Finished up the last of the Camping Events, got Rank 10 in Fishing and Cooking, and now have that Platinum that I was working towards before Gladio and extra DLC gives me more to do for virtual accolades.

Now I'm wondering whether I ought to go 'round doing more hunts, farm some AP, work at trying to find and kill some more MAX Angelus-0, track down some miscellaneous side missions like breakdowns, lost hunters, etc. or just go exploring.

Assuming we'll get a new limited time hunt tomorrow, which will get me wandering.

Call be a pleb or a heathen, but I just have to say this:

I think the idea of "limited time events" in a non-MMO game are really stupid and really kill my motivation to play. A single-player game should have teh benefit of being able to do things in your own time. I shouldn't have to stress about missing something because somebody said "hey let's change the way we've done things for years now." Why was the Chocobo Moogle Carnival thing a limited time event? There was literally no good reason for that. This is not an MMO where you have thousands of people accessing content for a seasonal event and it becomes like a second life to them. And even then it's questionable but at least it makes sense.

Iono, maybe I'm ranting but I just don't like it. I like my single-player games to be "on your own time" affairs. adding a ticking clock does not make it more enjoyable. Frankly I think the whole thing spawned from a corporate desire to force people to keep playing so their 10 year investment doesn't look like a game that people played, then beat and never picked back up.

^Agree with this.

Didn't even finish the Festival because I cba to play FFXV at the moment. It doesn't even make much sense from a corporate point of view. In an MMO, you want people to keep coming back because they'll pay monthly fees.
For a single player RPG it doesn't really matter, does it?

I mean, it's cool that there's content they keep supplying us with that is free but I don't like impermanent content. I dunno, maybe when it is all done all content will be unlocked forever or something but for now, I'm not a fan of limited events.

.

It's not about the money, it's about play-through. Thanks to the world of the interwebs, unit sales are not the only factor in determining success. Keeping people playing and being able to track that "hey of those 10 million that bought the game, 7 million also downloaded the latest DLC which means they are still playing" looks very good. Especially when you start talking about the PAID DLC.

It's asinine and another reason why DLC is the devil.

Why? These are such arbitrary rules.

There´s no reason to make the event permanent either other than entitlement for convinience.

Yet you have time to post in a forum to comment you cba to play the game at the moment? Time management is not hard.

What´s wrong with this? Is the concept of long term investment somewhat allien here?

Unless you wanna clarify and/or expand upon what you replied to each of those posts/sections of posts you quoted, what I just typed up there is exactly what you're saying. You're not adding why you think so. You just disagree (rudely), and just leave it there.

I'm a fan of the limited time hunts, because they just offer a boatload of XP & AP and they're just random existing enemies like (basically) every other hunt and it gives me motivation to jump back in to XV every so often — which it wouldn't if they were normal hunts, since I've been doing a great job of putting all of those off.

The festival is one of those things that I wish wasn't time-limited. I finished the event, but I'd still like to wander through it again at my leisure. Hell
Umbra lets you go through time to normal, stupid Altissia, so why not this place, too? Especially because Festival Altissia isn't a reminder of the moment just before everything got sad.

Okay honestly are you just a really obsessive fanboy?

Every single player game that has ever existed before the concept of DLC had the benefit of "hey I can put this down, pick it up later and not miss out on anything." Even when DLC was common the DLC could be played later AT ANY TIME. It's not an arbitrary rule it's the way things have been done because it's common fucking sense.

Literally I cannot think of any other game apart from FFXV that has this "limited time event" DLC system. THAT is what's arbitrary.

There´s no reason to make the event permanent either other than entitlement for convinience.

"An entitlement for convenience."

"An entitlement for convenience"

It's a game you pleb, not a lifestyle.

If anybody is wondering why I am being such a dick, this comment in particular pissed me off. Maybe time management isn't difficult for the dude living in his mom's basement but, say, for those of us who work full time with a kid at home and basically can play some games on the weekend for a couple hours it's a bit more difficult.

Refer to the "don't be a dick" rule, you dick.

What´s wrong with this? Is the concept of long term investment somewhat allien here?

Refer to my earlier comment about how DLC used to not be stupid.

Lulcielid, I think you need to examine why you feel the need to arbitrarily defend everything Square does, because you do do it a lot. It's not bad time management or "entitled" behaviour to be annoyed that you're locked into a specific timeframe when there appears to be no good reason for that specific timeframe to exist.

I'll come right out and say I don't care that they're doing timed DLC for XV. I think it's dumb and I think it's OK for people to say that it's dumb, but I'm not annoyed by it. If their reasoning is that they want to do more events in the same area, there's always the option to include some sort of menu or trigger to start those events (because you know, everyone already has the data sitting there doing nothing, unable to access it for literally no reason other than "this is a timed event").

Agreed with everything (everything) Lex just said, and most of what Jason said.

Also, lol @ convenience needing justifications.

Also also, lol @ it being entitlement for someone to get annoyed over an unnecessary wall cutting players off from additional content in a (non-MMO) game that was admitted to be incomplete in the first place.

I'm gonna echo what X said a few posts ago about the limited time hunts.

The Moogle Chocobo Carnival though... Sure it would've been nice if it went on longer, but I'm not too fussed. I completed all of the tasks there was to do in a timely manner, saw the fireworks show, etc. Only things I had left were to go around and take pictures of the items/people on those bulletin lists at various points around the city, and I couldn't be arsed to do that. It was a fun carnival and all, I enjoyed it. Didn't they have it up for like a month or something? I remember it starting when we were at KupoCon.

I feel like I'm indifferent to these timed events, although that will probably change when I hit more of those busy points in life and don't have enough time to dedicate to the game.

I get there at about the 13:00 min mark.

Best thing to do in this fight is take out everyone but one of the Malbadoom, and then just farm the Malboro Sprouts that continually spawn around it. 1AP per Warp Strike kill, and they seem to drop Mega Potions for you, too. I maxed out my supply of them pretty quickly, which ESSENTIALLY means that you could do this battle basically forever to farm AP (in addition to the 500 that the hunt gives you for completion, I pulled about 110 AP from just the little dudes). I didn't farm the cactuar one, but being as I JUST BARELY hit 103 after this fight, I think I'm gonna farm this place for a bit now that I don't HAVE to do it in my Camping & Fishing farm spot since I hit Rank 10 in those skills, since this is kinda a fun change of pace being by Iris & Co, albeit slightly less AP efficient than my other location.

Speaking of which, if you wanna know where my main AP farm is and the setup for it, I'll gladly post a video on it. It is much better for lower levels, too. (R1+∆=win)
