Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age

Really? I didn't know that. I don't suppose FFXII goes against type here and makes any attempt at explaining that/giving you some means of planning?
I forgot to mention that you can see every license at any time.

Also, the Zodiac Spear isn't linked to that ridiculous chest bullshit this time...

I just wish you could actually LOOK like you've equipped armor.

Vaan in an Adamantite Vest isn't very convincing against Gilgamesh.

Feeling like armour should be displayed was a feeling I had during XII. I never had that feeling with any other game, although I guess it's a different style of RPG to what I usually play (I may have played White Knight Chronicles before I played XII).

And when I saw the XII International artwork I felt a little disappointed that International didn't actually have different outfits for the jobs.

But not having models for armour is one thing, International's problem is not having models for some weapons! I can't think that was their intention instead of a lack of non-programmers involved in IZJS, so I wonder if Trango Tower and Seitengrat will remain invisible in the remaster.

I've read that those weapons were test weapons used during the development process, and that they were released in IZJS purely as a curiosity for the fans.

Yeah I'm sure they were just supposed to be Easter-egg type things. Aren't they super difficult to get?

Speaking of Seitengrat... Roostalol, leader of FFXII ENG and FFXII JP Any% (amongst other things) decided that leading the two hottest categories wasn't enough, so he went for IZJS as well. And he does it by, along with other strats, manipulating the game's RNG by listening to the disc loading on the PS2.

Check out from 1:04:30 and onward when he places his mic on the PS2 and then later explains what we're listening for. (He gets the RNG load at 1:37:45.)

I'm not sure who came up with this first, they keep referring to ema non in the chat but I haven't checked if they're talking about him in this context.

These speedrunners.

Edit: Also, hahaha, HAHAHAHA, now I know why his "notes" for this run is listed as the following on the leaderboard site:

1. Kill Mimic Queen.
2. Get 2 Seitengrats.
3. ???
4. Split on "The End."
Watching this run is so funny

I was meant to post this ages ago, but it looked really good when I went to EGX. :awesome:

They've put on the speed thing like they did with the FFVII PS4 port and it confused the hell out of me first until an SE staff member explained it to me. xD

^ Yeah it's standard functionality in IZJS. And since Zodiac Age basically is IZJS it's in Zodiac Age as well.

Actually, the more I think about it, the less happy I am about how they decided to launch the 'XII remaster' as basically just launching IZJS for PS4. It's kind of like - instead of trying to make more people understand how brilliant XII's battle system and its rich setup really is, they instead listened to the bunch of whiners who played the game for 10 hours with 'Attack' on the bottom of everyone's Gambit list (now they actually have to give the characters roles, omg), bitched about Vaan's abs and then stopped playing the game completely.

>_>

I mean IZJS has it's own nifty things that makes it a very different game to play, but I wish they didn't just dump on the original, because it had its own things.

Yeah, that´s a bummer. IMO Vanilla XII is better than IZJS.

You're welcome :monster:

Nah I can understand why it wasn't to a lot of people's taste. Just wish your voices were ignored :wackymonster:

i just wish they would include an option like ffx international's two sphere grids so you can have the choice to deck everyone out with every license

don't be lazy you bastards

I too wish they'd include some sort of enhanced option for the original system. They're doing what they did with X/X-2 HD Remaster and bringing region exclusive features out of Japan, which is nice. To me it was less noticeable with that because all the international X stuff released in the original UK version.

But this feels fundamentally different? X/X-2 International had a bunch of additional bosses and slightly different tweaks like the sphere grids, but the differences between vanilla and IZJS XII fundamentally changes how the game plays. One of the things I like XII for is the ability to jiggery hackery your way into areas early such as farming three deathbringers from mimics much earlier than you should and mowing down everything in your path for pretty much the rest of the game. It takes some cheesing but it's (to me) a fairly fun thing to do because of how difficult it can be. In this sense IZJS is quite restrictive.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to playing it. I just wish the vanilla option was there for nostalgia purposes. It feels a bit like adding a job system to VII. I can see where that would add value to the game, but that's not the version I fell in love with.

Regarding "praying to RNGesus", I used to do that "disc listening" trick myself for some things.

Even today, there's some games where if you have a randomized setting, having to reload it , if it takes slightly longer to load it's almost certain you got at least a different object loaded.

^ They seem to match the Pirates Den, which I approve. I love those icons, particularly "The Mist Seethes" xD

I've never been able to complete all the maps, even though I've been everywhere and done everything (except the really tedious stuff like getting a Danjuro) in my most recent playthrough. There must be a tiny patch I haven't revealed yet and I really wish there was some way of figuring out where it is.
