I’d protest, but then again, the blameless Avalanche of FF7R is because of 9/11. They had two options: double down on the morally dubious desperation of anti capitalist terrorism, or walk back Avalanche’s culpability so that they can still be framed as likeable. SE went with the latter option.

As Dyne is the boss monster of that arc, and the shooting happens off screen, I wonder... FF7R seemed to want to challenge the audience in some ways, but they were really high concept themes and not very violent. 7R‘s combat is more visceral, but the story is significantly less violent overall.

If Sephiroth couldn’t leave a trail of blood, like, if they were more prepared to throw out that part of the story than take a higher rating, I really don’t see Dyne getting his massacre. Not sure why the Yuffie DLC is gonna be more bloody than Sephiroth, but who knows.

Jenova is an alien.

It didn't need a red blood trail, because it presumably wasn't a carbon based life form. It not having red blood is no real big loss.

I think you're going to walk into a room full of dead shinra grunts without any blood, just like the original game. They might remove the one staff-member who's been injured that tips you off about it being a man with a gun arm who did it.

They still heavily altered it, again based on the guidance of their ethics department looking at current social expectations and foreign markets.

I'm not saying Dyne is going to suddenly be a good guy who doesn't fire anything but flower seeds.

I think you guys are over-thinking this

No more than SE has, I guarantee it.

The blood trail was 'cause of all the murder.

The goop that Jenova left behind presumably isn't even blood but just...alien goop. Because why would it be bleeding?
In the OG I assumed the blood came from the people that were killed in her path. There is a dead guy right in front of the pod so of course the trail would start right there.
God I hate how tame they made that scene in the Remake. :wacky:

The blood trail was 'cause of all the murder.

There was only one dead guy after Jenova broke out in the OG. I always thought that was its slime trail, since it literally begins from outside the busted specimen container. No one was killed from inside the chamber.

Where were the other corpses? Did Jenova eat them?

Do we know for a fact that Biggs is alive in the same timeline that Cloud, Tifa et al are currently inhabiting? Just wondering.

There was never an answer to this, I think, so some people think he's alive in their timeline, others in the new timeline. We still have no clue because in the end, we have no freaking clue about what's really happening, hahaha. *discussing theories in the wind*

Yes, but there's only one person who's actually in the trail of blood left behind by Jenova.

The other dead bodies are lying outside of the "trail," so if the blood was from all the people it killed, why would they be outside of said blood? That doesn't make forensic sense. They're scattered all over the place, along paths that Jenova didn't even take.

That's why I thought that the trail was simply Jenova's slime and bodily fluids.

Okay fair enough, I checked and see that to be the case, however that still is inconsistent as hell, because there are a bunch of corpses that are just dead on the side with no blood around them, not even in the path.

So did Jenova insanguinate them? Why would 3 people's bodies laying where they presumably died, create a blood trail several floors long? Was Jenova just dripping blood and viscera while their corpses somehow neglected to leave a puddle of its own? It just doesn't make sense. The only consistency is the red smearing from Jenova's own storage container that starts from within it, and goes along the path it took to reach President Shinra.

LoL very funny, but if they put that much effort to put a huge trail of blood like that so we could see the grossness and horror of Jenova's breakout, if it was presumed to be the path of its carnage or whatever, why would they not just put the NPC bodies completely along the trail of said blood? They were right there.

I just took it to be Jenova's juices.

Hamaguchi himself admitted that they've changed it from blood into purple goo duo to rating concerns. I don't know how you can interpret what's on the screen as something else .

Same reason towns have only 4 or 5 houses in the original.

The question wasn't if it was blood or not, it was whose blood it belonged to. Which is why I said it was Jenova's, since it came straight out of its enclosure from the start. Jenova didn't massacre a human being it kept inside there as a snack.

Them changing the color for a rating change makes sense given, Jenova is an alien.

I thought the blood being a trail was to purposely lead Cloud and co. But it's Jenova so it could all just be an illusion anyway. In the OG I always assumed it was the guards' blood. And when you know what Jenova is, why would Jenova have left anything of itself behind except deliberately? Jenova can take any form and do anything.

Then the guard would have had to have been slaughtered inside Jenova's specimen enclosure because that's where the blood trail first starts. Not at the corpse, which lies outside of it.

ForceStealer

Double Growth
I admit I thought it was mostly from Jenova, growing up. The guard that was apparently brutally killed outside their cells "no human could have done this" didn't have any blood around him. Then the trail abruptly stops at the 69th floor which I figured was when she morphed into Sephiroth.

If it helps, the Ultimania Omega had this to say about the blood:

いつの間にか開いて いた独房の前からは、ジェノバの残虐な行為を物語る血痕が、最上階までつづいている。

"From in front of the cell, which had been opened without anyone noticing, a bloodtrail telling of Jenova's atrocities leads to the top floor."
