The thing is though, is that Sector 6's slums are covered in debris and broken buildings that clearly look like they've fallen from above.

It looks very much like Sector 6 got destroyed by something and the buildings and what-not have just been assimilated by the slums.

The less influence before crisis has, the better. Still, what would cause sector 6 to have to be rebuilt?
Isn't this like the 3rd time BC has been sort of mentioned already? I dont know the ins and outs, but from what we've seen in FFVIIR, it doesnt look that bad. Hell, it's certainly interesting. Guess BC really had some execution problems.

There are so many dumb little contrivances in that game that really devalue the original game, and the lack of availability means introducing concepts from it without giving proper context would only alienate casual fans. Square realized that enough to release "the kids are alright" in English last year so the references to that would make sense, so I'm hoping they realize basically nobody outside of Japan has ever played their cell phone game from 2003.

And even finding a way to shoehorn Vincent in it, lol. And I don't like Red knowing about Deneh as it makes him look insane in the original for not even mentioning her, much less looking for her.

I remember thinking the original Avalanche bombing the Corel reactor had a bit of dramatic irony to it. But that's hardly worth the rest of it.

Really my problems with it are pretty well summed up with the idea that Avalanche tried to take over Junon to shoot Midgar with the cannon, even though there is no way that cannon could come even close to hitting Midgar. Midgar is almost behind it!

That one bugged me too.

(inb4 someone explains how the cannon slingshots a projectile around the globe to hit Midgar or some shit like that :shifty: )

It's based on the same cannon. Almost nothing about it's operation on Midgar is the same.

To be clear, hitting the north crater without a severe arc strains credibility too, but going a quarter of the globe and in the right direction is still a different matter than shooting something behind you. That's Bugs Bunny hitting a baseball shit.

You would have to aim literally up into space, the way ICBMs work, which go up and basically just fall back down on their target. That would also be an extremely freakin inefficient way to damage a city that's basically right next to you.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was simply a way for the cannon to rise and then rotate so that it can precisely aim at different targets behind it. We've never seen the full capabilities of the Mako Cannon in Junon. The whole plot was clearly a matter of the graphics and depiction not matching the story.

If you were to aim juuuust a little to the right, and up at a sloping angle, you could get it to do a lap around the globe and hit Midgar. Although I doubt that AVALANCHE would have access to the army of smart people needed to make that happen.
