4- The Snow-DLC was supposed to have a racing mini-game. You would take the Shiva Bike (as seen in FF13) for a spin through the Archylte Steppe. You would also fight monsters along the track. (WHY WAS THIS NOT DONE)

A la Crazy Motorcycle Chase? I could dig it :monster:

[Check4SPAM] RE: URL Attempt

Just had this thought. Noel and Caius kinda look alike, don't they. Caius is taller ofc (isn't he? Or is it just the heels?) As you get older your face turns more square/ less round, and your lips get thinner. Just look at them, they could be the same person. Same eyebrows, same nose, same ears. Caius looks like a Noel gone over to the dark side. (Caius is, ofc, much hotter. Ehrm.)

tumblr_m4av3kKzmf1r6wwni.jpg
caius.jpg

Now this couldn't be plausible plotwise, could it. But it leads to some psychological fun thoughts. Noel always wanted to protect Yeul.

Impulse thoughts. Fun, but in the end, kinda lame. If you look at pics like
caius-ballad-final-fantasy-xiii-2-11256-400x250.jpg
, his jaw looks much squarer than in the pic in this post.

Edit: Also, I haven't read anything from the Ultimanas, but someone at tumblr pointed out a few interesting things from an interview:

So Serah's really not dead??
Also, pout for not getting those minigames DLC's :/
Also, NoelxYuel is apparently canon.

I have a link containing lots of Ultimania info, I'll post it once I get 4 more posts.

I was just looking at that. I'm not sure how except for him to make a couple more posts. Or if he makes the post and it doesn't go through, I should be able to approve the post.

^ Thanks!

I spent like half an hour in Oerba 300 AF today looking for that goddamn White Chocobo. Lucky for the little critter I got his crystal on the second try.

I kept myself entertained by watching Lightning one-shot six Bloodfang Basses :monster:

Edit: Okay now I am all WHATTHEFUCK

The Tezcatlipoca is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It spawns on the north-eastern platform of Academia 500 AF and is the rare encounter on this spot. The platform can spawn Tezcatlipoca or Miquiztli and Xolotl, and once the player has killed a set of enemies on there, no more enemies will spawn until the player closes the Academia 500 AF gate and starts again from the beginning. This means the player can never get all the enemies in Academia 500 AF in just one run-through of the area. As Tezcatlipoca is the rarer encounter, the player can hop on the platform, and if they get the wrong set of enemies, they can backtrack and the monsters will vanish. The player can repeat the process until they get Tezcatlipoca to spawn.

I HAVE TO REPLAY FUCKING ACADEMIA 500 AF?!?? I HATE THAT GODDAMN LABYRINTH CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, the thing is a bit of a pain to kill IIRC. Just jump on and off the platform until it shows up, and retry if you get into a fight with the M & X by accident. Doing the labyrinth again is a huge pain in the ass.

Yeah I read somewhere about someone who thought they had to replay the entire labyrinth if they didn't get him. He'd done it five times but still hadn't encountered him. Poor dude :P

I managed to get lost, of course. But I feel like I'd do it a lot faster if I was to do the labyrinth again. Some of the monsters even dropped a couple of Scarletite, and I picket up a few crystals, so that was cool.

I took down Rasputil yesterday as well. He was kinda pain, but not too bad it was nice seeing the gil he dropped. This game lacks a "rolling in gil" Fragment Skill, btw. And a "Faster running away from monsters" FS. It annoys me every time I have to run like 50 meters to respawn monsters.

Ok so bought 10,000 coins, entered the machine 'on a Sunny day' and put a hair band on my PS3 controller. Going to work now. :P

I think the slot machine is kinda cool to play if you learn to time the different combos though. But I just want to be done with those damn fragments. I spent all yesterday night running after Captain Cryptic. Lord does the man know how to hide.

So, getting Paradox endings... most are funny- I love the Academia 4XX 'Snow is a big damn hero' one. I wanna see Light, Sazh, and Dahj on adventure together.

Caius's Solo fights are damn hard. I managed to do Serah's by Tanking the whole time as Sen and doing nothing but spamming potions and wound potions.

- I got all 160 fragments, did the sekrit ending
- Fought PuPu (or Neochu 2.0 as I like to call it)
- Got Arcus Chronica for Serah but it's really just crap. ATB weapons <3
- Did the Sazh DLC (I now have 600,000 casino coins)
- Fought Jihl Nabaat and got her crystal <3 Now I'm gonna level her into a SAB monster. I love me a good SAB! Right now she mostly does Fog and Pain which is highly useless in most battles, but she does know Poison and can learn Imperlinga and Poisoninga, plus some nice Passive Abilities. I'm gonna look into the different SAB monsters and infuse them to her. Hopefully there's a "Heavy Poisoninga", "Heavy Imperlinga", but mostly I want Poison II, Imperil II, Deprotect II and Deshell II. Basically I want to build her to ruin everything, heh.
- I realized I fed Snow to many "All" Crystals. Should have farmed Power Crystals instead - so I'm working on that now for the rest of his Crystarium. Also farming Mana Crystals for Sazh with Clock Master fighting Ispusteke. I'm gonna have to do the same for Jihl. Sigh.
- Haven't tried to get Omega's crystal, as I'd rather get COM!Light and use her instead.

So yeah. Level, get COM!Light. I have yet to infuse any monsters. Need to plan this out carefully.

Did anyone get Odinblade and/or Odinbow (is that what it's called?), and were happy with them? What kind of stats/ passive do they have?

Also what I haven't been into at all is the Chocobo races. I have a feeling I'm gonna have to if I want to get better accessories.

Also... this Christmas I'm gonna replay the entire game and do so much better. X)

You're going to start it from scratch? I don't know if I could be bothered with that, I think I'd rather just replay the sections from my perfect run, since nothing is technically missable.

Well I guess the reason was if I fed any of the monsters wrong, but I guess I can just release it and get a new one. But I would have to replay parts of the story to get the Monster Materials to feed it.

Or wait. The first 4 levels of Monster Materials can be bought.

You do have a point there, Sir.

Eh, well then, I'd do it for great justice :monster:

I commend your patience my dear. I genuinely don't think I could do it. I could play through the story from start to finish, but I don't think I like it enough to have to build my monsters/ party/ fragments up from scratch again :monster:

I'm actually on and off trying to create the "perfect" XIII file. Obviously that means farming like crazy, but I find the repeat adamantoise battles therapeutic :monster:

This is what happens when you don't have a FFX re-release to play. Hurry up SE.

Actually, it's easy once you get the pattern. It does suck that you have to go through the entire place to get some certain creatures though.

I know, but I didn't want to 'get the pattern' because I just really didn't want to go back :P But you're right, once you learn the route it's no problem.

Did 1 hr after work last night. Got Omegas crystal on the first try, then I tried fighting Gilgamesh. AAAA! What a nice chunk of HP he has. It took me 45 min to realize I am way too weak to take him. I could manage 1 mill in one stagger, and then he heals like 800,000 (apparently 10%) and that was while fully buffed with 3 debuffs on him. I might have to start infusing monsters nao, or at least get some new accessoires. Also I need to switch speed weapons for damage weapons. And build the stagger bar slower. I tried using Snow briefly and that seemed like a good low level strategy. If I can just get Gilgamesh's HP down to 70%, I might have something.

He only heals when staggered, though. I tried COM'ing him without staggering him, but it took me 20 min to get his HP down to 80% :P

Edit: Someone made a RAV!Light elemental build
She's not super strong or anything, but she puts on quite the show. So much fun to watch XD

Gilgamesh is the worst, You've essentially got two options: One that takes like an hours and the other that takes about 15 minute but it takes a very specific monster pack. I've tried the hour way but about after half his HP deleted he goes into extreme mode and then I just made a stupid mistake.

You can try SABBing his stagger bar down, it takes longer but it won't trigger his extreme mode until much later (I think SABBings stops working once you hit 2 mil), and then you can try Staggering him because that 10% is based of his total HP and wounding takes that away.

The fast method requires a COM like cichu or Lightning (then have armor breaker which is important because it deals extra damage to Giglgamesh who has raised defenses), Cloudburst, and Goblin Chieftan. I didn't even do much infusing and I managed to get him on my first try.

You use their feral links that give your party all the buffs you need, then the deshell+deprotect+imperil- and you will actually do enough damage to really hurt him during the stagger.

It's seriously a life saver. I didn't think I would use it but I winded up doing it and it's the only real way I managed to hurt him. You probably already heard the strategy but just in case...

Com/Com/Lightning
Rav/Rav/Cloudburst
Sab/Rav/Cloudburst
Rav/Rav/Goblin Chieftan
Med/Com/Goblin Chieftan
Sen/Sen/Goblin Chieftan

I went the "fast way" It relies on monsters as the chief part of the strategy

I built Goblin Chieftan (SEN) and Cloudburst (RAV) from the ground up. I didn't do any fancy infusing but I did make sure to put Phy resistance +16 on him, just any will do. I'd also rec it for Cloudburst because Gilgamesh can fuck him up- and if you find decent HP+

RAV+RAV+SEN Gilgamesh and right before he is staggered, use Goblin Chieftan's feral link and it will buff your members. (bravery and strength buffs)

Then SAB RAV RAV- manually select Deshell-deprotect-imperil-imperil-imperil- and use Cloudburst's feral link- and it will en-magic plus buffs and complete the buffs you need.

RAVRAVCLOUDBURST to boost his chain gauge- them comcomcom with your best damage dealer (oh pichuu i love you)

Keep a com+med+sen on you when Gilgamesh enhances his power and switch to rav-rav-sen whenever you can, if you can. You cannot survive without a SEN. And the Com will help from letting your chain gauge dying.

Divider is actually easy to predict, just watch for the calm when he isn't shoving swords up your ass and then switch to SENSENSEN

For weapons and accessories I have Serah's ATB boost Indrait, white cape, and that one accessory that boosts rav roles. For Noel I have his chain boosting (Gandiva?), pain dampener, and a brawler's wristband.

Thanks. I've read about that specific strategy (saw a video too) and it looks flawless. The guy in the video took him down in two staggers. Quite impressive. I'm gonna fiddle around with Accessories and stuff, and get all of the weapons. I also got COM!Light today, and I'm gonna work on her crystarium and stuff and see what I come up with. I'm probably gonna end up doing the same thing out of annoyance, but until then I'm blissfully positive I'm gonna come up with something new X)

Oh and

Also, Blitz is the best attack on Caius #2/ Chaos Bahamut? Kinda lame.

So I finally bought all the DLC :monster:

Enjoyed getting back into it. Spent a chunk of my night farming monster materials, totally forgot how easy it was to farm things with the Clock Master and More Enemies option on. Potent Essences are a bit of a bitch to come by, but potent orbs and crystals stack up so quick, it's great.

So, FINALLY got the Rav Light crystal from Lightning & Amodar. I've had that DLC since day one way back in February. Tonight I had to try 7 times (making a total 28 attempts) and I finally got her.

Then played Nabaat. Managed to beat her first time but I didn't get her crystal. Killed Snow on my second attempt and was lucky enough to get his crystal first time ^_^.

Also played the Sazh: Heads or Tails DLC and didn't enjoy it. It was very meh. Also I'm struggling to see his use as a Synergist when I've got a Yakshini that can give me all the buffs I need with it's Feral Link. Yakshini rocks IMO, though I do also have a Purple Chocobo that I should level.

Sazh does have critical haste, but is there really no haste spell in this game or am I on crack? Or were they on crack when they decided not to put haste in this game? I don't really know. Someone is on crack anyway.

Tomorrow when I return from uni (late in the day since I'm up early tomorrow, lol XIII-2 sucked me in again) I'll do the Goddess DLC, level COM Light (is she better than Chichu?) and catch and level a few tonberries to infuse a cheeky stat bonus before I take on the harder Coliseum monsters. Also hoping to get Jihl's crystal.

Really the only one I found "difficult" was Snow but when I realised the bait and switch mechanism/ thing I managed to kill him in about 5-ish minutes. I just had a paradigm with Noel as a Sentinel and another with Serah, and as soon as he said he was "cooling down", buffed self (usually instantly with Yakshini), debuffed him, one round of Relentless, got his stagger bar to about halfway with Tri-Disaster then Cerberus'd his ass until a bit after he was at "200% Power".

Then repeat :monster:

I'm just so glad I got his crystal first time, I have no desire to do that again.

Could have been better but Chrnobind is my shit. It's honestly better if you get it when you start playing, that way you can easily gain coins without building expensive chocobos or slots. Sazh is also only really useful that way too, considering that you can get him right as you enter the historiacrux- before you enter the Bresha Ruines and get monsters. It's probably cheating but whatever.

Sazh does have critical haste, but is there really no haste spell in this game or am I on crack?
There's no haste you can caste, it just means if his HP goes down to critical levels will automatically haste him. It's similar to the auto:haste which casts haste at the beginning of the battle automatically (as long as you start off with that monster in battle). There are builds for monsters that auto cast haste, bravery, faith, etc then switch it to the next monster.

Sazh isn't a good syn as sad as that sounds, he's a slow caster. He has access to pretty much everything (except bravega and faithaga) but that could be a problem too if he's stuck throwing on shell and protect when you want power buffs. The best part about him is his huge HP pool, but that completely negates the need for critical haste since he'll probably not get to that point.

Yakishini is the best syn imo, I didn't even start using until near where I stopped playing but I wish I used him before that. His feral link is a thing of beauty.

Also @video

Did that guy really beat Chaos at level 0? I would give up after a minute.

So Sazh really is slow, even if you build him? Mine is fully leveled but no infusions, and I do find him a bit slow.

He did. Guy has patience from beyond. And skills ofc.

Not in anything like ATB gauge, I think everyone's the same atb speed unless you manipulate it through items/abilities.

But Sazh was the slowest caster in XIII because of his casting animation (and the slowest damage dealer) and that carried into XIII-2 . All things considered the differences are probably minimal, but if you're use to faster monsters it'll probably grate on your nerves a bit. That and unless you infuse Bravega and Faithaga on him, he'll be left having to throw bravery/faith on a single person (I wish there was a manually prioritize synergists in this game. I never felt like I had this problem in XIII >__>).

I used him anyway. Because, you know, he's Sazh D:

OK so finally finished the COMLight DLC - I liked the battles and the way Lightning was "built", but I found it a bit tedious at first due to the grindyness, but then again I was probably supposed to give up and let myself die :monster:

I managed to beat Caius at Level 2 with Lightning and Chaos Bahamut at level 6 or 7. Originally I got Caius down to about a quarter of his HP at level 1 but I found it really boring. I don't know if you're just supposed to give up or what but I found I adapted quite quickly to his strategy. Strategising like that was quite fun, haven't had to do that in XIII for a while.

Anyway, storywise I also really really liked it, but definitely thought it was a bit lacking. I don't know if that's because the only other games I've bought DLC for is Mass Effect and Deus Ex and they're around the same price but usually with about 3-12 hours of fresh content (that isn't a repeat battle), but as the new term goes, "Square-Enix Tax" and all that.

Now it's on to build them up a little bit. I'm not too bothered about infusing a million monsters to filter shit out then infusing the filter monster into Light. So far all I've done is infuse Str%Mag+35% into both Rav and Com Light. I'm also thinking about quick stagger for Rav Light from Don Tonberry, anyone know if it's worth it? Also are there any other abilities worth transferring in?
