Well, I don't think there's going to be any more complaints about
the Ring of the Lucii being underpowered now. XD

And used on MA-X Angelus-0:
vSaBBlr.jpg

Alterna is overpowered as fuuuck now.

I love that there's a small % chance that it'll work on anything. Insofar as the MA-X Angelus-0 is concerned, that you won't get the better item unless you break one of its limbs first (and even then, it's a small chance of a drop) is still really good, since there're reasons to fight it, rather than just say, "lolololbye."

It really is the best answer to, "not powerful enough for you, eh?" ever. Especially good because they can implement it now and not worry about it affecting any of their DLC, since they're all about the other characters.

I noticed that they added those songs to the car radio today. :monster:

Also, friends. And not friends. Acquaintances. Fellow frands. I need help.

For months I have struggled with Costlemark Tower. How days have I spent wandering around in the wretched labyrinth that constantly dumps me into the same room over and over again? How many hordes of Red Giants and Nagas have I slaughtered in my quest to find the correct path and defeat the monster of the inner sanctum for a weapon I'm never going to use outside of an armiger chain? How many times did I run back to Galdin Quay to capitalize on all that sweet sweet EXP?

Well, last Wednesday, I managed to find my way through the wretched hell that is Costlemark Tower, defeat the Jabberwocky, give Ignis inspiration for a new recipe, and retrieve a new Royal Arms, and got the fuck out of there. I was never going to step back into that Tower if I could help it. Never. NEVER.

...Right up until I found out that there was a hunt that required me to go back to Costlemark Tower and kill the Jabberwocky within.

I think you guys can imagine the scream of rage and frustration that burst out of my soul.
And I think you guys know what I'm going to ask. I can't even remember how I managed to get into the inner sanctum the first time around, I just started running around and hitting X when prompted to. It was a fucking miracle sent from Divine Etros herself that I managed to finally find my way through. I think I tried recreating the path I took last time, but it ended up with me fighting my way through another horde of Red Giants and Nagas.

Please tell me there's an easier way to get into the inner sanctum.
Please let there be DLC that lets me fucking bypass this puzzle bullshit and give me a fucking elevator to the inner sanctum.
(I know that you have to go through the puzzle twice, and the third time is supposed to lead you to the true path, but everytime I beat the puzzle for the third time, Red Giants and Nagas are waiting to beat my ass in. What am I doing wrong?!)

I want to say I feel your pain, but you won't know true frustration with this game until you go to Pitioss Dungeon. If you choose to.

I did go back to Costlemark to hunt a Jabberwocky the other day; it had been so long that I couldn't remember how to get to the very bottom and I couldn't be arsed to look at my strategy guide. Took me a good twenty minutes of dicking around to figure it out.

...now I'm afraid of Pitioss Dungeon. :closedmonster: (Getting lost in Pitioss Dungeon, actually.) I mean, right now I'm level 99 and Red Giants are still a hassle for me to fight. Just...why do their levels lie to me, huh?!

I kind of feel like Pitioss is more straightforward than it seems if you think of it in terms of "What's around me and where can I move at this stage?" rather than looking at it for what is immediately obvious (e.g. open rooms). Much like older FF world maps, there's an illusion of freedom in these rooms. What you actually need to do is pretty straightforward.

But this is just a guy who's never actually played the game talking, and has only watched videos -- a gazillion of them, sure, but still never actually played. :monster:

I was rating the two based on levels of frustration Tres. :monster:

Costlemark was a bitch to navigate, but at least I didn't have to worry about missing a ledge and starting an entire level over.

I do know some nice Pitioss glitches to get through the dungeon with minimal frustration though. Honestly, the only accessories in the game worth a damn are the Genji Gloves and the Black Hood, and you don't even find those until the very end anyway.

X, I'm still working on making that hoodie design come to life!

At least your camera didn't break any time you tried Warp Striking in Costlemark. That is what made that place fresh hell. I've never had the camera glitch after my initial run, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered it being.

Tbqh, I too found out about the Jabberwocky hunt the other week and just rolled straight through it with basically no issues at all. It wasn't NEARLY as frustrating as I remembered. Granted I was level 102 or something then (just BARELY hit 104 with my whole team today), and had also done the EX Dungeon there, too, so ymmv. Once you dig into the EX Dungeon stuff, Costlemark is a dark memory that's not nearly as bad as you remember it in practice.

@lith — Eeeeeeeeeee!!!

Also:

I did some playing around with the new Ring of the Lucii and really dig it. It feels like the artifact it was meant to be. I had a good time reminding myself what it was like to fight the MA-X Angelus-0 and then nuking them. Found a good spot to encounter them reliably (3 in the span of a day), so I think I'll hang out here for a bit and try to farm for the V2 suits.

Additionally, some lulzy shenanigans that I'm sure Tres will enjoy.

Is Episode Gladio available for anyone yet? I can't sleep and I was thinking about checking my PS4 real fast to see if it downloaded.

It wasn't for me a couple hours ago. Chapter 13.2 was a nice little preview, and I surprisingly found Zegnatus keep just as creepy as when I was there before.

Speaking of the updates and lulzy shenanigans, have a video of the Adamantoise being killed via Death.

And also speaking of the updates, has anyone heard a radio broadcast in Chapter 13's Verse 2 in which a soldier says something about "Callux" warning him the empire would fall? And another after which Gladio comments on "fake news" (apparently a different comment from Ignis's "alternative facts")?

I'm seeing references to these on Reddit, but haven't seen them in any YouTube videos.

I'd have to play through the section again and listen. I'm intrigued.

Episode Gladio not available yet. :(

Also I got some pretty rad pictures from 13.2, I should post them later.

Here we go, found a video with all the radio broadcasts from Chapter 13, Verse 2:

Newscaster: This is the Imperial Security Bureau. A situation has arisen in several research sectors. All civilians must relocate to their designated refuge stations immediately. Failure to evacuate will result in incarceration or other appropriate disciplinary procedures. This emergency broadcast will repeat until the situation has been resolved. The Imperial Security Bureau thanks you for your cooperation.
Gladiolus: You think that "situation" is us...or something else?
Ignis: The latter, I presume. Whatever it is must be a matter of considerable scale to warrant such a warning. Keep your ears open. These broadcasts may help us understand what's going on outside.
----

Newscaster: This is a status report from the Imperial Defense Force. The daemon outbreak stemming from several research facilities has been suppressed in most areas. Magitek infantry units have been deployed to remaining sectors. The situation is under control. For your safety, a temporary curfew is imposed on all areas. Your cooperation is required to ensure the security of yourself and other civilians.
Gladiolus: They've got their hands full. Bet they never thought their little "pets" would bust outta their cages.
Ignis: I doubt even the daemons could simply escape from such a secure facility. It's more likely their "master" set them free.
----

Newscaster: This is the Imperial Security Bureau. A state of emergency has been declared, effective immediately. Movement out of and around the city is restricted at this time. All civilians must relocate to their designated refuge stations and await further instruction. Civilians who fail to comply with official bureau directives will be subject to incarceration or other appropriate disciplinary procedures. This emergency broadcast will repeat until the situation has been resolved. The Imperial Security Bureau thanks you for your cooperation.
Gladiolus: They've got nowhere to run.
Ignis: And, at this point, no one left to protect them, either.
----

Imperial soldier: Calling all frequencies—hey. Hey! Is anybody out there? ...Anybody who hasn't turned yet? Anybody? This is—no, forget it. What does it matter? Only a matter of time until I turn just like everyone else did. He was right. "Ain't long until the empire falls—and when she does, it'll hit like a ton of bricks." Should've taken his advice and got out when I had the chance. Y'hear that, Callux? You were right. Go on—tell me, "I told you so." Sorry I won't be able to pick up my tab.
Gladiolus: Think anyone else heard that?
Ignis: If they did, I suspect they're no longer human enough to sympathize.
Gladiolus: Whole place has gone to hell... All the rest is probably just fake news.
Ignis: Assuming all of what we heard is true.
----

Also, a screenshot someone took where the lighting made Gladio look blond—he looks like Thor. :monster:

And the most amazing Gladio cosplay ever.

I totally got the "alternative facts" and "fake news" moments, and thought they were HILARIOUS. Glad you found a vid of it later. The Gladio gameplay was fun and I'm looking forward to trying the episode tonight. Thanks for the clarification on Callux, btw. I was wondering about that.

Also - interested to see what Gladio's Rugged look does for his stats, and holy gods, that Prompto trailer.

I found a transcription of the audio where Callux is mentioned but not the audio itself. I just need to go back through and play it. I thought I had found all of the radios too. Or maybe I heard it and just don't remember. :closedmonster:

I'm seriously jonesing to go home and play Episode Gladio. :'(

And I actually saw the Prompto trailer a few days ago? It hit Tumblr real quick. I can't help but feel like Gladio's episode got the shaft; it's obvious that Prompto's episode is going to do way more for his character than Gladio's will for his. At least that's the feeling I've gotten.

I'm looking forward to playing Gladio's Episode but I'm definitely way more jazzed for Prompto's. That teaser/trailer has me SHOOK.

I kinda feel like he's the character who needed a bit more development, though? Like, his backstory is the most mysterious and least explored, I felt?

The Callux bit can be heard in the room where you go to Save/Rest when you're Noctis.

I'm just excited to see what it's all about since I've avoided any information about it. Given Chapter 13.2, I'm intrigued to see what the combat feels like in a larger chapter where things're a bit more intense.

TONIGHT!!!

On the contrary, I feel that Prompto had better development than the rest of the party members. That's just my opinion though. The only time we see a different side of Gladio is when Iris is with them, but let's be real; the best part of their sibling relationship was already showcased in Brotherhood. I feel like this DLC is just barely touching upon the inadequacy he must feel from having his ass kicked just that one time.

Of course I'm happy with what we're getting regardless, but it kind of sucks when the objective of the character DLCs are so vastly different. I feel like I'm getting short shrifted with a character that many folks are already indifferent to.

Thanks for that X! Hopefully I remember when I start my New Game +... Actually, that's probably why I don't remember the dialogue in the first place. Is it a new addition or something? I'm all over the place atm.
