Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

I believe you only have to complete the maps that are still accessible to you after the Pharos, excluding the Bahamut.

I read that you don't have to visit every location in the Great Crystal because there's no map there. That could be wrong, though, and if it is, it might explain why I haven't unlocked the Sky Pirate's Den achievement yet. Though I have beaten Ultima and Omega. :closedmonster:

I'm wondering if that means collecting all the 'candles' that show that hidden parts of the maps as well. Not that I have a problem with going after them of course. :awesome:

I saw the trophy article earlier but didn't have a chance to get on until now; it looks awesome, and I can't wait for TZA to come out so I can give it my all.

Although Yiazmat should warrant a Platinum trophy because reasons. :monster:

Oh, and
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to playing it. I just wish the vanilla option was there for nostalgia purposes. It feels a bit like adding a job system to VII. I can see where that would add value to the game, but that's not the version I fell in love with.
I love you for this comment.

I personally like more vanilla XII than IZJS XII, the later feels very restrictive (even if the former can feel samey torwards the endgame stuff) and the added extra content is not worth noting (outside of the trials).

All this XII talk and all the XII speed runs I've been watching lately (thanks to Fangu) have made me want to play it again. But I'm already playing enough games and either X or Tactics will be on my plate soon, so I don't know when I'll have time.

I love Yoshida's compositions. Notice how light and fluent and freely moving the characters on the left side are, while the right side is heavy, straight, grounded, gloomy. But it's not all light vs dark - notice the tone of Basch's face. Also, one might find Penelo's placement odd, but I'd say it's because of Larsa's placement - speaking of Larsa, his character is probably the one to look the most like himself out of all of them.

I like how he made Vaan a bit smaller than Ashe and Balthier, as to say - don't immediately picture Vaan as the main character, although the first part of the story almost entirely revolves around him and Penelo. Their main function is to act as set-up for the story and universe. Yes, they are in the center of the poster, but that doesn't mean they're more central than anyone else.

I love how Fran's hair sort of transforms into clouds. Love love love. She is the most sky pirate after all.

that looks nice, although all the women seem to have some kind of spinal abnormality where they're forced to jut out their tits and ass for reasons :monster:

I wasn't criticizing it, to be clear, just poking fun.
Oh, I wasn't referring to your post at all, just so that's clear :monster: I just went straight into a rant about how he's really good at composition.

Edit: If the post I'm quoting wasn't referring to mine then nevermind :wacky:

Saw this announcement when I was sitting in class--so completely stoked for this. Still waiting to see if there's a collector's edition for I put in a preorder.

Also, since I cba to look up and article right now, any word on if TZA will have both license grid systems?

I was thinking the same when I first saw that new art with Ashe featured more prominently than Vaan. Just further proof that Vaan is merely a figurehead. I still like him as a character though.

I also love that imagery up top with Basch and Gabranth. Gives me chills.

I can't imagine the Zodiac Job System with the regular licence board, since different licence board is pretty much the entire Job System. Sooo what you're basically asking is whether or not Vanilla XII will be a part of the remaster, but I think it's becoming pretty clear now that it's just going to be IZJS :monster: (Based on gameplay footage and stuff. Iirc one shows the player controlling Larsa, which you can only do in IZJS.)

I still want to hold out out hope. Obviously with Zodiac Age title and all of the footage that's been shown they're trying to hype up this new version of the game, but I don't think it's too much to ask to throw the original grid system in and have guest characters be controllable in that one too.

I mean, I'll still buy it and stuff. I just don't know if I'll be a fan of the restrictions TZA will place on the characters.

^ Ohey I'm planning my Jobs already :monster:

Anyway for those interested, this guide provides a pretty good intro to the jobs, at least it covers the basics. It's incomplete, but it suggests which characters best fit which jobs, plus suggests a few teams.

I went sans White Mage last time, I think I'll do this for Age of Zodiac as well. My IZJS playthrough was Knight (Ashe), Archer (Basch), Machinist (Fran), Red Mage (Vaan), Black Mage (Penelo), Hunter (Balthier). Parts of my choices was to see if I could copy the crit Reflect strats from vanlilla, which did take me all the way to Bahamut, but I've struggled finishing the game with the same strats (at level late 30ish iirc) and so I need to grind to do end game.

rant rant rant

I could plan the jobs, or just get through the game with jobs they are shit at. Or, subvert the jobs or something. Basch as White Mage and Penelo as Knight or whatnot. Hm.

You sexy nerd. :geek:
(I love seeing people get really into games like that. :salute:)

I've never played the version of the game with the jobs system, it's another reason I'm excited for this game.

Out of all the FF's I've replayed this one the least and with the new job system (from my point of view it's new) this is going to feel like playing the game for the first time again. I'm really looking forward to it. :)
