Okaaaay, here's my finished Minnie Mouse keychain/charm. I finished it and gave it to my coworker on Monday, and I'm happy to say she adored it. :joy:
Made with a foil and wire armature, then I sculpted the clay on, baked it, and painted it. Painting was the most time consuming part, for sure, but I'm really pleased with the final result! <3 Those eyes... O_O

So here ya'll go, showing off some pics now~

^Thanks, Howl! :properhug: What's your address?
I used to wonder if people got tired of me making handmade gifts... but I've been convinced they're 'one of a kind and therefore special'. I've also gotten better with my art, so that helps too. :wacky:

Here's a concept sketch of how an aquatic race might look in my original fantasy series, The Freezing Fog. They might not even be featured in-novel, but I was fascinated with the race and wanted to get an idea of them, how they look and live, as an effort to build up the world my story takes place on.

Also tried to make an effort to draw at a different angle for anatomy practice, a view from the back which is something I like never do. A bit of a struggle, I definitely don't think it's perfect, so if anyone has some good critique I welcome it! ^_^

Enjoyed sketching this out, though not sure if it'll be the final look or not. I don't want the race to be 'generic'; I do want them to look more humanoid than aquatic, though.

I dunno exactly what this is, some sort of dragon beast. Sounded fun to sketch, 20 minutes or something. I quite like it. :awesome: Super long canvas though...

Body close-up for detail. Why am I going into detail it's a sketch. Oh well. :wacky:

^Firstly, is that gif from Hunger Games? :awesome:

But thanks a ton Howl! :loveglomp: I might color it if I take the time to do so. I need to prioritize my children book first though. Sketching is quick and easy, but coloring and details.... takes more time. :D

^I thought of Hunger Games because of the weird hairstyle. :D
I've heard of the movie, but I've never seen it. Sounds entertaining plot-wise, but is it corny? :awesome:

It is a cult film, so you may either love it or hate it. I don't recall it being too corny though. Has been a while since I've seen it.

I'll see if the movie's at my library and if it is, I'll give it a try then!

Oh, rummaging through facebook pics and saw this pic that my sis posted a while ago. Origami cranes I folded.........minuscule cranes, that is.
Yes these are all done by my fingers, no tools involved. :monster:

Though I don't know if the smallest one I've made is the small one in the above picture, or the small one in the picture below. Posing with my origami dragon too and my 3DS, of course. :awesome:
Be aware, I couldn't actually make it a true crane, this one was too small for me to do some of the last few folds of making the design slimmer, so it's folded like a 'flapping crane' instead. Basically meaning the folds that make the body slender were not done, thus with normal sized paper a flapping crane origami allows you to gently tug the bottom of the crane in opposite directions to 'flap' the wings. But don't try it with this one, you'd obliterate the poor fellow. :monster:

And if anyone's curious, the paper I used for the tiny one in the last pic was the same kind of paper you use to roll cigarettes. It's super thin, so perfect for folding tiny origami models.
And no I don't smoke, I got the paper from my grandparents when they used to smoke. :awesome:

Oh, wow, it's crazy how small the small ones are! The Minnie keychain is super cute, looks like you nailed the eyes.

The dragon beast design is neat - I like the tail and the spiky area above the front two legs. I really like the wing and ear fins on the aquatic creature. I have trouble with back anatomy myself, but the placement of things look good to me. I really like how you connected the wings, although I think the angle of left scapula (where the corner of it points towards the spine) seems sort of low. The shadow being cast by the hair seems to kind of flatten things out, since it's not being affected by the form of the muscles of the upper back.

Ahh Mogget your words and critique are wonderful! :loveglomp: Thank you so much!

On the aquatic creature, I think you're right on the scapula being too low, I'll have to find some proper reference to get it better. And I didn't even think of the shadows following the muscles! I did try to keep this quick with the shading and didn't put much thought into it, but it does come across as flat. I never made a definite light source either, so that doesn't help things. :D I'm still really new to drawing half-body/full-body with proper lighting and whatnot, so it's something I need to practice more of to improve on.
I could thank your post several times for the help! :joy:

And Howl.... I never realized how small BB's are, but um, the last one seems to be about the same size as a BB. :awesome: The other ones are a bit bigger though!

Here's my latest sculptures, some charms that were commissioned by Mayo Master here on TLS during the holidays. ^_^ I'm very grateful for the commission and had a ton of fun with these charms, because these charms consist of Pokemon and a Totoro. What's not to love. :awesome:

Unfortunately when I took these pics, it was bad weather outside and I wasn't able to take them with the natural lighting I prefer, so the colors have a more yellowish tint then they do for real! The Totoro especially came out looking, er, yellow in these pics, but he isn't, he's a dark gray with a hint of brown, and has a very light tan belly.

Next up will be a realistic, though miniature, rattlesnake. Dear God I'm not looking forward to that paint job. :closedmonster:

Oh you ~ :loveglomp: Thank you so much Howl! <3
The Totoro and Haunter were my favorites. I'm not sure which one I wanted to keep more (I didn't keep either, of course!) :D

Just a sketch. I swear. Though I did spend like an hour on it.... I was playing around with Sketchbook layers and the options on them, using them to highlight parts of the dragon and whatnot. It was fun. XD
Anyway, wanted to make this guy some sort of... honey dragon! He loves drinking honey, and his coloring is a direct result from so much honey. Added sketchy...hibiscus(?) flowers for some extra color. Like this dragon would be someplace warm. He probably travels a lot, all over the world, to find new flowers and taste different nectar and/or honey. Anyway, I love this guy.
I originally sketched out a version of him on my bank statement. Yes, my bank statement. I doodle on these things okay? I liked the design enough to make it an actual digital sketch. :awesome:
