Final Fantasy XV (was Versus XIII)

I just watched it about 4 times. It's very good, captured my attention, and really gives off that Omen feeling. Brilliantly done I think.
What you just said above Lex, about it being Regis's premonition on what if Noctis went alone, is fascinating to think of. Makes sense why he was driving the car alone too, in the beginning. Has a nice start with a buildup. Him seeing Luna's dog on the side of the road, watching him, gave me a strange feeling.

I loved the visuals, seems like that was Altissia turned into a desert? They walked into a gondola so yeah. I loved Noctis following the dog, like it was leading him on his journey, like he was trying to find Luna.

Song was epic, fit right into the entire trailer.

Another shot of Altissia getting the crap blown out of it, it seems. Fight scenes were epic. I love that Noctis keeps seeing Luna as his reflection, and I caught her being on the other side of the behemoth mirror on my second watch. Cool detail.

Loved seeing his clothes get more and more torn as the scene went on. I didn't clue into him being the guy Luna was fighting until he threw the trident down.
When I saw her dog first get the red eyes, I thought it was an omen, but when her dog turned into some burned up demonic looking version (black like Noctis's) and 'his' hand touched its head and it starts snarling back at the dreaming him, I got chills. I dunno, seeing time rewind for a moment, as showing that burned dog instead on the trip, chilled me. As if Luna's dog had been dead the whole time along with her, and he was instead following this other one into a nightmare that he seemed to have a big hand in creating.

Damn, just really well done and intriguing, I feel like it's a foreshadow. (I've not seen any of this big plot leaks personally so thankfully I'm not too spoiled).

Also, part with Regis at the end, he's talking to a specific Lucii thingie that wants one person dead? With the vision that just happened, it makes me wonder if he meant Luna.
I like the idea that Regis has somehow had a hand in perhaps orchestrating the whole storyline/what's to come, whether he liked doing it or not. Also especially interesting since he's supposed to be dead most the game.

Edit: Just realized that the tree Luna's dog is seen sitting next to in the beginning is the same tree in the ending with the hellhounds.
And an additional thing that seems suspect, can the Lucii control Noctis through the ring? Hmm.

Square is spending way too much money and effort on this game and everything around it, it's not even funny :monster:

That was the first thing that came to my mind as well. I mean, it's obvious that they really NEED this to succeed. So much is riding on its shoulders.

That was an amazing trailer though.

I can't stop watching it. I've been holding off on the FFXV stuff, but I think I'm gonna dive in to all of it this weekend and let my hype train run full steam ahead.

Watched twice, because damn. What a powerful trailer.

So, speculation time --
I wonder if that demonic voice toward the end of the trailer belongs to Ifrit, who we see on a throne in Chapter 0 when one first starts up the game? (On a related note, I'm realizing no one pointed out in this thread that Tabata confirmed a while ago that the satanic being sitting on the throne there is indeed Ifrit, but also that Ifrit is not the final boss.)

While on that note, Ifrit's pose on the throne in Chapter 0 is not only similar to Chaos's pose in one of Amano's original depictions of him, as Ghost pointed out a few weeks ago (Ghost, you seemed to know that the being had been confirmed as Ifrit; true?) -- it's also similar to Noctis's pose at the end of the original Versus XIII trailer. Does that, along with all the firery imagery in this trailer, tie into Noctis's demonic-looking eyes and violence toward Lunafreya here?

Fan theorists have a different idea about Noctis's fiery eyes and violence against Luna that makes more sense to me, but that may be spoilery.
Noctis is a warrior of chaos, and Luna is of the light.
As for Ifrit confirmation, I'm pretty sure that was confirmed. I'm sure google will know. Copy pasting shit on my phone is tedious though :p.

Oooooo theories, I like.

I got Occuria from FFXII vibes from the voice at the end of the trailer, but I assumed the voice to be those of the past kings (thinking the evil looking big dudes Nyx bargained with when he put the ring on)? But now you've said it's potentially Ifrit and with the prior throne imagery I'm wondering if they're one and the same. As in the summons of XV's world are part of the power of the past kings, like maybe that's how they physically manifest in the world after death or something. All of this is quite obviously going to be central to the plot I'd imagine.

I feel like it's probably going to go fairly predictably in the sense that as Noctis visits the gravesites and accumulates more power from the Kings and the summons he'll feel the negative effect of the power and maybe rebel against the system at some point halfway to late in the story. It's FF after all - we know that using the power shortens the life of the current King, we know that he has a job/ duty to do and we know it's fairly dark in terms of FF stories. I also feel like we're almost guaranteed a "You're Not Alone" moment a la FFIX somewhere during the game where he'll succumb to the evil for a bit and shirk his friends, then they'll refuse to give up on him, stand by me starts playing etc etc.

I don't know if I'm just inferring too much from previous impressions but I always kind of had the idea that the empire - while they're obviously dicks - could potentially have some good motives rather than just being a simple evil empire? Like why does Lucis have the only remaining crystal? Why are the empire seeking to take over when only a person of Noctis's lineage can wield the power? There are only a few very small pieces of the puzzle missing for the plot to kind of reveal itself to me in a speculative sense.

The tl;dr is that from very early on I got the impression that Noctis's kingdom was in some way kind of evil or the bad guys of the world, but we're following an insiders perspective of that. So I'd find it really interesting if that turned out to be true, because it's only ever really been done in FFIV and that was in a more... juvenile way, in a sense. Like "mwahahaha I'm evil", "no my king I don't want to do this anymore waaa" whereas XV is a bit more adult in its storytelling so far.

All of the power is in some way tied to the crystal, we know that much too. Are the empire seeking to destroy the crystal since it's the last one?

Even if everything I just said happens I'm looking forward to it, I wouldn't call that disappointing.

Interesting. :monster:
He seems straight-up possessed, though, so I'm not sure how that may or may not play into that theory.

It was (I posted the links to it in my post prior to yours). I was just asking if you had known about it at the time of your post from a few weeks ago that I linked to/referenced.

So you're not just thinking an Occuria vibe; you're thinking a FFXII-in-general vibe. "Put the reigns of history back in the hands of man," as it were.

I don't know if the empire we're dealing with in XV is quite that complex (I rather doubt it), but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised on this count.

@Tres: There's more evidence of the fan theory I'm going with, but that'd take paragraphs to type out. better to just watch the lengthy videos on youtube :P.
Basically, Noctis's magic is chaos-based, as are at least many of the summons, as are the robot soldiers with the red eyes. Notice how all the magic is the same colour? :P.
Since chaos is linked with darkness, this has huge implications for what may happen to Luna, given the likely plague of the stars event that will probably happen some point in the story. Her death (or some other form of consciousness-lackingness) will likely cause it :P. From the footage so far after all, Ardyn (likely antagonist) seems to be playing a puppet master role, having Noctis do the work for him. Major plot twists are afoot :P. Hell, there's more speculation than that, but I'll leave it there :P

I'm pretty sure I heard it confirmed back then.
