Situation like this, SE should just have stuff shipped early for people who pre-ordered, and cut the street date out of the equation at this point.
It's 2016, and eleven days in Internet Land is equivalent to a whole age in Middle-earth time. The artificial scarcity thing will only add negativity to what should be a very positive launch for this game which absolutely must succeed for SE on every level.
That, and there's no putting a genie back in the bottle on the Internet anymore.
This right here will be another test of how much SE has learned about dealing with the gaming public. Sure, they can C&D people, they can fine retailers, they can DMCA, they can get Sony and Microsoft to lock gamer accounts, they can sue if they feel especially froggy -- or they can just roll with it all and make sure that if they do punish anyone, it's not the people so eager to get their hands on their newest product, that they'll even pay extra just a short eleven days before the official release.
Meanwhile, I'll be checking the streams for footage.
