Final Fantasy XV (was Versus XIII)

Well, at this point I compare FFXV with blockbuster film trilogies like LoTR and long running TV shows like Game of Thrones.

The game itself isn't the only part of the experience, as even the funny Tweets, Trailers, crossovers, books, and everything else are part of this experience.

I do not expect FFXV's story to be this linear canonical "thing" your typical story hound might anticipate it to be. Even Dissidia NT and Tekken 7 are both a part of the FFXV Experience to me, and that's pretty awesome.

Before, I said I'd wait to play Dissidia before I gave my final verdict on FFXV, but that's wrong.

There IS no Final Verdict, much like there IS no "Final" Fantasy.

FFXV will only end when people stop talking about it or making content for it.

And while that feels inconclusive to an RPG fan seeking closure, it's certainly better than the alternative fate most games eventually see. The end of an incomplete idea.

It doesn't stop there. Among other things like the slew of new dialogue and a change to Ignis' costume you get from his DLC to have the messy hair, they also
Updated Ifrit's model to make his Starscourge corruption more clear.
Apparently Shiva's dialogue after beating Ifrit has changed to be in Human language as well. I don't remember this part very well, so I leave it to those interested to have a look. I also don't know if this refers to all audio options but I would assume so.
I also heard about about the map changing to reflect the boat by showing areas in the water as visited but you'll have to find that yourself.

Finally, it seems users found Cidney's Tow Truck in a slightly updated map for Chapter 10 (Skip to 2:20 to see the small town with the truck). Is that possibly important? Well, I have an idea based on what we have below... EDIT: Apparently this area was always here, it just culled out upon approach? This could still be relevant to the update but not necessarily so, I guess.

That's right- There's more!
The Japanese site goofed earlier and seemingly posted the patch notes for the NEXT update (Probably confusion due to the delay of this one). It has been removed now, but I took a shot of it
Google Translate said:
- It corresponds to the new DLC FFXV ROYAL pack.

· Character illustration was added.

· Awarded works of the 4th snapshot contest were exhibited at restaurants in Gardena Watching Ferry.

- A new quest was added to CHAPTER10.

· Various defects were corrected.

· Save data created with this version can not be used with older version.

· Overwriting old version save data with this version will not be available in older version.
Now, in regards to Cidney, I find it suspect that her Truck has shown up in Chapter 10 when the next patch advertises a new quest(s) there. I don't imagine this will be a huge addition, rather a small quest to bridge the journey to the train. Either way, I think that would be a welcome change. I honestly don't remember a lot of this stuff because I haven't replayed the game's story since launch, though I can't see how this could be anything other than a positive.

I wish they had gone with something halfway between the two models. I like that they made his left side more "oily" (like
Ravus after he died and transformed
), but I would have preferred they kept his normal fiery skin tone elsewhere rather than make him so pale.

Okay so, if I read that right, (since I got the old Season Pass), all I need is the Royal Pack?

Some of the new dialogue exchanges added in the Version 1.21 update are pretty great:

I don't know for sure how to access
VwAtDmP.jpg
yet, but I think it's done in Chapter 14, and in this particular screenshot, the player had simply done the
glitch where you take the older crew into the past
.

I think Lulcy has already seen this (I see you there on Reddit =P), but it's worth everyone who has finished the game taking a look at:

Finally started this, observations so far are that the game is extremely pretty, the voice acting is pretty good for the four main guys and the combat system feels very, very different from previous titles.

Here's some fun glitch videos to have come along since the recent Version 1.21 update:

https://twitter.com/TheKatieLeJeune/status/960727014201229312 (this one isn't exactly related to the update, but here it is anyway since it also involves Aranea)
----

Speaking of glitches, a few of you know about this next one already, but I thought I'd make a post about it here as well.

After regaining control of the Regalia in Chapter 5 recently, I fast traveled to Meldacio Hunter HQ and noticed the blockade that should have been blocking access into the tunnel leading to the Vesperpool area had conveniently disappeared.

Go to 4:17:45 in this video to see the discovery and the shenanigans that followed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbuPRwAGeHU

Long story short, I was able to complete several quests that I should not have been able to just yet, including getting the Star of the Rogue in the Myrlwood dungeon; "The Ever Valorous Regalia"; "No Pain, No Gem"; "The Professor's Protégé - Myrlwood Firefly"; "Mountains of Misfortune"; and "Liege of the Lake."

I also explored Steyliff Grove with Gladio and got myself trapped by killing the Quetzalcoatl too early (the Mythril Ore didn't appear, so I couldn't get out of the room). I then redid the dungeon, clearing out everything except for the boss, and left it that way for when I would return in Chapter 7 with
Aranea.

It's funny to see the things that are said as you proceed through the dungeon without Aranea there to say her lines -- and funnier still to see the guys talking about Gladio as though he isn't right there.

When I was ready to leave the Vesperpool area, I was momentarily trapped because the blockade doors had reappeared, but the "Return to car" feature got me back to Meldacio. I even found myself able to warp back and forth between Meldacio and the Vesperpool area at will by using "Return to rest point" and "Return to car" (I had stayed at the havens around the Vesperpool).

When I went back through Steyliff Grove with
Aranea
(sans enemies), she didn't say any of her lines, presumably because the flags for most of them had already been triggered. She didn't say anything when I picked up the Mythril Ore either, though, making for an odd little exchange between Prompto and Noct.

Some other interesting things I've been able to test in my playthrough:
  • If you do the Malmalam Thicket dungeon before driving that way with Iris in Chapter 6, the guys will still want to go off the main road to check the place out, as though they haven't already been
  • If you haven't killed Deadeye yet and gotten access to chocobos before driving down to the thicket with Iris in Chapter 6, Ignis will still tell Noct to "Call a bird for the lady"
Currently, I'm experimenting with finding a way past the invisible walls in Chapter 6 that keep you from taking
Iris
outside the intended play area. I know there used to be a glitch that allowed you to get past these annoying walls, but it seems to have been patched.

I really want to take her with me to fight Deadeye.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed these findings. I'll update with more if I pull off similar stuff.

World Premiere: How Final Fantasy XV Mastered Mobile

"We actually tested the game using a low-polygon art style, similar to Final Fantasy VII," says Tabata. "That might satisfy existing Final Fantasy fans, but we weren't sure if it would be received well among new players." So the team created a new look it thought younger audiences would like.

After testing both styles with various demographics, the studio found players in their teens and twenties preferred the version you see in the game today.

Likewise, Square Enix intentionally built the development team around younger creators who were skilled at simplifying complex mechanics. "In console gaming, we tend to keep adding game mechanics," says Tabata. Mobile developers, however, "tend to design by distilling the experience."

^Well, thankfully, none of older FF games were too "distilled" when they were released on the Nintendo DS. FFIII and FFIV were both very good games on that system.

I kinda wish FFV and FFVI got the same treatment, but I highly doubt they will any time soon.

Well, if this becomes successful, there might be hope.

FFVII and VIII Pocket Edition might also be possible.

ForceStealer

Double Growth
I want V and VI to get the FFIV Complete treatment. Never liked the DS "if FFs 3 and 4 came out on PS1" look.

Instead they got butchered mobile versions :(
