Final Fantasy XV (was Versus XIII)

TBF I agree, XV was a salvage operation for the work done on Versus for the past ten years, it's been a huge success and despite the extended development they broke even on the first day of the release. I don't think it's anywhere near a good game and ranks rather low in the rankings of FF games, IDK if the DLC and whatnot have managed to salvage it but, myeh.

I hope they're able to focus on XVI and manage to develop and release it within the next 3-4 years, you know, like a professional game company could do.

What's probably going to happen though is they'll work on DLC and two sequels over the remainder of this console generation, because hey, cash cow.

Dove in to Chapter 8 twice for the Cup Noodle Rogue Behemoth and Rogue Karlabos, hit Chapter 14 for a Daemon Wall, and 10 for the Falxfang, then took my save to Chapter 15.

While it did reset all my quest and hunt experience and such (which is annoying, that gives me a lot more opportunities to grind out some XP and feel more motivated to getting things done, despite needing to repeat things like re-revealing as much of the world map as I physically can. All-in-all, finally having a green save feels pretty nice, and I have my Original save if I wanna go about it differently.

In what will probably be a surprise to no one, I'm stoked as fuck about all of this. :monster:

Same! :awesomonster:

And Lith makes three! :awesomonster:

I understand that for some folks it's getting tedious, having already invested their time in the game and feeling exasperated that more content is being spewed out that they can't/won't enjoy, but there are fans out there who are still deeply invested in the game and the story, and if Square wants to produce additional content for me them, I'm all for it.

There are many divisions within Square Enix who are concentrating on other games, and the team still working on content for XV is only a fraction of what it used to be. I'm not too worried about the company devoting too much personnel to crank out this extra stuff.

Perhaps I'll be more motivated to play again once FFDNT hits in January.

Right now I'm just... Lazily driving around. I haven't even done NGPlus yet. Haven't had any reasons to yet.

I played SO MUCH XV last night. For whatever reason, soft-resetting at Chapter 15 has just revived my love for roaming and exploring everything in the world. Even though it was an inefficient way of doing that, since I restarted my Hunts before completing them on my main save, I feel more like doing ALL OF THEM than I do on my other one for some reason.

Like... the first thing I did was just dive in and fight the Adamantoise again, and I loved it. I also purged almost all my photos on this save, and it's just so reinvigorating. roaming about and meticulously doing everything again. I can't really explain why, but it's just the greatest. (I still need to get a goddamn Magitek Suit v2 for everyone, since none of the goddamn Angelus have dropped a SINGLE one for me yet).

I don't think it's so much the fact that people can't enjoy new FFXV content, but rather the fact some would rather have Square move on and not "get stuck" with it.

Getting new numbered entries is a slow business, these days. So I'd rather they get on with it? Even though to be honest I'm still looking forward to new FFXV content. It's just I'd rather they don't force it. But of course, if sales are good, they will. We should not forget they're a company and they're in it for money.

I find this a bit funny as the DLC release schedule is really similar to an MMO update scheduled, only there's no MMO. So maybe that's what's behind the different reactions to it?

I'm personally fine with the numbered entries being far apart, it makes their release be more meaningful.

Damn cos of the Overwatch summer games and now Destiny 2, I never got about this event. I dont think my Ps4 could handle this huge amount of updates. The last time I played 15 was at March this year

Can I ask if most of these updates are mandatory or paid up to download?

At least you’re not as far behind as me. My cat pissed all over my PS4 around January or something and I haven’t played since I got it fixed. I really should get back on it as it’s one of my favorites in the series.

I’ve barely done any of the hunts, so I’ve got a lot of stuff to do still. Should I be waiting for updates or nah?

Wonder if that will change once the multiplayer aspect comes into play.

Most will be mandatory.

There's already plenty of new stuff for you to do if you haven't played since January. Especially if you get the two paid DLCs as well.

Short answer: Yes. :monster:

Long answer: Episode Prompto more so, but Episode Gladiolus is worth it in my opinion as well.

May be worth consulting a gameplay video or two if you're concerned to any significant degree.

I’ll certainly get the Prompto one, he’s easily my favorite character. I’ll at least wait until I’m finished with that to get the Gladio one. Thanks for the heads up!

Says the man who hasn't played the game :wacky:

Honestly, and I'm sure X will whole-heartedly agree with me, I think the Ragnarok sword is worth the price of the Season Pass alone. :awesomonster:

But the rest of the content is great as well. It's certainly unconventional with how Square has worked in the past, adding free story content as well as DLCs, but if you become invested in the game and the story, then it will prove its worth.

Played a bunch again last night, and mainly just stomped through hunts and little side quests. It's nice being able to take this route to be more completionist about my methodology. That and it's just fun to roam around the world setting again.

I do genuinely find myself looking back on the start of the game a lot back when it was terrifying to wander at night, and I didn't know what was beyond the walls. The world has a lot of just satisfying stuff baked into it.
