Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Outside of "Guide Dang-it" strategy guides, I don't think it does.

Hi ho Hi ho, it's off to GameFAQs I go!

Of all my various quibbles with XII, this kinda thing is by far my most significant. It's terrible design that is at best lazy, and at worst exploitative.

Well you can look at various strategy guides and license boards and figure out which direction your characters will go in. In IZJS it's just more streamlined, so each job class has a license board specific to that job, with the number of licenses you can obtain cut down by... I want to say more than half?? Idk ask Fangu.

Not sure if that contributes anything. :monster:

Yes that is true!

Come to think of it, there's quite a bit of shit in Final Fantasy XII (and many of the other games) that makes me wonder who the fuck in their drug-induced haze thought that any simple-minded player would be able to figure this shit out IF there wasn't a strategy guide in front of their face as they played it. :monster:

when you're knee-deep in making the game yourselves, maybe you become blind to the more obtuse things and just don't realise what isn't clear enough without the knowledge you have being the developer of the game

or they do know and they wanted to do it that way because idk get people sharing tips and hints with each other

or plain old cruelty

I've never played IZJS, but when you defeat Belias and go onto the License Board for the first time after, the game tells you that only one person can purchase an Esper license and that it disappears from everyone else's boards after.

Furthermore, in the IZJS version this is fairly obvious because there are "island licenses"-- sets of licenses not connected to any part of the main board. The Esper licenses form the bridges to them. Besides, by the time you beat Belias you have all the party members so it's not like you don't have all the information to make the best decision for who to give the the Esper license to.

It's also worth noting that in the IZJS version you can see the contents of all licenses on the boards at any time, unlike in the original version where you could only see those adjacent to already purchased licenses. So you know what you're getting.

I guess the only thing that isn't obvious is if there are multiple Esper licenses that lead to the same island licenses. And that there are (although not many): for example Breaker has a set of four Magick Lores and Exodus OR Zeromus can bridge the gap to them. If a person wanted these they would likely just buy the first one they got without knowing there was another Esper they got later that could have opened the path to them.

At least in FFVIII you could cast spells and feed your GFs items to increase your affinity. Guess I'll just have to think about which belongs to who for a while before I do it again.

That looks lovely :megusta:

I think I'm in the same boat as you, Pixel. I want this more than XV.

It certainly looks interesting. Most of my experience with Final Fantasy lies in VII/VIII, though I've dabbled with 1 and XIII. I want to actually expand on my FF experience focus by exploring titles I'm unfamiliar with, though. I'll definitely give this a try when it comes out.

It looks nice and all but I´m sticking with the game with superior tech that´s coming on November.:joy:

My advice: Save a Dollar a Day.

At the end of the year you'll have 366 bucks to spend on whatever you want.

If you're in a hurry, save Two Dollars a Day.

Does anyone know if it will it be possible to play the standard non-IZJS game in this remaster? I'm excited to play IZJS but it'd be great to have both options.

Fangu

It's just IZJS. At least that's all they've been showing so far.

I wish the original was in it as well.

I would make a joke about how a dollar a day is 50p a day to us but with brexit this is no longer true and I made myself sad

I once did a 300+ chain just to see if I would get a new person in the Sky Pirate's Den.

Nothing happened.
