Soooo...
How come it looks like eternal sunset and not darkness like at the end of XV? >.> I can't be the only one giving that light in the multiplayer the side eye. :closedmonster:

Yes, I nitpicked the hell out of it when the beta was released. I think I mentioned it on a podcast somewhere. >_>

I'm actually ok with the permanent twilight just so that I can get a better look at all the demons and things that'd be more harshly lit in permanent night.

Episode Prompto kinda showed they didn't really care that strongly about how dark it should be at certain times. Anyway, I didn't really expect this expansion to be set so early on. Kind of a bummer to be honest.

The lighting thing is pretty annoying. Either embrace the implications of the setting or don't pick that setting. Simple.

On a different note, can one or two of you possibly do me a favor and check your copies of the Lovers' Notebook under Key Items?
I'm extremely close to completing the FFXV lore archive -- lith is providing screenshots of the bestiary (only the short Niflheim and Imperial sections are left), BlindingAwesomeness of Reddit is getting the "No way" dialogue for the four tours where I don't have it, and that just leaves the Lovers' Notebook. Specifically, the menu descriptions from if you sent replies of "Got it" back with Umbra, or if you sent positive-but-not-the-most-positive replies.

The one from saying "Got it" should mention a trace of dust on the last page. The other should mention the pages being well worn or something to that effect.

A more in depth detail of what was said in yesterday ATR broadcast: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFXV/comments/71x6ms/tokyo_game_show_2017_atr_reuploaded/

(translation credits to user /u/xXRaineXx)
  1. This may be the very last ATR, but it hasn't been finalized.
  2. COMRADES will offer 2 modes, multiplayer and singleplayer content. In multiplayer you can play with bots. Singleplayer, you will be set in Lestallum and you will be able to enjoy it as a RPG-like game.
  3. The story is set when Noctis is missing and you will play as a Glaive during this time.
  4. Set in the World of Darkness, your goal is to collect meteor shard to power up power stations to provide electricity to other areas. You progress as you connect the power line and as you do so, you also unlock perks for your character.
  5. By completing quests, you can get items to upgrade your weapons. This aspect is a lot more expanded than the main game.
  6. You can rescue NPC's and have them settle in the town. You can also set a NPC to be the leader of the town, with each NPC Leader providing different perks.
  7. Sigils of the Kings - will provide different perks and give each player a certain role. Example, tanks and healers. Each Sigil will also provide different skills, such as ''Jump'', ''Airstep'', ''Taunt'' and ''Barrier''.
  8. You can communicate by a variety of preset phrases or voice chat.
  9. Sigils can be unlocked through the story.
  10. A special skill ''Cheer'' temporarily increase the parties powers.
  11. The demo was located in the abandoned Chocobo Post.
  12. The vocals for the theme song is sung by a high school student. A Japanese High School student. Sidenote; She is was very popular at one point (still is kinda), she appeared in commercials stunning people with her powerful voice.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeUMV5aewD4
  13. Tabata again says that he understands that there are many PC only players in the world despite the small PC market in Japan. And that MODS will allow players to create their own definitive edition.
  14. With mods, you can create your own quests for example. You can set the location, the enemies and the powers etc and share them on such as the Steam workshop. This will also be available in Single and Multiplayer.
  15. In regards to the VR game, Tabata explains why he chose fishing as the main theme. Although they attempted an action type VR game with Prompto last year, they figured that it was too difficult and the current VR technology did not allow for fast paced action with combo/link attacks. It would've taken a lot of resources and time to develop, so they moved towards a concept that allowed players to simply enjoy the game.
  16. Monsters of the Deep is Part 1 of the VR games. They already have plans to further develop a part 2 using their new found experience with part 1.
  17. An exclusive team has been working hard to develop Episode Ignis as the front of FFXV's last officially announced DLC. It will be filled with new information.
  18. A trailer for Episode Ignis may be available next month.
  19. Tabata and the dev team has been thinking if it's really okay to just let it ''end'' with Episode Ignis. With the survey that was done earlier this year, taking in the feedback of the players, everyone including Tabata, Ofuji and the development team thought about what they should do. FFXV has been to many different events all throughout the world and Tabata has been to each of them, meeting and talking to the fans. He asked what they liked, what they wanted and what they disliked. He thanks to all those that supported him and he says that after speaking to everyone, the biggest voice was ''Please don't let it end there'' and ''We want you to continue''. The demand for a bigger expanded story was big.
Tabata wants to respond to these demands from the fans. They want to continue expanding the game through 2018 next year.
He clarifies that as a company there are set plans and schedules and changing them is difficult. He apologizes that as a developer, their goal is to create new games. And he states that BD2 already has finalized their next big project, considering that, they thought about how they could balance this and continue to support FFXV next year. After after overcoming many obstacles and changing the structure of the development team, they are able to say that they are able to continue development next year.
  20. They already have plans for what to accomplish next year and that is delivering on what fans want most. They will continue to and further development the story, filling up missing information.
  21. It's not going as far as a sequel, but it's about the strengthening of the existing game and story. Tabata acknowledges that there were lacking aspects of the game. Not just the back stories of the characters or character development, but also with the world and lore as the world itself has a story of it's own. They have received much feedback on these fronts as well as in the survey and they worked hard until now to create a development structure to be able to deliver with everything we got. And again now, they are able to say, that this will be happening.
  22. With the next update including story upgrades, it is based on the Summons. And this is just part 1 of the updates to come hereon.
  23. In the update will also include a connection to Episode Ignis that Tabata thinks is a very important part of the story that players should know.
  24. With that, they will continue to develop the world and it's characters in FFXV next year.
  25. Probably within this year, they will announce the roadmap of what they want to do next year.

That is all.

Note; Tabata used the phrase ''一年間’’ a lot, which means ''throughout the year''. Which may incline that they have plans to possibly continue development for an entire whole year. He could have instead used ''来年’’ (next year) instead of the former.

I'm actually feeling good about hearing him say that they're going to continue adding more to the story and lore of the game for the next year. I haven't really touched the game since January and I'm thinking that I likely won't again for a while still. But when I do get back to it, knowing there'll be so much new content (even if it's just bits here and there) will be loads of fun to see <3

I've avoided posting much in this thread because I don't want to simply shit on any news, one day I'll likely become a proper fan of XV. But honestly, I'm disappointed to hear they'll be continuing with this stuff since they committed to ending it this year. I just want them to declare their stuff with XV is done and move on to their next project.

Yeah, one would think that Episode Ignis would be the end of it and they can just move on to their other projects.

But then again, everything Square says ends up in the complete opposite and/or they change their minds when it gets closer to the end of the year. I'm not trying to sound horrible, but...well, it's hard to say.

Tabata's other 'supposed' projects; Type-Next(sequel to Type-0 HD)....I don't see that happening.

Final Fantasy Type 0-Online that was only released in China and supposed to release worldwide....Not happening. It's been too long since it's beta release last year and they've been very quiet about this.

Final Fantasy XV is admittedly better than the XIII trilogy, but seriously...there's no need to continue adding interquels/midquels/prequels within the very story.

Why such hurry?

It's not a hurry, it's the track for the vast majority of big releases these days. Companies generally talk about a release and create DLC for it for about a year - 18 months after it's actually been released. They said a few months ago that XV content would end with Ignis, and now they're going to be stuck on this title for an entire year longer than (IMO) necessary.

I don't hate XV, I enjoyed my time with the game and I'll likely get into it in a big way on another playthrough soon enough. I just want SE as a whole to move on from that world altogether. The decade and changes that led up to its release are finally over, but they're dragging it out.

More story added to the game is welcome tbh, I look forward to seeing what they add to the regular experience. But I'm personally sick of hearing about it at this point :monster:

He confirmed he wont be making another Type-Game.

Not surprised. I knew it would come to this. Plus, as far as I'm concerned, Type 0 doesn't need anymore Type games.

If you read point 21, he said there won't be any kind of quels.

What I meant was they keep on adding more stuff within the story that's already completed through DLC, not making actual quels in different forms.

That's pretty much how I feel.

Can't really objectively complain about free updates and such but I played the shit out of it when it came out and mostly enjoyed my time but then I moved on and at this point I'm just getting a bit tired of ongoing FFXV updates, which is a feeling that I think is also exacerbated by Square not really having any other news on big titles on the horizon since FFVIIR news are still AWOL.
