Most notably, it is now possible to have a character set with two job classes simultaneously, instead of just one in the International version. Once a character unlocks "L Board Plus" on the License Board, they can then select a second job to complement their abilities.

Well at least it's something that makes TZA a lot different from IZJS. Not sure if it's setting up for major OP though. I mean along with the uncapped damage and all. Kids will never know the struggle...

Well, at first I was iffy about being locked into one job throughout the gameplay and not being able to change it... but this makes me feel a whole lot better about it though. What a nice thing for Square to do, since they don't want to put the original license board system in this game.

Tbh, I like having Penelo as both a Black and White Mage. OP as hell.

Definitely excited to hear that you can pick two jobs now. I was thinking about it the other day and didn't want to force two characters to be strictly healers or something just to survive. :wacky: Nice to see I can now have a wider variety ^_^

i am looking forward to this and am glad they've made some new changes since i already played the original and izjs so it's nice to have something different

Vanilla FFXII allowed you to have all classes :desumonster:. This remaster and IZJS are inferior!!
Haha, yeah I was about to say.

>> FFXII was lame because everyone could do anything
>> IZJS is BETTER because you get jobs!!!11
>> I wish IZJS let you have the entire licence board for everyone (?????)
>> OMG! TZA allows you to have several jobs!!! YASS!!

So you want restrictions, yet you do not want restrictions.
No wait --
You want restrictions, but just some restrictions.

Well, yeah. Like a proper job system where you can change jobs and multiclass to your heart's content. But not every character starting on the same spot of an identical board with only differentiation being that which you force on them. I had always assumed the IZJS worked like every other game in the series with a job system. Learning that it married your character to a class seemed like yet another puzzling design decision that are all over FFXII. Giving you a subclass mitigates that considerably. Though I still don't know why it can't just work like V or Tactics. At least the subclassing allows you access to all 12 jobs (like, they made 12 jobs but there are only 6 characters who couldn't change requiring you to play at least twice to see all the jobs? The XII team routinely baffles me.)

I don't consider either version of the game to be inferior to the other. The mistake Square made with the OG was thinking that players would customize their character into specific jobs, when in reality, almost no one did that.

I've never played IZJS. While I'm a big fan of XII, it was never high on my priority list. When I found out this remaster would just be the jop system, I felt iffy; I'm so used to this freedom to choose and customize, although my characters did have specific roles in combat. The second job class makes me feel a whole lot better (although I would've gotten over the iffy feeling rather quickly).

To each his own, I guess. Even if you had specific jobs for each in the OG, you'd end up with so many license points by the end of it there'd be no reason why you couldn't fill out the entire board for every character anyway.

But I am excited for not having to navigate to the far corners of the boards just to everyone's quickenings. I used to map out where I'd get all of them beforehand, after my first few playthroughs. Like Penelo for instance: she's my mage, so I just got her last two quickenings in the rods, staves, and poles section.

Enough of my rambling. TL;DR, I'm happy with what we're getting. I don't feel that any version is inferior to the other.

There's going to be a livestream for TZA in Japan on the 26th at 8pm JST.

"The program consists of a coverage on the game’s original production a decade ago. Producer Hiroaki Kato will be present alongside Kohei Takada and Masaki Ozawa, Vaan and Penelo’s respective voice actors. The livestream will be an opportunity to relive the hype for the remaster."

New TZA trailer Square just uploaded not even... 30 minutes ago.

I love love love this trailer. The editing with the voiceovers is simply superb.

Please TLS folks, if you're reading this and you haven't played XII yet... give it a chance. Or if you've tried to play it before and weren't impressed... give it a second chance.

EDIT:

Also, the official Japanese site is open. :monster:

That trailer does a really good job of selling the story of the game, I think. Just one quibble... this exchange is probably my favourite in the game and they only used half of it. :rage:
Vossler: Listen to me, Basch. Your cage may have no bars, but it is a cage. The eyes of the Resistance watch unblinking.

Basch: Let them watch. I know something of cages.

Edit: the background music on that website can be easily downloaded in MP3 format, if that's something that interests you: 1 2 3.

Really? I found it to be a bunch of unrelated quotes playing over random scenes. Cid speaks like twice but isn't even shown.

The only thing I liked was the beginning. Plus it's nice hearing the remastered dialogue.

Yeah but trailers (for movies and stuff) are often like that. Enough to get you interested without giving the whole story away. It bugs the hell out of me when a trailer reveals too much.

Yeah but it doesn't really say anything about anything. It doesn't say anything about plot points, or style, or reveal anything at all about the characters. FFXII's story has a bad enough reputation as it is, it doesn't need a US action movie styled trailer to confuse people further.

I should probably bugger off this thread :monster:

The opening quote from Fran while showing Ashe is like so misleading. Definitely agree with Fangu. The quotes were good quotes, and the visuals were great too. That's all they were though, unrelated snippets just mashed together.

Still, the game looks purty. I am getting excited.

I think the quotes do a great job of representing the desires and internal struggles that many of the characters face over the course of the story. Fran's 'You could destroy all of Ivalice if you wished it' is a quote that really highlights Ashe's struggle between justice and revenge for the whole story.

And obviously Vaan wants to be a sky pirate. :monster:

Either way, I'm just glad that SE's building up the hype.
