So because the full-length looked so small on here, I decided to post a cropped version of my Halloween entry for the contest last month on here, just cropped to show Reddas's head. Because it's a big pic and hard to see the details--oh and some nice zombie details too.
And I'll throw in a bit more info on my research into this drawing. But first, a big thanks to Lithium on here for providing me with some much bigger and better quality pics of Reddas in the first place, which allowed me to get the details of his face down a lot better.
I mentioned before about the picture 'regressing' back in time, with the present day on the left and the past on the right, and Reddas himself shows this, which is why his helmet is forming on the back half of his head.
So I searched for concept art of Reddas, but realized there's nothing on him of when he was Judge Zecht, and thus.... he actually has no official armor.
Instead, I got pictures of the other 5 Judges and took some ideas, trying to get a feel for the style of the armor. And then I learned that some of the armor designs in FF XIV were inspired by the Archadian Judge designs, specifically the Imperial Legatus armor (I've never played XIV). Which led me to character's Gaius Van Baelsar and Nael Van Darnus, which, if you notice, Darnus's helmet was the biggest inspiration for Zecht's.
So yeah, I mixed some stuff together and did a couple designs and what you see is the final result.
For the enemies~
The zombie in the purple cloak is the Zombie Warlock from the Necrohol, and the undead scythe dude is the Oversoul enemy. I made another couple zombies, and then a dying moogle and bangaa, both of which I got the idea for after reading that first translated chapter from the XII novel (with the moogle screaming and the bangaa mother looking for her family).
....And then of course is the Midlight Shard, glowing and stuff. And then Nabudis, which I rushed through in the final picture to finish it in time, so I never got to show the city design like I planned and instead covered it with tornadoes everywhere (which was going to be there in the first place, but I was going to show more of the buildings).
Um, and so, that's like the details of this pic. I tend to do a lot of research to make sure these things are accurate and I have a ton of fun doing it because I'm a nerd.
AND BECAUSE IT'S LORE.
So yeah. Feast your eyes on zombies and a Reddas wracked with guilt. Making pained expressions isn't something I'm used to.
